I have 'pattern of rebirth' enchanting 'wirewood symbiote'. my opponent plays 'seal of cleansing' on his turn. on my turn, i play natural order, sacrificing the wirewood symbiote. My opponent then uses the seal of cleansing to kill my pattern of rebirth. Is this possible? I think according to rule 704.5n the pattern dies as a result of a state-based action, so there is nothing for him to target as it is already in the graveyard. Am I referring to the right rule? Also, when and where does patterns trigger take place? Is it still on the battlefield or is it acting from the graveyard? And if it is acting from the graveyard, if a card like tormod's crypt removed it when it triggered, would I still get to search, or would it fizzle?
First, I understand it's difficult, but please make an effort to capitalize what's supposed to be capitalized.
When you sacrifice the creature Pattern of Rebirth is enchanting, the creature goes to the graveyard. This triggers Pattern, but the trigger won't be put on the stack until after SBAs are checked and before the active player regains priority. When SBAs are checked, Pattern is attached to an invalid object, so it's put in the graveyard. Next, the Pattern trigger goes on the stack, and finally the active player regains priority with the Pattern trigger on the stack.
There's obviously no time at which your opponent has priority to target Pattern with anything, and Pattern doesn't say anything about caring whether it's in the graveyard or not.
