Hi all!
I'm Caio, from Brazil, more precisely from Vitória, on the southeastern coast, north of Rio. I'm studying EE (electrical engineering).
I play since Alliances, with a couple of gaps, like when I went to the US for a HS exchange program (lived in the Cape Coral-North Ft. Myers, FL, went to North High, class of 2003).
My free time is spent between M:tG, beach, soccer and alcohol.
If a deck has B in it, I'm in! Suicide, Red Death, Deadguy Ale, UWb Fish, Pox variants, MonoB Control, Saber Bargain (so many good memories) so on and so forth.
By the way, I collect Yawgmoth's Bargains, right now I have something like 35 or 40, around 10 of them signed by the artist and two of them foil. If you have any spare bargains, contact me!
Book: short stories - kafka, alan poe, tchekov etc
Movie: too many to pick one
Actor: bill murray
Drink: absolut
TV Show: arrested development, spongebob
music: punk, harcore, eletronica
Artist: (see avatar)
Magic Color: B
Deck: Pox, enchantress

Hi all!
I'm studying EE (electrical engineering).
When I read that, I really hoped you were actually studying Engineered Explosives.

Electrical engineering is pretty close to that.
EE is not often used outside the EE community (or is it?). Posting this kind of stuff here is the only situation where EE could have two meanings. And that's really cool!

I gave up on "EE" and started using "engineering" or "computers" when describing what I study in school.

Hey, I thought I'd introduce myself quickly.
My name is Kevin Seiter, I live in Rochester, NY and work as a Software Engineer in the city. I played Magic a long time ago and quit my first time around Ice Age. I've been back now for a little over a month, playing at various local tournaments and getting caught up with all the new mechanics/cards. It's taken some time but I'm finally back up to a reasonable play skill. I play on MWS every night as Refuge Coast, enjoy nice long walks on the beach and my favorite card is Shadowmage Infiltrator.
Cheers!

I guess it's about time to introduce myself to the world because I'm gonna stay here, want it or not. They call me Valtteri Sankari.
So, I live in Finland, in that northern country. We don't live in igloos or get eaten by polar bears. I'm currently 17½ years old, planning to get older. My home is atm in a very small town called Yläne and I can go to tournaments once in a lifetime. I'm currently studying in High School and going to finish my studies in there ~2009. The future is still very open.
I spend too much time with these cards and listen to good music. I also go jogging sometimes and used to play football (not the american one). I got onto Legacy when I got pissed about the rotation of toy-duals from standard. I finished 15th in the Finnish Legacy Champs 2007 because of my own mistake (could have been in the top8).

Hello everybody. found this website only a month or two ago, but been a regular lurker since then, and I must say the community is 5* (after coming from a stay at WoW that had the worst online community together with youtube :/)
My name is Andre, 22 year old from Portugal (where sadly the legacy community is close to none, or none, especially in sunny Algarve). I'm almost a graduate telecomms and electrical engineer, and had my first contact with magic in 1997. had two long hiatus somewhere in the middle (as urza's and affinity's broken'ness was enough to drive anyone out of the game) and only picked up again on the game early this summer
my favourite format is of course legacy. T2 and block hold little interest to me, as well as limited/drafting, and I find T1 somewhat unflavoured ( (!) but apparently every deck list shares at least 50% of its card pool) and too money driven. my favourite decks of the format are Red death and Rockguy ale (with thresh coming on 3rd), my fav cards are duress, pernicious deed and tarmogoyf, and my fav combo is swamp, ritual, gator :) . other than magic, I enjoy TV shows, movies, music and partying

Hello Internet,
I've been reading the Source off and on for a year now and decided to finally contribute. I work and live just outside Denver, CO. Started playing Magic in 93, and remember opening a Tundra from my first Revised pack. Soon after I traded it for Force of Nature (this was actually a good trade at the time). I quit around Mirage and picked back up in Invasion when I started working at Wizards of the Coast retail store. At the store I went on to judge over 200 tournaments, but I always had the most fun playing our Extended events before the rotation. My Legacy collection grew dramatically after Extended rotated, as fixtures like FoW and Duals dropped below 10 bucks each in the area for a few years. Besides Legacy I play quite a bit of Vintage, a bit of the other formats on MtGO, and would like to get back into local tournaments once job and family permit.

Hello, my real name is Mathew. I live in Allen, Texas, but play in Garland at Comic Asylum and Comic Book Craze. I will also be joining Madness Games for their Sanctioned Legacy Tournaments on Sundays once I finish building my budget Burn deck.
I have been playing Magic off and on since the Ice Age block came out. I have sold my collection at least 3 times, the most recent of which was last spring. I have only just started playing again this fall and have a pretty small collection thus far. I am heavily interested in playing the Legacy Format as that doesn't change as often as other formats do, and isn't as heavily reliant on a high income as the Vintage format.
So all in all I hope to get to know the people on this forum and in my meta area for legacy format quite well in the next couple of weeks.
Talk to you soon.

Hello, my real name is Eugenio, I'm from Italy, and I'm new to Legacy.
I started playing Magic when Darksteel came out. Lately, I began to be interested in eternal formats (Vintage and Legacy), so I decided to join the forum.
I play Extended mainly, but a bit Legacy too. I find it funnier than other formats; it's a shame that at my place there are so few Legacy tournaments. I actually play Raffinity in Ext and Vial Horror in Legacy.
Cheers!
Hello everybody!
Discovered this forum couple days ago but with the holidays now, little time!
I've been playing for about a year and a half now and the last half year I've also gotten an interest in legacy apart from standard and limited then, which I continue playing. I play a lot of tourneys in the last 2 categories and intent to do the same with legacy.
I play death and taxes at the moment but am now building a ******** deck :), slowly because of the price!

Hello Magic Family,
I am Jeremy, live in Attalla AL (45 min north of birmingham). I have lurked here this past fall and winter. I have played magic for quite some time and competitivly most of it. My primary format is type 2 and limited. Although I am an avid fan of legacy for the card pool and broken fun hence why I am a new member here. I am 26 yrs old and a libra for those who care. I also play with tacosnape at our tournament site so he can vouch for my skills. I play all archtypes but prefer agro control. One of my favorite cards of all time is stifle. Its cousin trickbind is nice but sometime 2 is hard to hold open. thats about all I have for right now Thanks for listening and am looking forward to being an active member here.

Hi everyone
I'm Elficidium, I'm from Kortrijk, Belgium, land of waffles and chocolate.
I study Modern Languages/Science.
I've been playing since Coldsnap, but the ineptitude of the local store "casual" players has forced me to pick up the older formats quite quickly, and I have since joined the local Legacy team.
I'll be mostly lurking, since I'm still quite inexperienced. For as far as Legacy goes I've only played 3 Tournaments, with borrowed Ichorid and D+T decks.
Other interests include Warhammer Fantasy, loud music and video games.

Hello,
I'm just getting back in to MtG after being on hiatus for the last 2 or years or so (I was smart enough not to sell my collection this time). Old 1.5 and now Legacy are probably my favorite constructed formats, although I've played plenty of the others over the years. I started playing about the same time Beta was released, and have played off and on since (generally to pretty decent success).

Well, i guess I should do this thing. I'm Anthony, and maybe the only white guy you know with the name LeBron. As of right now I live in south east Oklahoma, which sucks by the way. Although hopefully I will be moving to Kansas City, MO, to go to their art college, within the next couple of years. I have been playing Magic casually, due to no Magic communities anywhere I've lived, for about four years.

Hello,
My name is Dennis and I am a property developer / high school business teacher from the Boston area. More recognizably, I'm a 20-something 6'2" Chinese guy who wears sunglasses almost all the time (eye problem). I am one of those players who took a long hibernation... I started at Legends and stopped at Mirage... all the way until Judgment. I am a jack-of-all-trades type who plays multiple instruments, works in Boy Scouts, and has been a subscriber to Martha Stewart: Living since 1995 (I am not gay!). I play a large variety of decks, whatever fits the mood, since I use MTG as more mental stimulus than competition. I am prone to non-sequitur comments as a quirk. Squirrel Nut Zippers are delicious.

Hey there
I'm Jack, I'm from the Chicago Area.
I'm a migratory creature. I can be seen in two metagames. weekdays I'm in glen ellyn, ad College of Dupage, weekends, i'm in the cornfields of Dekalb.
I mostly play legacy because that's the format that lets me play with all of my cards. I built a cube last semester, and have had more fun drafting and tinkering with that thing than anything else i've played in magic.
I'm Jason. Even though I only really play Limited, and I've judged more Legacy events than I've played in, there were a two things that made this pretty much inevitable:
I live in Syracuse, so you really can't not be exposed to Legacy.
I had a turn two Hoofprints played against me by Adam Barnello... in Draft.
Seriously, after that, what's to be done? You admit that you need to have at least one Legacy deck on you at all times, you scrape up your Ravagers and Atogs, and you register your account on the Source. It's a law, or something.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Fred and I live in Minneapolis, MN. I recently got back into playing after taking a long time off (I quit when Homelands came out). I've been trying to soak up all I can from reading on the internet and I have to say this is one of the most impressive sites I've run into thus far.
I did want to ask, is it appropriate for me to ask for deck recommendations in the community forum or is that a bit low-brow for this site? If someone could PM and let me know I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Fred

Hi everyone,
My name's Matt. I am a regular at Game Empire in San Diego, CA. Before I sold my whole collection I was playing ATS, Belcher, and Re-animator. Now that I decided to come back my first deck will be Ichorid Combo. I also decided to stop Foiling/Pimping my decks and will stick to good old english cards and white bordered duals.
Aside from my magic background I am 21 years old. I am a movie aficionado, with my favorites being: No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood. I am also studying Photography at my local Community College. I am also studying printmaking, and art history.
Hi, My real name is Jose Manuel and Im from Spain.
Legacy is my favourite format because there are a lot of good decks for playing, you can win a tourney with a lot of differents decks, and moreover in Legacy I can use old cards.

Since I've been lurking and posting for a while, I guess it only makes sense I introduce myself...
I'm known as PltnmNgl on all the magic boards. (My real name is Charlie, by the way.) I'm a student, aspiring to be a sound designer. I live in North Carolina. I started around Darksteel. I'm mainly focusing on eternal and casual formats until Shards of Alara, then I'll get back into the competitive standard/limited scene. If you live near Raleigh/Wake Forest area, hit me up.

Well, I've been here over a year and I have yet to introduce myself. Im Ihsan. I picked my name because oneof my favorite magic characters is Yawgmoth, but someone already had Yawgmoth, so I went with my second, Ihsan of the Serra Paladins, later to become Ihsan's shade. That is all. See ya' 'round.

Hey guys.
My name is Sy. I'm a magic player who lives in Newtown, PA, and I attend the University of Pittsburgh hoping to major in Neuroscience.
My friends and I got into legacy because of its massive cardpool and room for new ideas to surface. We don't really consider ourselves "uber-competitive", but we know the tips and tricks of making a decent deck. I figured I'd join the Source so I could get helpful advice on how to make my decks the best they can be.
So... I guess I'll see you around.

Hello all,
Living in the central part of Connecticut.
Been playing on and off since Onslaught.
I got into the Legacy format recently as some of my favorite cards will be rotating out of extended in the near future.
Legacy looks like a pretty healthy format and I see the possibility for more innovation and change in this format as opposed to extended, standard and vintage. I only wonder what kind of new decks would be developed if there was more pro involvement and general interest in this format.
Anyways, where I live there's very few places to play magic and if anyone is in my area and having tournaments or simply up for a few casual games feel free to message me.
I have BG Rock, Aggro Loam, Enchantress (words of wind cloud of faeries version), a UG control varient, Astral Slide, UBr Tog, RG Beats, and other more casual decks.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Michael Misiaszek. I currently live in Southeastern Connecticut (Norwich area.) Just graduated from the University of New Haven with a Chemistry and Forensics Degree. I've been playing magic since 11th grade which is about 6.5 to 7 years and tournament magic for about 5 years. I played Standard but got forced to start playing legacy through some friends and enjoy the game.
I frequent Arkham Asylum in Norwich, CT, Barron's Comics and Cards in Milford, CT, TJ Collectibles West Springfield, MA, and Off the Wall Games in Hadley, MA.
Thanks.

Hello everyone.
My name is Jack and I live in New Jersey USA.
I've been playing Magic for about 5 years now, I think I started casual during Kamigawa. Well, during 2006 I finally decided to take up competitive Magic and I've been at it for about 2.5 years.
After a a while I lost a lot of interest in Standard, so I took up Legacy and returned to casual interests like collecting cool cards for EDH and I haven't regretted it since  .

About myself could be found at these following URLs:
http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=146239 (third post down)
http://www.youtube.com/user/mercenarybdu
...I've typed it so many times that I just might as well use these URLs to save people the hassle of knowing a little bit about me.
Other than what the URLs say I'll give you more of a background in type. First off, I've been playing Magic for 11 years. My first years were for fun, then in 2004-now for perspective and culture. I've been on the Legacy train since late 2005 with the release of Dark Confidant into the card pool, ever since I've been keeping a very close eye on this format and it's workings (internal and external). With Evan Erwin starting a magic tubing movement, I and a few other tubers gained the inspiration to keep he started flowing.
I've done work for him although my content I sent him didn't make it into his show. Although it didn't make it I still posted the content for the world to look over while it revealed the first problems that the first tubers revealed through what was posted that Evan fixed at GP Philly in his Top 2.
So when my camcorder arrives, I'll be sure to throw my hat into the race against Evan and the Cardproffessor.

Hey! My name is Nik, I'm from Holland, and found this forum through someone on MWS (the freak accident <3). Been playing magic since 4th edition/alliances/ice age, took a break around mercadian masques and came back about half a year ago. Favourite format is Legacy, since I like to use all the stuff available basically, and I'm too poor to afford the vintage cards.
Apart from that I play loads of casual (multiplayer)games in which I try to play strange decks and DESTROY my opponents with awesome stuff. I'm also a huge Timmy, which is why I'm a fervent Loam player, simply because I think it's the most fun to play.
I like sci-fi, movies, music (anything really, from drum & bass to metal to hip hop) and I'm 24 years old.
Well that's me, adios.

Hey I've been browsing these boards for around a year or so, and just recently decided to start posting. My name is Frank, and I'm going to college in the Boulder Colorado area. If you're in the area and need someone to play Legacy with, or Cube, I don't have a legacy deck up right now but would love to play anytime. However I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and from what I've gathered these isn't a very big Legacy scene here. Been playing magic since Invasion, but have been playing Legacy since about a year or two before the Banned list separation.

Heyhey,
my name is Jaschar and I live in Berlin, Germany.
I started MTG right after 4th edition got issued and sticked with it until Chronicals.
I hopped back on when Mirrodin came out. And stuck with ( unpowered) Vintage  for the following blocks.
I've been playing competitive Legacy for the last 1.5 years roughly and am way too addicted by now, honestly.
My girl got close to make me decide between her and MTG more than once

Hey boy's and gal,
Well i've decided to start posting, been a member for a while and been lurking on thie site for some time before registering, but since i wasnt playing any magic it dinnt really feel right... So I restarted to abuse the drug known as "Magic". I used to play when revised was hot off the press and stopped around the urza's block. Since then a good deal of my collection has desapeared (I suspect larceny, but there also a possibility I just lost them while moving), the shitty part about this is that the dual collection is gone , so no cheap come back for me.
Btw in 27 called Max (add an ime at the end if you wanna be perfectionnist) I live in Thetford-Mines Québec but my occupation calle me to move regulary.
Well see ya ll on the boards

Hey, guys. I used to be incredibly active like way back in the day (late 2003), when it used to be a different URL. I remember some people like Kirdape, but there are a lot of new faces and I'm really excited to meet the new faces that carry on the legacy we started back in 2003.
I've decided to put my life on hold and play Magic again. Apparently there's at least one T1/1.5 tournament out there somewhere in San Diego.

Hello i signed up prob a month or two ago, but never introduced myself.
I started playing magic during Tempest in 1997.
Went to FNM at a Wizards store around invasions release.
Stopped playing in tourny's often around Onslughts release
Followed magics evolution but never participated untill the release of Lorwyn.
Now that T2 is terrible in my opinion i am looking into Legacy because i love the idea that no matter how good the deck is. Theres so many out there that something beats you.
Anyways. Michigan player looking fo any tournys in MI. Send me PM's please of any consistant Legacy events help in Michigan i would love to have a stable tourny scene.

Hello fellow sourcers. Lets see something about me.
I play magic.
I played standard since my return to magic at mirridion after having left for about 6 years. I quit standard last year when my second child was born, since I can no longer justify a $200 investment every 3 months just to stay competitive. I traded off most of my type 2 stuff and play some extended but mostly legacy and vintage (I got lucky when I quit around Urza's saga that all my cards got left in my parents basement I still have my power and duels, mana drains and such) I play Goblins but am working on a new deck at the moment.

I think I've posted a few times, but no formal introduction. I really enjoy Legacy from the sidelines but haven't had anywhere to play it [competitively]. But I am definitely going to the GP in Chicago. I just moved to Indianapolis, and can anyone help me out - is there a competitive scene anywhere in this area? I'd like to think that the city hosting the Legacy/Vintage Championships every year would have a scene...please let me know.

Hey all,
I've stalked the Source for quite some while now, and have finally decided to actually bother making an account. I really like Legacy, because I used to play Standard, and I hated having to always buy cards. Although ironically, I'm buying quite a lot of cards lately, staples of course.

Hello all,
Long story short, I was with this site wayyyy back before the new URL and whatnot, maybe 5 or 6 years ago. I'm back at it again, partly because of GP Chicago, and partly because legacy is probably the best format.
Thanks in advance for the warm welcomes ; - )

2 and a half years of Official Lurking before I do this I guess.
I'm Stuart.
I used to play quite a bit of magic, but I've slackened lately due to lack of venues (our old weekly 1.5 got shut down due to drug convictions with the business's owner) and lack of money. I dabble in most anything but blue, and have a fond love for midrange BGw aggro-control decks that scoop to Counterbalance.

I'm Jackson.
I've been posting on here for a while, but never formally introduced myself. Where to start? I've been playing Magic since the end of Masques block, started competitively with Onslaught. I'm always trying new things out. However, I've been known to have a short fuse.

Hi, my name is Mark. I started playing Magic back when revised was being sold. I stopped buying cards when Visions came out. Then, about a year ago, I started trying to get back into it.
The problem is, that I'm in Longmont, Colorado, and there is no legacy here, which is the only format that I'm really interested in. Anybody out there?

Good to know Etienne.
I just realized I never posted in this thread before.
I started playing magic when Tempest was released and played casual until Torment I think. From then, I just sold my Angel deck 100$ bucks. This year, I played with someone I met in France and just gave me the desire to restart playing. I looked at different format and was looking to play competitives decks. As I mostly played Urza's block cards, I was really drawn to legacy. I bought the green men and start doin weekly tournament with Vial Goblins. Then went to black splash. I wasn't able to have top 4 or even top 8 with it. I decided to go control with Dreadstill and I really like it.
Montreal is a nice place to play legacy because of the weekly tournament at Valet de coeur, but I would like to see more importants tournaments with 5/6 rounds and top 8. I just played 3 and 4 rounds tournament with boosters to win and would like more challenge!
That's it,

Hey all, Brent here.
I started playing about three years ago, mostly casually in college. I'm graduated now and looking to greatly expand my collection and get involved in more serious play. With GP Chicago coming down the pipe, this is the perfect time to stop dragging my feet and learn the ropes. I've been doing research and I'm thinking of playing some sort of BW control-ish deck, but I'm not sure whether not playing blue is an option right now.
So, I'm just learning all about Legacy, and any help, deck suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated; otherwise I'm going to keep reading all the great content this site has to offer.

I don't suppose I've introduced myself yet. So here goes.
Hi, I'm Kate (or Katie, whichever you prefer). I started playing at the very tail end of Mirrodin block, and have slowly grown more competitive as time goes by. I hang out in Wisconsin, enjoy cheese, and worship Chibithulhu in my spare time.

Hello Girls and Boys,
I'm Florian, counting 19 years and I come from Austria (maybe my english isn't the best ;) ).
I started playing for fun 8 years ago with several editions (I even caught some Urza's Saga Booster ^^), since last year, I play on tournaments, preferring the Legacy format.

Hello everybody. I'm a pretty old hand at this game. I first saw cards when The Dark and Revised were new, I bought more Fallen Empires than I'd like to admit, and my heyday was the Ice Age/Mirage era. I quit in disgust when WoTC started the block rotation system, to waste my money on even more expensive hobbies (warhammer, sigh...). My interest resurged during Ravnica, and I've been building a better collection ever since, playing mostly casual multiplayer.
I've been reading The Source for quite a while now, but haven't had the urge to join until just now. I'm very glad that there is a Casual deck forum here now, as none of my decks are close to competitive yet, so that's where I'll be hanging out mostly for the time being, I suspect.
Also, I felt like saying that I feel like an Old Fogey when I go to prereleases, but not so much around here. The quality of discourse on this forum is some of the best I've read on any magic forum, so hats off to you all.

I'm Joel, and I live in Tennessee, where there doesn't seem to be any kind of organized Legacy play. Sad panda. :(
Anyway, more about me - I'm a DJ and electronic music producer, a hobby which takes me all over the world. It's really great for buying cheap, foreign magic singles, which is honestly the second best reason for being a traveling DJ. :D
When I'm not doing that I work at Starbucks and play Magic of all formats.
Several years ago I sold my collection, and I'm just now trying to get back into Legacy (ouch!). If any of you are from the East TN area and know of regularly occurring tournaments, LET ME KNOW! :D

Hello, my name is Travis Sutherland and I live in Lexington, KY.
I would just like to say thanks to everyone I met at GP Chicago for loaning me Fae Stompy and the great time I had hanging out with everyone. In case some of you didn't know I mostly play limited or standard, and that was my first legacy tournament, and pretty close to the first time I've played legacy. It was awesome, and legacy is now very appealing to me and I would be more than happy to play some more of it.
Thanks again!

I go by Surging Chaos on MTGsalvation (hello fellow salvationers!) and I've been lurking here on the Source for quite some time now.
My name is Byron, I'm 18, and I started playing MTG just as Odyssey came out. I started to play Magic competitively at the beginning of Mirrodin and got into Legacy in 2007. I live in Roseburg, OR which has turned into a wasteland of a community over the past few years... I've been trying to rebuild it and also in the process introduce people to Legacy (or reintroduce older players).
That's all for now.

Hey folks, Kyle here. I've been playing Magic more or less continuously since Tempest, though I've taken a few breaks for school since I started college (once in Ravnica and currently in a drought that started in October). I love to play Extended and Legacy, but there's not a whole lot of that within easy driving distance of me (which is part of the problem; I could play just about every day if I was at all interested in Standard).
We used to have sizeable tournaments at Penn State, with cool prizes and good talent. Of course, that was when I was fifteen and had no money. :p If anybody hears of or knows of a Legacy scene in like Butler or Akron or somewhere nearish like that, please PM me, I haven't found any under the 'announcements' thread yet.
At any rate, I like talking about Magic almost as much as I like playing, so this site rocks my socks.

05-07-2009, 07:56 PM
Heya. These days I'm known as Drizzy in the internet boards and some time ago I registered here too. I live in Finland and I started playing Magic 10 years ago, yet I've had some breaks during that time. Half of that time I played just casual with my friends, but five years ago that time passed and I started playing competitive decks. I never liked T2 or Extended, so I've always been playing Eternal.
I have been reading the boards quite a bit and I have found lots of help for my decks. Currently I don't have any decent eternal decks, since I had to sell most of my cards to subsist myself. Next summer I'll have enough money to start the "hobby" again. I play in mws daily, testing different decks and trying to figure out what I want to play when I can afford it.
So, I hope I can contribute something for the community at some point since I have got lots of useful information here already. We will see, hope I can stay active and make some decent posts :)

Hello,
I use this handle on multiple forums including salvation. Recent convert to the format but loving it. Mainly playing the cheaper archetypes until I can get the better stuff. I live in London, England where Legacy does not yet exist, a few of us are working on changing that, you can find us here: www.magicplayers.co.uk.

Hi,
My name's Gandhi, and I play Legacy. I also collect Voidstone Gargoyles, for some reason. I've been playing Legacy for about a year now, falling in love with casting Life from the Loam over and over. Since then, I'm not really one to post a lot on building/improving decks, but I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out the best spells for Aggro Loam, and various random decks (Elephant Stompy, or whatever we're calling it).
I'm also a fresh graduate from Michigan Tech as of December 2008 - an engineer without a job.

Hey,
I'm Joe, from California. I've played magic on and off for the past 12 years. I played a lot of type 1 back in the day, but ended up selling all my valuable cards (goodbye power, FoWs, duals :frown: ) to pay for a trip across Europe (worth it).
I started playing legacy about 2 years ago on MWS. I'll play the occasional tourney if I can bum a deck off of somebody. I play UGw or UGbw thresh mostly.
Nobody's gonna read this anyway... but on the off chance you do, HOLLA!!!
Cheers,

Hi, I am Manferd from Singapore.
I play Vintage often a few years ago. Now Vintage in my country is extremely boring. At the same time, Legacy had a growth of players. Willing to try out the new format, and it turns more fun than Vintage.
I have a lot to learn, so i hope i get a chance to learn from everyone.
Cheers!

Hello everyone!
Names Adam, just getting into Legacy. Starting playing MTG during homelands, dropped out around late Urza's block, came back in for apocalypse, didn't like the format, left, and came back in for Lorywyn (a worse format now). I play T2 (Boo evil I know), but at least I play old decks (BR Underworld/Megrim, and TurboFog).
I'm breaking into Legacy, and I know it's a steep learning curve but after alot of reading Dreadstill fits my style of play. Not the big huge guy, just control and I don't want to run pure manlands for the game win.
So, I'm a medical student at NYCOM, and hope to do a tournament soon (Long Island has to have some magic players...).
Now just to pay off a playset of FoW.

I've been registered here for almost 3 years but not a single post. Figure I might as well post here :P
Name's Jason and I've been playing Legacy since I started Magic which was 7 years ago because that was the only tournament scene around where I lived.
I was never seriously into it until recently, buying a dual here and there, and dreaming of having Force of Will and Tarmogoyfs, but now we've accumulated playsets of each and a lot more duals this summer so I guess you can say we've gotten a lot more competitive.
Anyways, it feels nice to actually post here for once :P

Hi to everyone!!! I noticed many users tend to register and go straight to the topic they're interested of, but it would be better if they just write a few lines of text on this topic. As you can see, I'm logged as Digital Devil. I come from the largest italian website about MTG (T***1.it), and I decided to register on TS because it is definitely a better webcommunity. I played against many Sourcers on MWS, and I noticed they're good and polite players. It would be awesome to share opinions with the best pros of the world!!!
P.S. As you can see, I'm italian. Sorry for my bad english =)

The short version: I want to get back into Magic, but I'm living in a third world country at the moment with little Magic, so I hope to start using MWS and find people around here to play with.
I haven't played much since 2003. My favourite format used to be extended but soon when it rotates I will have not played any standard with all of extended! So it's all so new. I figured Legacy is a good place to start getting slowly back and maybe begin extended when I make it back to my homeland (Canada).

As Kiska Ra (who should have mentioned me for being here.. you tricky bastard  ), i used to follow that Italian site, but soon got bored because of some of its members who claimed to be Legacy pros and, on the contrary, didn't understand anything. I then decided to join The Source, because i wanted to find the best international Legacy players, and i did it. I play TES, Merfolks, and rarely Ichorid and Spring Tide. Hell, yeah. Also, the average italian's behaviour is vexing. I saw people claiming to be the 999999999999 (...) DCI, but they actually sucked @ playing. Forcing a Standstill, and then playing one on their own turn. I mean, I'd rather Hymn to Tourach myself than make such a horrible mistake. On that site, also, warnings/bannings are related to the DCI ranking. If your rank is high enough, you can say anything you want without having to worry about being exiled (ugh...). If another player just does the same thing, he or she gets banned. The average level of the players on this site is way higher. Here, most players are clever and polite. That said, I'm much happier to be helped by Sourcers. This is an awesome webcommunity. Congratulations.

Just here to check some lists and get some sage advice (yeah right). Well, as for myself, I'm 25 years old and live in Denmark. I've been into Magic on, and more often than not, off since the Urza block, and I'm pretty tempted to try Legacy after growing increasingly jaded towards my usual favourite, Extended.

Hi All,
I'm 25, live in Australia and I'm an alcoholic (ok that's not true, but it seemed fitting).
There isn't a big legacy scene in Australia (actually it's more like non existent) but they've recently started a 10 week tournament at my local games shop so I'm really hoping its successful!
I've been playing Magic on and off since 4th Edition. I got back into the game in a big way in late high school/uni but had to sell off most of my cards to pay off uni debt. I have regretted it every day since and so decided to ditch the regrets and buy back in! A very costly excercise, but I love the game and also just collecting the cards.
Legacy is really the only competitive format I'm interested in (besides sealed and drafting, so I get more cards to trade for Legacy stuff ). Being able to use any card ever and also it's no where near as costly as standard once you have the staples (no rotating out) are big pluses to.
Anyway, rambled enough.

Howdy,
Started playing in 94 back when my friends and I were pissed about opening a dual land in a revised pack (should have been a Shivan Dragon). We actually tetter a bit back then whether we were going to keep playing magic or spellfire ...
I am a casual player but I still like to think up and playtest competitive decks.
(I normally only play mtg with my friends -- and when i can convince my wife)
I just grabbed an account but have been reading for a while.
Thanks to the members for your information.

I played from about 1995 - 1999, then quit because I couldn't afford it anymore. I started back with Eventide. Since I came back, I'm played Standard almost exclusively with just a little Extended. I've been really interested in Legacy for a few months now, and lurking on these boards for a couple weeks. So, here I am officially.
I've started accumulating some Legacy staples (bought 20 duals last night), but it's going slowly. My goal is to have a deck ready and tested for the February SCG Open in Richmond.
There is not really a Legacy community here, yet. I'm working with a local shop to help establish one. Any tips on creating/nurturing a new Legacy community is welcome.

Hi everyone!
I've been playing Magic off and on for 16 years now. I just recently got back into the game, and I wanted to play with all my old cards and with my friends who haven't played in a long time, so Legacy seemed to be the best format to run with. I'm hoping that I can get to some Legacy tournaments, too, but not really any going on locally that I am aware of so I might have to do some driving up to Northern VA. :)
As for my Magic favorites, blue is far and away my favorite color and I enjoy playing control and combo decks mostly. My least favorite color is green and I have been known to say, "I hate creatures."
Glad to be here at The Source, so far it seems like a smart and great community!

I'm a native of Chicago, but a Columbus transplant, where I'm good friends with members of team meandeck, most prominently Eric Blegen (media314r8), Mark Sun (morbid-) and Harrison Laws (whose user name I can't remember but i think is arcboundravager2). I'm relatively new to the format, but I have great friends to learn from and a steady income, so here's hopin ;) I recently top 8'd my second legacy tournament, at the Meandeck Open on February 21st, So hopefully its a sign of things to come. Looking forward to being part of the community.

Time to introduce myself!

Just wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Graig. I gave up my paper playing days and now focus online exclusively. My online name is ImpinAintEasy.
I've been involved in pretty much Classic only and now can't wait to see Legacy come online at the end of the year.
I'm an old fart (32), have a ball and chain and 3 little boys (7,5,2). Grew up in Ohio, but currently reside in Northwest Indiana, near Chicago.
I have written a few articles on pure regarding card selections for Legacy and can't wait until Legacy is fully functional online.
I've browsed this site many times and figure it just about time to actually register lol!

Hey all, keeping it short and entertaining-no other real purpose to thread-, I have been scouring these forums for the past 2 years daily thought i'd say hi.
1st started Magic when Revised was freshly printed and stopped at Weatherlight, But somehow MTGO made me relapse into this addiction(i blame Master's Sets allowing me to play Eternal)
Play only online(no paper collection) and play just about all formats -awaiting Vintage online-, but Legacy is by far my favorite format.
Catch me Online often same screen name, I play everything always looking for testing too.....
Now all i need is to find a good quote to sig!
Hi, the name is Plm, ( well that's not my real name but you don't care, anyway).
I'm a long time lurker on those forums, I have finally had the occasion to actually play legacy so I figured I could share my experiences .
English isn't my native language so I hope you would excuse my french.
I started playing at the very end of revised ( still have my only starter, can't remember the rares) then had to wait for 4th ed to be shipped , I turned to crazy maniac buying boxes by 5th ed .
I only played casual by then ( well i.e. no restricted list , people with 4 balance, or 4 sol ring, crazy stuff ) .
The quitting happened around mercadia ( like many others) and I rejoined the game around coldsnap.
Still a student on a budget I play mostly "cheap" deck ( monored gob, LEDlessichorid, monoblack pox ,MUC, slight).
Now on, the only tournament near me are the one my team organize, so I play in a very small meta with a lot of budget constraint.
Glad to be here, I hope you will indulge my humor:laugh:

Hi, I'm pretty new to all levels of competitive Magic, but I've been playing casual since Onslaught came out. I'm hoping to get into Legacy because I want a chance to play with a lot of the really crazy awesome older cards that I really never got to saw (or discarded back when I was younger and didn't understand things like why fetchlands were amazing).
From poking around the intrawebs, your decks to watch section is far and away the most organized and easy to read, so I figure I'll get my legacy learn on here.

Hi all, my name's Khaled and I'm from Saudi Arabia. Yeah, I bet there aren't that many Arab Magic players around and it isn't surprising in the least. Anyhow, I started playing Magic just a year ago while I was vacationing in Sydney. I initially sought out an arcade to play 3S and found out about Good Games. After playing 3S there for a while I was intrigued by Magic and the players there as the FNMs and even everyday matches drew in quite a crowd. I did know of Magic before then but the last time that I had bought any cards was back during Ice Age and I was kid back then so I didn't even know how to play. I talked to the owner of the store, Mr. Scott, who is a respectable gentleman and he taught me the basics of the game. I first started playing with a T2 Jund deck during Lorwyn/Shadowmoor/Shards, a few months later I was interested in extended because I didn't want to lose my decks to the fast pace of T2 and then was instantly drawn to Legacy.
I still don't own a Legacy deck but I'm on the brink of choosing between an Enchantress deck and a White Stacks deck. I'm not a pro player by any standards and the only people I play regularly are my sister and brother but I do love the game and have been keeping up with decks, tech, and news ever since I started playing it.

I'm a big fat bear from Wisconsin, transplanted to Minnesota for school and never left. I live with friends in the twin cities and am getting back into magic after a fairly lengthy hiatus (I think Ancestral Visions was new the last time I played).
I started playing magic when I was in grade school, and I distinctly remember drawing my friend for Secret Santa in 4th grade, and him drawing me, and the two of us colluding over which cards to buy for each other at the local shop.
In High School I played mad magic, but was unable to afford to travel much to get into it competitively. I like Legacy (obv), drafting, and I usually like block constructed (Invasion and Mirrodin stand out). Up until now I've played a lot of WoW and am getting fairly sick of it, and magic seems fresh again.
I like:
Video Games (WoW, Day of Defeat, MW2)
Magic (Aggro-control, MBC, Ghetto and/or Rogue combo decks)
Music (recently Band of Horses, Mason Jennings, Nickel Creek, Phish...but if you play something for me that's not death metal or ganster rap, I'll probably like it. I do have a habit of liking really, really awful songs for no reason, such as that Gwen Stefani/Akon song from a few years ago, and Ke$ha's Tik Tok)
Movies (recently Out of Your League, the Lion King, Bowling for Columbine, and Avatar)
Reading (recently anything by Orson Scott Card, old Vampire: the Masquerade sourcebooks, and the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm)
Redheads.
Food. Seriously, I know things. I have been unemployed for nearly a year now, and I recently considered buying a mandolin with which to do funny things to vegetables.
Oh, and smoking. I take my smoking seriously.
Pretty much anything I can sit on my ass and enjoy without moving. And swimming, which I can't sit on my ass for but is still enjoyable, for some reason.
Currently obsessed with: Belcher, UW Tempo, Faerie Stompy, somehow breaking Helm of Obedience, finding a fucking job, Kao Poon (ask for a recipe if you like Thai/Hmong/Viet food).
I'm on facebook, if you wanna hit me with a friend request. AIM is: Neomanceristaken.

Looking forward to learning lots from the community and meeting some skilled players! My main decks are U/B/x Landstill, Dreadstill and Faeries (w/Tombstalker), Cheers.
Hello! My name is Will. I'm 22, and in the Army. I'm currently in Iraq but in about a month I should be back in Fort Lewis, WA.

I think I never introduced myself.
I'm Robbin, 23 year old at the moment and a boring accountant. ( someone has to be one)
I learned about magic at the age of 11-12 and learned the correct rules at the age of 13.
I have not been playing at a real competetive level since I quitted the game at around apocalypse, I restarted the game with limited at shadowmoor/eventide and started playing competetive around the unbannings of october 2009, presenting myself with legacy directly. (poor money)
Built myself a reanimate-deck list and directly gained the status of Dutch Legacy Champ 2009. ( somewhere in october or november)
I still suck at playing the game.

Hi folks, totally forgot about this thread so I guess I'll introduce myself now. My name is Tim, and I now live in Anchorage, AK. You'll often find me on the forum lamenting about the non-existence of Legacy in Alaska, selling off my collection several times, and now looking for a job. I started the addiction, err, game back in '93 with ten packs of Arabians and no land. I stopped playing around Exodus and picked things up with Ravnica. These days I try to avoid sinking too much money into the game because I play on a pretty casual basis.
Oh yeah, :w:Power!

Hi all, my name is Gary. I hail from Wisconsin. I got into magic around Masques block but didn't start playing competitively until the Invasion block. i've only just recently started playing legacy competitively. So far, it feels like the best, and most well rounded format.
My other interests include music (playing it, and listening to it), miniatures games (preferably Horrorclix), and anything steampunk.

Well, been reading quite a lot here and since I found a funny something to post, I decided to register :)
I´m from Germany and right now don´t even really play on a regular basis, just sometimes a bit of casual with some friends.
I´m more of a theoretician, never having played in a bigger tournament and not being that much of a player, however, I like to build new decks and totally twist established ones. That usually ends in some unwieldy monster or a something very fragile.
Perhaps I´ll start posting instead of just reading now :P

Hey,
I am a long time magic player and have been mostly playing t2 for the last 3 years because no stores supported eternal formats where i was living. I recently moved back to Houston and i am looking forward to getting to play Legacy and Vintage on a regular basis.
I am a control player at heart which is one reason i will be so glad to get back to playing eternal formats since i have been playing jund for almost 2 years.
Interesting fact: I am originally from the UK.

Hey guys, names' Alex. I actually just recently got into magic, right around when Zendikar came out, but I pretty much know the whole game now. I wanted to start playing Legacy because I absolutely HATE standard. Why? Because the average tournament-winning decks are about that of legacy decks, only they rotate in about a year or 2. So, even though I don't know all of the cards, I know most of the important ones for legacy.
Anyways, I like:
Console video games
Control decks with a combo finisher
Casual and non-rotating formats
Blue decks

My name is Mike. Those Syracuse guys may recognize me, I've played in a few weeklies there. Vestal a few times also. I was playing Monoblack, then Deadguy, then Rock. I won a few with that, but I mostly lost. Now I'm playing storm. Haven't looked back since, and don't intend to, even without Mystical. Although I may throw some Monoblack in there just to keep it fresh.
How about a little history? I've been playing mostly casually since before Fallen Empires was on the shelves, I remember seeing Unlimited and Revised packs for a few bucks. I've always played something with black in it, the only exception being my old Fires deck. I added black later. I've only recently been playing Legacy, maybe a year now I think? Can't be sure. Doesn't matter anyway.
I honestly don't care what Wizards does to the format. Ban this, ban that... cut support here, there... I'll still be playing Legacy. Magic's been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. And I have some OLD cards. I'd like to play with them.
Hi all, I'm Sam.
Been playing Magic for a long time now, "competitively" (ie FNM and DCI sanctioned drafts) for about two years, and I recently became enamored with Legacy. It also happened to occur at the same time that Standard started getting stupid, but that's just a coincidence.
Looking forward to being a part of things!

I come from Germany, so I'm not a native speaker, please excuse some mistakes in my posts.
I play Magic for a long time (nearly 11 years), for about 7 years, I play on tournaments.
I have tried a lot of formats, and my favorites are Highlander and Legacy.

Hello,
I'm Paul, I'm from the Netherlands. I've been playing Magic: the Gathering since 2002. I used to play vintage mainly but switched to legacy a few years ago (and casual / limited). I'm not a tournament regular, a few each year and usually with a rogue'ish deck.
Cheers, Paul
Howdy -
I'm Josh. Picked this lovely game up when Revised was released (whenever that was - 1995 maybe?). Played casually through around 2000 and just started again with the release of Zendikar. I'm currently playing both T2 and Legacy. Haven't really been a tournament player in the past, but interested in getting at least semi-competitive at this point. As far as legacy goes, currently sporting merfolk and some wacky mono-black builds that never seem to work quite right... :)
Definitely looking forward to reading and learning a lot here - haven't found anywhere with a wealth of legacy information like this! Hopefully I'll be able to contribute once I learn!

Hi everyone,
I'm Brian, currently of Pennsylvania, USA, but very soon moving to Sheffield, England for grad school. I've been playing casually since approximately the time Weatherlight came out, with several long breaks in the interim - I'm just recently coming back after nearly 4 years D:
Anyway, I've quickly become enamored with the extensive options of the Legacy format, and, as I'm no longer an unemployed 15-year-old, I find I can actually afford a fair number of the necessary cards! ;) My competitive side is loudly urging me toward tournament play, and I look forward to hitting up some local events once I'm settled in the UK.
I've already found this forum to be a great source (ahem...) of information and advice on deckbuilding and the format in general, and I hope to become a positive contributor myself before long.

Hey all, read these forums for a good few months now so I figured it was time to join it.
My real name is Andrew; I hail from Saskatoon, SK (Canada) and have been playing MtG since around Tempest block's debut. I have gone from casual, to FNM'er, to (since I started playing again around Conflux) trying to crack the next level (even top 4-ed regionals and made it to Nationals this year :D).
I became interested in Legacy over the course of the past year, since then I have amassed a respectable collection of staples and playables for the format. Currently my decks of choice are New Horizons (4 cards short of the full 75) and Vial Goblins (currently building), and I really enjoy playing each deck. What else can I say; I've had the chance to Force of Will things, fetch dual lands, and bash people around with everything from Goyfs to Lackeys. There's no going back now!

Hey guys,
Long time reader, first time poster.
I got back to the game a couple of years ago.
I started with merfolks since it was a cheap deck, but what I really like is playing combo. I bought ANT and made a top8 at an 80 players tournament some months ago. After the banning I tried some things and went back to merfolks without much success. Now I am working on TES.
Although I have been reading the source for more than a year I never felt entitled to contribute. I want to change it now, and help develop the decks I like at the same time that I keep learning from other people.
See you in the forums!

Hello,
My name is Matt, I am 25 and just moved to a new location. To eastern WV in the Shenandoah valley (near va/md as well)
Its been a few years since I played magic but it seems the locals are most interested in it besides EDH(which is fun) and standard (which I will never play).I started playing initially in early 1996 before the release of homelands and I have played/collected ever since.
I have sets of most of the expensive legacy staples so I hope that I can jump into the format with ease.
See you guys around.

Hello everyone,
I'm Tony from Milford, MA. Been playing off and on since Ravnica.
Currently I am deck-less for time being. I had tried Mono-U Merfolk and did not like it. Right now I am trying to build 4c Countertop or maybe Bant Countertop. Hopefully I find a deck I enjoy before the GP in Providence. The one thing I do know is that I enjoy Legacy much more than I enjoy the Standard.

Ok, with that boring stuff out of the way some MTG stuff:
I started playing MTG around 1999 when some local kids re-introduced me (I saw the game during Ice-Age even owned some cards but never really played) I was mostly into T2 and Extended because there weren't any Type 1 tournaments around even though I owned most of the cards. Eventually around 2006-2007 we got some people into our local store able to play Eternal and we started a Vintage scene, I became involved as a tournament organizer and to date we've held some of the biggest events (all 12 events where above 40 people) and have brought Vintage back to Holland. I never played much Legacy unless there was nothing else available. So why am I joining you guys now? Well lately I've been trying to play all formats in order to broaden my horizon and be able to actually compete at GP's.
I'm also a Moderator on Themanadrain.com and Admin of Themanacrypt.nl (Dutch Vintage forum)

Hi my name is Keith,
I have read a rather large amount of threads here as i was looking into getting into legacy a few months ago. I have been playing for just over 1 year and am already playing i think rather good magic. I spend a lot of time play testing and reading about magic.
I play extended as well and some standard but usually only keep 1 deck for standard at a time.
Work as a cook 6 days a week so usually don't have time for FNM and as such i play legacy at a store on Wednesday.
I use to play UB/r Fae for legacy but am switch into Dreadstill and landstill since the lists can some times be similar. Also play AnT though it is more of a side deck then a main deck. I am really looking forward to starting to share ideas here after reading for so long to not screw up.
I live in a small town called Georgetown near Toronto which happens to be in Canada. And from what i hear legacy is some what popular up here.
So hello again may we all break legacy.

Been playing for way too long. So long that I don't even remember how and why I started playing this game haha.

Hola,
My real name is Daniel Olivier - I just really like the name Jabari.
I'm from Ventura CA but I go to school at UCSB currently. Eternal formats in Santa Barbara are non-existent all they play is type 2 here so I've been trying to get into it, the money is pretty hard to come by though. So I usually end up driving back to Ventura to play Legacy at the weekly tournament there. I can't usually afford all the cards I need but they're very laid back so proxies are fine.
I'm very much a tempo player, I tend to make a lot of play mistakes but hey I'm learning. I've been playing serious legacy for about a year now, and I always like meeting new players.

Tim.
I'm from Baltimore, Maryland.
I'm still fairly new to the game of MtG, so my style of play varies on what I'm focusing on at the time. Recently I've been getting into speedy five-colored decks.
I have yet to play outside of OCTGN, sadly -- I got into MtG about two years after I graduated high school; none of the people I went to school with, be it middle school up through the half semester of college I took, ever spoke about it, so I'm assuming they either didn't know about it or just weren't into it. I also haven't really found a suitable place to play any FNM or just general play; they're all within driving distance but I do not have a car.
Yup; that's me.

Hi guys!
The name is Cody. I started playing MTG in 2000, and quit during the Kamigawa block (It's been 6 years!!!!). I use to play vintage, extended, and type 2 (I mostly concentrated on extended, and this is another reason that brings me to legacy). I'm looking to get into Legacy, as I would much rather invest into a format that I can play for years to come, and I won't have to dish out a ridiculous amount for power.
Something I've been wondering; it seems that the online MTG community has died a bit. What has happened to everybody? It seems like the population of just about every forum I've been on has went down tremendously. That or everybody is just too lazy to post... XD

Hello. Live in Denmark. Been trolling the official Wizards forums for some three years until I finally realised that their Legacy forum was as dead as the Extended format, and everyone was a Standard-playing American anyway. So I made an account. Like, right about now.

Hello just found this website randomly and decided it would be worth it to join and see whats up. I've been a collector/player for a long long time but haven't been playing lately and i'd like to try my hand out in tournament stuff. Joined to hopefully make new friends and people to play with and to learn more about playing the game. I hail from Vancouver, WA and you can call me Bob. I like to play all the colors but black and artifacts. I hate artifacts and black is a huge weakness for me, i dont like the mechanics that much but i'm learning to deal with it.
Well then, here's the first post. I'm new, but I've been lurking around The Source for quite som time. Semi-competative player from Sweden, playing mostly standard but recently got into legacy big time (buy buy buy :P).
I'm 27 and working as a teacher in Biology, Sciences and Geography. Got a wonderful girlfriend and a cocker spaniel. Not more to add I suppose.

Hi everyone, my name is Richard, I am from the Toronto Area in Ontario Canada
I have lurked this site for a long long long time, but never really had the urge to join until recently
I publish a blog dedicated to legacy and it is riddle with my opinion on such things, whether a person agrees with me or not I don't really care about
I am 32 years old, and have been playing magic since revised. I am freelance writer and cast supervisor for a production company. As well as, I work at a hobby shop, which I am trying my best to get DCI Sanctioned so we can hold legacy events and FNM's at.

So, I had this nice long introduction thing typed up, and... it totally got deleted on me... (Way to go fail computer)...
Anyway, my name is Jay, and I'm from Buffalo NY. I've been playing magic on and off since revised was new, but unfortunately sold everything I had from back then right around the release of Weatherlight... (One of my BIGGER regrets). I ended up getting back into the game right after Tempest and just pretty much played casually up until fairly recently.
I've been starting to get more into legacy, given the time, I'll hopefully be going to try my luck at some tournaments in the near future.
Besides magic, my hobbies include Ball Python Genetics (selective breeding of genetic mutations that induce various color and pattern phenotypes), other random reptile related things (keeping and breeding a handful of other various species, giving educational demos, etc), and pretty much anything related to Biology...
The vast majority of my time is spent in the molecular biology lab that I currently work in while I'm finishing my PhD (in molecular biology).
Other than legacy, the only real "format" that I play is EDH. I find it to be extremely entertaining, and in my opinion the most enjoyable casual format I've probably ever played. Standard simply irritates me, and I have never been a huge fan of extended. I WOULD play vintage, but, I'm not about to drop that kind of money, and I do not believe in using Proxies.
Anyway... I suppose that was about half of what I had initially typed up... hopefully it actually posts properly this time without my computer freaking out...
I look forward to meeting some new (new to me) players, and hopefully a few from my area, since my options have been fairly limited as of late..

I look forward to meeting some new (new to me) players, and hopefully a few from my area, since my options have been fairly limited as of late..

hey all I'm Steve, and i play mainly on Magic Online since this area is really dry in terms of anything magic going down... i'm going to make up a word and call myself a total redtard, in that my favorite color is red. theres just something about hitting your opponent in the face with a bolt for one red mana...
other stuff i like to do is play video games, build computers, and watch the occasional movie
not sure what else is relevant, other than i will be asking a lot of advice if thats OK with everyone

Hey, my name is Alfredo, and I´m from Spain. i have been playing magic since mirrodin (not SOM), and my main legacy deck is Zoo (big zoo and small one),I have other tier2 decks like Affinity, Burn and elfball, and a pool of legacy cards like FOWs and NO, mainly.
The main reason why i am signing up here is i want to ask a custetion:
Next year i will move from Spain to England to learn and improve my english. Howerver I would like keep playing magic tournaments and releases.
In addition to London (maybe too expensive for me) ,does anyone know any city in UK with a good institution of mtg?, and a place/shop for playing every weekend?
thank u so much

figured I'd finally post here, as some of you wonder who this "scrub" is.
Name is Travis, 20 years old.
I'm a storm player, TES was the first deck i built, and it will always be the deck i prefer over others. Recently started playing in Legacy tourneys as utah has no real legacy scene.
I've been a long time reader here, about 2 years or so, as legacy has been my favorite format, i checked here often for that as well as the pimp and alters.
I started playing magic when i was about 8 or so, so 6th edition i believe? age of 10, started playing competitively, but stopped around kamigawa and started back up near the end of the m11.
since then, i started doing sealed events for the first time * only did constructed as a kid*. Not taking it serious, as i didn't plan on going to any big events and getting byes. being a decent player, i had a terrible dci. i was roughly like 1450 * i laugh every time i say it*. then when i went to gp denver. i started taking magic seriously and within a month. i got my dci up 300 points +. would have day 2'd at denver, but i nearly passed out during the 2nd to last final round, so i had to drop.
Hopefully i'll start traveling to more events and meet up with some of you guys, If you ever come to a ptq in Utah, I'm able to house. just pm me in advance.

Long time reader, first time poster.
My name is Chad, I am a 20 year old student of University of Toledo/Monroe County Community College.
I've been playing legacy for quite some time. Between me and my friend we have Merfolk, Zoo, Dredge, NO Bant, and Team America built, and I am currently building ANT.
If there's anyone in the area (734) that wants to test or just sit down and play some casual (love 5-color highlander), send me a message!
Hey guys its Forrest I deleted my last post since I never really posted here again after that and I felt the need to re-introduce myself since I just began picking up magic again. I was terrible back in the day. I used to play at DC Comics now Pheonix comics now possibly gone? I do not know... I used to also play at the lucky frog also gone? I do not know I no longer live in Northern VA so a lot of that info is not at my disposal. I am best friends with the owner of the Curio Cabin, I know a lot of the members here go there to play legacy and other formats. I have not made it up to VA to see the new store but you can bet if I visit I will be playing magic and hoping to see some old faces at the Curio Cabin. If anyone would like to play MWS any format really, add me on any of the following messengers:

Hi, my name is Zach.
I have been reading The Source for a while now, and recently decided to start playing Legacy. The first time I played Magic was back when the 7th Edition starters were out. I played casually for years and quit playing for a while right before the Future Sight Pre-release. I started playing again when M11 was released, and began to play competitively. My first Legacy tournament was the SCG Dallas Open this year, and I'll be attending the SCG Open in Houston later this year.
My favorite card ever is probably Jace, the Mind Sculptor, especially since my playset was a surprise gift. My favorite deck to play is Counterbalance Top (the UWRG one), but I am currently playing BUG Landstill. For some reason, I am really good at playing dredge, but I don't like to play the deck all of the time because I am a control player at heart.
I love seeing a lot of the "pimped out" decks, but most of all I like non-foil English cards that are signed (just seems classy to me for some reason) and miscuts.

hey guys,
my name's andrew - twenty-two years old from upstate new york (845 area). i'm a poor, usually jobless, college graduate, so most tier legacy decks are out of my price ranger, but i'm all about budget rogue strategies and mono-colored decks. mostly, i'm an oldschool mono-blue control player, and i'm sure i resemble that one annoying guy in everyone's playgroup who refuses to play just about anything other than blue.
i've been playing magic since the glory days of mercadian masques (as far as i'm concerned, the best set in all of magic) and i'm still angry at myself for not keeping all of the cards i had at such a young age in better condition. like every other magic player out there, i've been known to take year-long breaks from playing/collecting cards, and i'm still stumbling across shit i never knew they printed.
my favorite card is gorilla titan.

Ahoy. I'm Eric, twenty four years old. Playing since Stronghold, quit right as Onslaught was coming out, got back into the obsession in June of this year. I'm pretty poor, I usually trade up to one expensive deck, play the hell out of it, and recycle the cards for a new one.
Favorite format is Legacy, just so much variety(though I play the only deck that doesnt run wasteland or FoW due to aforementioned poorostity). Trying to get back into standard and drafting is something I never did back in the day, need to brush up. If anyone is in southeastern ohio, I'm trying to put a playtest group/team together, PM for deets.
AIM-ericdrums1337 hit me up if you wanna talk about Quinn(the deck, not the Medicine Woman) or legacy in general.

I've been here for over a year and I just noticed this thread existed. >_<"
My name is Ryan but my friends call me Shaboogs. I'm from the Philippines and I started playing around the time Visions came out. I stopped playing after Judgement and just came back last year. I used to play Turbo Stasis back then to piss people off. So when I came back, I played that deck in a GP Manila 2010 legacy side event and went 0-8. So I picked up Dredge components towards the end of that tournament and have been a deck flipper ever since. And yes, I still have friends to play M:tG with at a weekly basis.

Hi, I'm Lancer...
I've started playing in May 1996. A friend of mine was collecting cards from MTG and I thought it would be a thrill to buy a bunch a bunch of cards and form a deck to play him on my birthday, he kick my ass and I was determine to figure how to screw him and that's when I learned black/blue esp counterspell.
I was a heavy poster on the Wizards message board (1998?) and left in 2005 (I was getting married and most of my friends seemed to stop playing) I didnt want to part with my cards so I shelved everything.
I still have the love of the game and return posting in another message board in 2009. Currently I'm suspended on that board because of my own actions. I'll try not to be a total ass here.

Hi, I'm Jesse. 29 and from Southern Oregon. I started playing Magic in between Ice Age and Alliances, but quit during Urza's block due to waning interest in the game.
A co-worker of mine brought his cards to work a month before Lorwyn was released in 2007 and I was really curious- the cards looked really different from the ones I remembered back when. It really didn't take long to get me re-hooked on the game. Since I've been back my favorite expansion has been Zendikar, and my least favorite is Alara Reborn (I'm sure no one is surprised that that).
I play Standard because it is what my friends play. About 6 months ago I found this site and now all I want to do is play legacy =P I've managed to put together unLEDed Dredge and I'm looking forward to learning the deck inside and out before I move on to TES or ANT... or that new In Flames deck.

Obligatory introduction -
I play Legacy as my main format and EDH when I want to play with a group of people or friends who don't have Legacy stuff. I like to play all sorts of decks, I like goodstuff.dec variations, basically 3 color piles. I like G/W, I like Goblins, I like Burn, Stoneblade decks and U/x control decks.
I have a 1k+ post accnt. on SCG but I've been lurking this place for years and just never made an accnt. here. Can't wait to post and discuss decks and Legacy related stuff!

Hey, My name is steve but friends call me strings. I have been playing magic since 2010 after quitting YuGiOh. I have a good pulse on Standard and Modern but need to learn my Legacy. I plan on hitting the grind in 2012, so any help would be appreciated. I have a few buddys who together can help me build just about anything in Legacy so cost is not an issue. Just want to play the best deck and learn to meta game this format.

Hi, I'm radio414. If you see a radio414 in any other site, it's either me, or an impostor. I'm normally the more polite one, according to people whose actual identities I have no Idea of.
I have a lot of interests, Magic being one of the front-runners. I enjoy movie-going, graphic novel reading, especially Herge and Alan Moore.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, and now I realize I'm turning into a dating website, so I'll stop here.
I don't play Legacy often, but when I do, I play on Cockatrice. Never found the time to go to a GP. Username: radio414, but you probably knew that already.

I guess I get to start here. :)
Hi everyone! I've been playing Magic since about 96-97, but took a long break because it seemed like nobody other than my wife and I were playing the game in our area. Got back into it about 18 months ago because some of our students were playing the game and we wanted to be able to play with them.
The vast majority of my experience is in Standard. I recently started playing bigger tournaments, with my first being the SCG Open in Las Vegas last year. I also played in a PTQ over Thanksgiving Weekend. However, my biggest accomplishment (to date) is winning a SCG IQ last weekend.
I've been kicking around getting my feet wet in Legacy for quite a while now. However, with my win at the IQ, I no longer can just get my feet wet; I need to submerge myself in the water. This means not only trying to find a deck to play that I like, but also something that is going to be competitive.
I look forward to reading the various posts here and getting a better idea of the Legacy format.
Hi :)
I'm a long-time player and collector and have been since 1999. I play Legacy and Commander. My generals right now are Numot, the Devestator, Radha, Heir to Keld and Wydwen the Biting Gale. My Legacy decks are Tezz-Affinity, Pox and Berserk Stompy.
I'm silly and loud. And I love seeing the agony of defeat in my enemies. I do have my smarts :D

Hey I'm Ethan. I play Legacy in LA.
A year or two ago my friend showed me his belcher deck. He just had one land in it which boggled my mind. That's when I got into it. Since then he top 8ed a SCG open with belcher, and following in his footsteps I top 16ed the most recent SCG open with belcher. I like belcher.

My name is Steve. I live in Seattle now, but I'm from Stockbridge, Massachusetts originally. I'm a bike mechanic and a bike shop manager.
I'm getting back into Magic after a break of about 16 years. Legacy is definitely my favorite format right now (after two weeks of playing again) since I know some of the cards at least. I plan to play a lot in the near future, lose a ton of games, and eventually I'll surprise someone by winning a game. That's the plan.

Hello :)
My name is Philip, I'm 33 years of age and I was born in Amsterdam.
I'm a graphic designer and I live with my girlfriend and our two cats in The Hague, The Netherlands. I'm a spiritual person and I don't like rude people...
I started playing magic during the 'Legends' expansion (my first card was Hellfire) and I immediately knew I really liked this game! I continued playing magic, with sometimes a small break from the game, but I always returned and never sold my duals ;)
I tried tournaments but never really got into the scene mainly because I don't like the really competitive characters... Then during Lorwyn (I loved that expansion) I made a standard 'Rock' deck with Doran, goyf and seize and I really enjoyed that deck.
Then came rotation and I remembered why standard sucked. Fortunately a guy at the cardshop told me of something called Legacy, I had heard of it before but never gave it serious thought until then; I was going to make a competitive Legacy Rock deck!
So I did and I enjoyed playing Legacy (tournaments) alot! The scene was much friendlier then I was used to from standard, and I made lots of new friends to play with and visit tournaments together... I've been a lurker on the source ever since and I thought it was time to get registered by now.
I have sleeved up Bant Blade at the moment and I also enjoy my new Doran commander deck with 33 foils (most are from my treefolk collection)
I hope somebody will enjoy reading my story and I'll see ya all later ;)

Hi, my name is Trevor. I'm 34, live in Oakville, Ontario (just west of Toronto). I started playing Magic in 1994, played until 2000 or so, then started playing again during Rise of the Eldrazi. Started playing during Revised, my first rare I opened was Tropical Island.
I was never a great player, my DCI rating was sub-1600 before I stopped in 2000. I was primarily a control player back in the day, playing decks such as Prison (Winter Orb-Icy Manipulator), Humility, Big Blue/CMU Blue, and Counter-Oath (the Spike Feeder/Triskileon version). I picked the game back up when one of my buddies I used to play with found some friends who started to play. Since then, I've played a ton of standard (playing mostly decks that run Primeval Titan), abandoning my control roots and playing more aggressive or combo-ish decks.
My old collection got pillaged so getting into Legacy was a little tough. I can't find a lot of Legacy tournaments nearby, but I try to play when I can. I've been playing Affinity for the better part of a year now, the Tezz-Affinity version. I just picked up the cards for Dredge so I'll be trying that out at the next tournament.
What else......
Work - Selling high end industrial routers and switches to public utilities
Education - BA in Economics, MBA with a specialization in accounting
Marital Status - Happily married for 2.5 years. Still not sure what she sees in me tho :)
Car - 2007 Mazda 3
Music - EDM, Jazz, classic rock
Movie - Empire Strikes Back. Outside of The Trilogy, Apocalypse Now
Ethnic background - Irish and English
Colour - Purple
Favourite MtG card - Humility

I have been lurking around here quite a bit, then I figured I should post, it seems like the community here is filled with some good people.
I'm Mike, 26 years old, started playing Magic in 1995 when I went to the comic book store and bought my first starter deck of 4th edition. Quit playing in 2000 or 2001. Now I am getting back into it, and Legacy seems awesome because it lets me play some cool awesome cards I used to always want to play, without having to shell out crazy money to play vintage and without having to learn all the new sets.
I'm from NY, about an hour north of the city.
Judging from the introductions and what I'm seeing around the internet, its no surprise legacy and vintage are growing, a lot of people like me out there.
Most of what I'll post are questions, but hopefully one of these days I'll be enlightened enough to answer some too!

Hello everyone.
My name is Sam. I'm in the GTA. I started playing magic back in revised played some tournaments then, I slowed down significantly after homelands and finally quit during Urza Saga.
I started again during Rise of the Eldrazi. I played a rotation of standard, then ported over to Legacy prior to the banning of Jace and stoneforge mystic in standard. I kept a playset of Force of Wills and Wastelands before I quit many years ago but i sold off my power and duals. I traded a candelabra of tawnos for the duals I needed to build Blade Control.
I've been playing Legacy steadily for about a year and a half now and a long time lurker on these boards.

I don't know why I never posted in here before lol, so now that I've been coming here for the past year, here's a super late "hello" to all >^,^<
Back when it was onslaught/mirrodin/8th edition, I got into my first rated tourney, FNM of course, my first deck was R/W Astral Slide, even though the worlds deck that got first was G/W astral slide, I liked lightning rift in a heavy tribal/creature environment that was the type 2 at that time, Goblin bidding was the nuts! Elf and nail! etc etc etc, and of course one of the most hated decks of all time, affinity.
Anyhow, I did my first regionals after the rotation, 2005 Mirrodin/Kamigawa, pushing Tooth & Nail at a regionals with almost 400 people, was awesome, though I went 4/4 dropped before the last 2 rounds, I would have continued, but everyone else in our "group" had already dropped and they were all waiting on me to "go early" and I knew I wasn't top 8'ing with 4 losses, so I took my "broke even" record and said "ok"
Next year's regionals, 2006, Kamigawa/Ravnica was more promising, pushing boros, I almost pushed zoo BUT I really liked umezawa's jitte on a paladin en-vec and that enough to beat other zoo decks, so I just kept it at boros. Ended a 9 round regionals with a 6-3 record, definitely better than the previous year.
The 3rd, & final regionals for me, Ravnica/Time spiral, I pushed dragonstorm, having incredible success with it at fnm's, I think I won more fnm's with dragonstorm than I did with the previous 2 decks that I pushed for that time, but at the end of the day, I walked home after 9 rounds with again, a 6-3 record as the previous year.
Then the "hiatus" comes into play, I stopped playing/moved to another state all just after Lorwyn rotated in, then I didn't "come back" to magic until summer of 2011, so for me, I knew about Lorwyn, and since I came back when type 2 was Zendikar/Mirrodin blocks, I learned of them and I know enough from the sets, however the entire Alara block is a "blackout" period for me for magic, the only reason I know anything from that block is because of Knight of the Reliquary & Wild Nacatl and that's only because of Zoo & Maverick lol
When I decided to come back, I looked at type 2, but I leaned more towards pushing type 1.5 since I had older stuff anyway. So I started looking at stuff and I decided, since I had an old, illegal version of belcher with 4 tinker 4 wheel of fortune 4 mana crypt 4 lion's eye diamond 4 sol ring 4 mana vault 4 memory jar etc etc etc, I just revamped it to the legal version of the deck that is known as belcher in type 1.5, and I was really glad to see the Lion's eye diamonds were unbanned & at 50 bucks when I got them back then at 10, though it's because they were banned at the time. The other decks I decided upon were Zoo since it was consistent enough and was considered one of the top decks at the time, and I remember zoo from old type 2 ravnica and it seemed just fun to play, while the 3rd deck I decided upon was Dredge, and I remembered the old version of dredge that was Time Spiral type 2, & since testing it on magic work station was addicting, & it was cheap as heck to get.
Basically that's how I started out type 1.5, back at the end of summer/beginning of fall 2011, & since I found out there were no more regionals for type 2, I really just plunged into type 1.5 full throttle. Since then over the course of the past year, I traded lots of my old stuff for new stuff, and basically traded for more decks, completing Spiral Tide as my 4th deck, then Goblins as my 5th, then Pox & Stax as my 6th and 7th, followed by maverick being my 8th, what I will do for my 9th I am still not sure, but at this point I have little trade left, so I'll have to buy or trade other stuff.
Most of the decks I enjoy on the level as any other, though I don't play dredge all that often because of the hate, and I don't play zoo all that often because as much as I love the sligh style of the deck, since I had an old sligh deck back in the day when Jackal Pup, Ball lightning, Cursed Scroll & friends were all awesome, zoo right now is just not good enough, and every time I try to morph it with some hate bears, it just basically becomes Maverick. Belcher is fun but a glass cannon in an environment with lots of blue players makes the job hard, but I still bust it out every once in a while just to show that I'm that crazy. Pox is ok, I like the land destruction/resource denial part of the strat, but the fun'er version of trying to do that to me is in Prison stax. As far as turning guys sideways goes, I stick with goblins for that, since the goblins just keep coming, the deck is so resilient it's awesome. But the deck I love the most is a deck I enjoy on a whole other level that no other deck even comes close to, and maybe it's because im flippin nuts, but to me that is high tide.
I got so into the deck that I tested it out against literally everything from tier 1 RUG/Maverick/Stoneblade stuff, through the tier 1.5 all the way to things like tier 2 Death & Taxes, Affinity, Deadguy Ale, Team Italia, Painters stone variants, Enchantress, Lands, Cephalid Breakfast, etc etc etc. When the open series came to the area I just had to push high tide, even though i know it's not the most optimal deck, I am a believer in playing the best deck, if a best deck is, the best deck in the format, it is the best deck for a reason and I can't ignore that, nor fault anyone for doing that themselves, it's the smart thing to do. Anyhow, at the Starcitygames visit to Seattle on July-1st-2012, and just like the "old days of magic" that was my old regionals attempts, I wasn't alone, and there were about a dozen of us all from the local shops I played at, and we all had fun seeing how eachother were doing through out the day. At the end of the day, 2 of us walked out with top 64 placings out of almost 200 participants, & at the risk of coming off as "flashy" I pulled off 10th with this: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=47510
Then on September-9th-2012 the open series returned to the area hitting up Portland Oregon, and while not nearly as many of us went as last time, myself & 3 others still decided to go, and again we that went had another fun day of magic seeing how eachother were doing, playing our matches, talking about the "crazy stories" that was some of our games, all that fun stuff. I didn't do as well as I did in Seattle, but I still got 32nd somehow with a 4 win 3 loss record, while someone else from our group pulled off a top 8, placing 4th after it was all said and done with this: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=49262
I suppose at this point, I can only go on to talk about the future, as of this posting anyhow, which will be Starcitygames visiting the area again in Seattle in November, since that hasn't happened yet I can't post results of how I did lol. In either case, on a more local / weekly level, you can always find me in the tacoma area, if it's type 1.5 I will try my best to be there, usually it's comics cube in bonney lake on wednesdays & Exalted games of tacoma on sundays, hope you liked the super long introduction, and as always, have fun in the game. I myself enjoy it immensely, and I am a bit of a statistic's nutcase, I can't get enough of things like "too much information" articles that show every deck played, how it did, etc when they do that for the open series, I constantly keep myself up to date with the "metagame" and if you have seen me post before, it's either because you read a thread that is one of the 8 decks I push in legacy, so I post in those threads / keep up with them, etc, or you may have even come across the "Tier legacy decklists/prices/etc 50+ decks" that I have noted in my signature. Even though it's a ton of work to update it, I love seeing the trends and putting together the numbers myself, seeing the average this and that of a deck, so on and so on.

In the awkward process of leaving one's long-time lurker status behind, this is as good of a place to start as any.
I'm PhD student in Toronto studying intellectual history (particularly Cicero), and I've been playing legacy for about a year and a half now, and at least once a week for probably a little under a year. That is to say, I don't completely and utterly suck anymore, and thought I could improve more by actually taking part in some discussion here, as many of my fellow legacy friends aren't enthusiastic enough to keep working at this most wondrous and deep format.
I've been rotating decks at more casual tournaments, but focusing on high tide and more recently b/u snapcaster/strix/jace control (no delver). The latter deck is what has compelled me to cease to be a lurker: the deck has a ton of synergy, disruption, and resiliency, and is really a blast to play. I'm super keen on optimizing the list.
I've also been on the alpha train for about two years now, so if anyone has an alpha disrupting scepter, copy artifact, or nightmare, pm me ;)

Hello,
I am Bob, age 30, and i live in the Netherlands. I've been playing M:tG since around the Urza block and have been playing Extended into Legacy all along.
Decks i played over the years starting with standard:
Wildfire -> Tempest/Urza block
Yawgmoth’s Bargain/Skirge Familiar/Soul Feast -> Urza/MM Block
Tinker -> Urza/MM Block
Then i switched to Extended:
Surivival -> Deranged Hermit/Verdant Force/Tradewind Rider
Survival with intergrated Enduring Renewal/Goblin Bombardement/Shield Sphere combo support by Academy Rector
Donate -> Illusions of Grandeur
Oath of Druids (U/W/G) -> Morphling/Spike Weaver support by Abundance/Sylvan Library
Full English Breakfast -> Phage/Flowstone Hellion/IllusionaryNought later combined with StifleNought/Goyf
DreadStill Countertop -> Different combinations with Goyf/Trinket Mage/Lavamancer/Tombstalker
MUD -> Forgemaster/Goblin Welder (this really reminds me of the time playing wildfire and tinker).
OmniTell
And besides a lot of fun playing and expirimenting i am trying to construct a U/R(/w) control/tempoish list and hooking on to some tournaments.
Cheers

Hello,
My name is Lukasz, 31, Poland, mtg newbie, legacy lover. I've been reading The Source for about a year I think and at last decided to register. At present, I play mainly Merfolk and mono Burn (planning to make it UR) and my wife plays Death&Taxes at local tournaments, but we test and learn many other archetypes just to understand them (play better against them) and for fun. My fav deck: Goblins (planning to get these little bastards in the future). Well, you people of the Source, you helped me a lot (you're not aware, are you?) when I started playing and still the Source is the source for me. I hope I'll contribute somehow to The Source as well.
So, hello again from snow-covered Poland.

Never posted in here. I take pride in being a professional procrastinator. Anyways I learned how to play magic from my buddy when Kamigawa block first came out. My first deck was mono black zombies but after going 2-2 week after week in locals(25 player average) I decided to borrow some Force of Wills Trops and fetches to build UG madness. Did decent with that until my local scene dried up and the store went out of business. I kept playing in larger tournaments for a while until my almost fully pimped out mono black aggro control deck got stolen.
My boy Rodney and I created Dreadstill but we only had one copy so I never played it much in tournaments. My team of five had a bunch of decks built like Fetchland Tendrils, UGrb Survival, Ur Dreadstill, Ugr Thresh, Dragonstompy, Dredge and Goblins. When my friend Tom traded half the staples we needed for these decks just for a few FBB duals I decided to quit playing since we had two decks left as a team. I also had no cheaper staples(think StP LBolt Brainstorm) left since I left them in the team binder and never saw them again.... although I don't give a fuck because I said that I didn't care about them.
But now I'm getting back into magic again and I have no cards so it's incredibly hard especially since I'm more now broke than ever. I can't believe the prices of cardboard right now, god I wish I had all my foily therapies, wastelands, duresses, tops, and bobs. I hate thiefs, fucking pussies never try and steal from me when I'm there.
But I think I've quit for the last time and I'm back for good now, once I get my hands on a decent blue deck I'm gonna nerd it out for life.

Hey all. I'm Justin. I've been wanting to expand on my experience with Legacy (own a manaless dredge deck).
Otherwise I'm a generic starving college student. Hope to get more information about the format I love the most (to most of my friends bewilderment).

Hey,
I'm Patrick, age 30 and from the Netherlands.
Picked up playing Magic about 1,5 years ago after quiting when 5th edition was the current coreset and I think Mirage block was released. I started right after 4th was released so missed all the Alpha to Revised goodies back then.
Reason of picking up the game was because of duel of the planeswalkers on the PS3. I first started to buy back all the cards I sold for nostalgia's sake. Picked up played WoG's, Serra Angels, Nightmares and the sorts and found out things got a bit better nowadays.
Looking at cards like Emrakul and figuring out Progenitus could not be cast made me realise I really needed to catch up what I've missed for 1,5 decade. I realized the best creatures weren't Ernham Djinn, Mahamoti Djinn or Shivan Dragon. Statis and Kismet aren't good anymore and Force of Will is the best countermagic. Back then I preferred Arcane denial for the card draw, why throw away a blue card? And hardcasting a FoW, we had counterspell:)
At first I tried to avoid Planeswalkers and other comprehensive mechanics. Back then we had banding and flanking :). Also avoided format rules and just played with all the cool new insanely good cards (Eldrazies, Titans) and go for Elves and Angels tribal decks.
After reading up on formats I build myself a deck with the awesome Emrakul and was preparing for my first tournament: GP Amsterdam Legacy. Not wanting to netdeck, because I thought it wasn't creative, and not knowing what metagame was I played something like: SneakShow/CounterTop deck. That day I've learned a lot and wanted to know more of Legacy.
Since the GP my favorite format is Legacy. I also play Standard, but due to the heavily fluctuations of staples seems to me like a waste of money when I can buy legacy cards.
Since starting again, I've build up a quite complete legacy collection were I can now build all tier one decks I like.
I joined up to read interesting discussions about decks and stuff and maybe can contribute something as well.

I'm RT and I extend you all a warm greeting. I'm 24 and I live in Arlington, VA. I've played Vintage and Legacy since 2003 or so and have been browsing this forum since around 2006. I thought I had a profile from that time but evidently I only registered in 2010.
I used to live in northern Illinois so I may have met a few of you some time ago. I played only Vintage starting out but got into Legacy when I built a Goblins deck and a Survival deck. I've won exactly one tournament, a 20-player Vintage tournament with Dredge in 2006. I've played Dredge ever since then, participating in one tournament or so a year up until recently. I just got finished working in the Pentagon for the Air Force in October, and I'm just hanging out until I start graduate school next fall, so I've had some time to catch up on what's going on in Legacy. It looks like a lot of stuff is good, which is exciting to me.
I'm around if there's anyone in the Washington DC area that enjoys playing Legacy, Type 4, chess, or other games. Perhaps I'll meet some of you at Xanadu Games in Baltimore or in Washington next month when SCG comes to host a tournament.

Hi, I created an account on here once I found the site wasn't blocked at work. Heard about this site a while ago and decided to become a regular after reading a couple tournament reports. I ran aggro loam when I first started and currently have Sneak and show + 4-color loam control. I'm a big fan of foils. I like Life from the Loam and big beaters

I'm Matt. I got back into Magic about two years ago but play kitchen table from 1994-2000. I started playing at events about 1 - 1.5 years ago. Mostly standard and prerelease events. I then moved on to modern when I could find it. Now I also play legacy since it's available in the area.
I've recently been playing GW Enchantress (various wincons including RIP/Helm, Emrakul, Words of War, and Sigil of the Empty Throne) and Sneak and Show. I have Shardless BUG and Goblins built. I'm looking into finishing up High Tide. I like decks that I can play solitaire for fun to go through he iterations when I can't get any games in.
In real life, I teach elementary school.

Hey guys! You might know me as that person that WotC keeps sending their lawyers after every other month for drawing erotica for women & various other reasons I'm just not entirely sure of. I'm a Graphic Designer and Storyboard artist as my day job. You can also catch me on Johnathan Medina's website at LegitMTG and occasionally stuff for Manadeprived. I started playing MTG in summer the summer of 1995.
I guess my pet deck in Legacy is Mono-black Pox and my main competitive deck is Miracle Counter-top (RIP version). I don't have a ton of cash to blow, so I'm pretty much restricted down to those two main decks. I also do a bit of Modern competitive play which range from Mono Black Infect to all sorts of variations of UWR control. Basically Angels Midrange UW, Sun Titan Control UW, and Ajani Control UWR. I also have a few competitive Pauper decks, which I play with the Marines stationed here in SoCal.

Hi everyone!
I'm a PhD student from Bordeaux (France) and currently finishing my thesis (or roaming on The Source!). I'm 28 and have been playing Magic since around the Tempest block then quit around Mirrodin and got back recently with Innistrad. I am of course a Legacy player and enjoy a lot the mighty format that is Vintage. I play different archetype and like to play against different archetype.

Hi everybody, my name's Billy. I only got into magic just after Dark Ascension, but learned the ropes very quickly because of a fairly competitive LGS in my area. Being the only one in my family that plays, I don't have the advantage of my dad having old cards, or even them supporting my hobby. But I get what I can with my minimum wage job, and tend to use cheap but effective (though not necessarily competitive) decks while I gather the pieces for a better one! I currently run The Cure, but am gathering cards for High Tide.
Other than that, I casually mess around with a Restore Balance deck in Modern, as well as White Weenie and Pillow Fort in Standard. That's really it for me, so I'll leave with this deck idea my friends and I came up with that I haven't seen before:
167 Shadowborn Apostle
75 Blue/Black Lands
4 Rune-Scarred Demon
4 Battle of Wits

Hey guys,
My name is Gavin and I live currently in Las Vegas with my wife and son.
I'm really just a casual player who played a lot with friends back during Revised / Fallen Empires through Tempest. One of my best friends recently rekindled my interest in the game and got me back into collecting and some playing. My favorite format is "Rainbow Magic" which we used to play all the time back in the day. I'm currently mostly playing EDH head's up with my friend over Skype and its been a lot of fun. I have no current plans to actually play in any Legacy/Vintage tournaments, however I love the nostalgia and artwork on many of the old cards and have begun putting a collection back together for fun. I am amazed at what prices have done over the past 15 years. I remember owning 3 Mishra's Workshops when they were $25-$30 each. I'm sure a lot of people here have those stories. Anyhow, I'm not on a budget and am looking for a whole lot of cards from all sets for casual play (probably the Power 9 at some point also). Haha.
Cheers and thanks for having me!

Hello all, I'm The Doctor :D (not an actual doctor, I just like the show)
I have been playing magic since around invasion block, but it was casual for most of the time, and it was an on and off thing. I never was into standard, but I got into legacy around 2008 or 2009 if I remember correctly.
I have actually known about the source for a while, and I even read stuff from the forums from time to time, but I never bothered registering because I used mtgsalvation. I registered now because I realized that I care about legacy the most anyways, so why not? :)

My name is Lee; I'm 40, live in Ohio, and am a CPA. As best I remember, I picked up my two pack a day habit back in the Summer of 94. I was never able to get my hands on any unlimited or earlier boosters but had full Revised, The Dark, and Fallen Empires. Stopped playing and buying somewhere around 4th Ed. Haven't played in a loooong time but thought I'd check to see what the prices were like these days and immediately regretted not paying 200 for a Beta Black Lotus when I had the chance!
I'm curious if anyone on this board has dealt with any of the online buying or selling sites? I'm looking to sell some dual lands and pick up a few cards from Arabian Nights but don't want to get ripped off. Any recommendations or warnings would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lee

Hey Lee, cool you're on here. Always love to see some veterans come back to Magic, especially when it's Legacy.
Regarding buying online, the big guys like Starcitygames and ChannelFireball are super safe and usually have great customer service. But of course, that comes at a little extra. I wouldn't recommend buying high tier cards like Power from just some random guy. Also look out for SCG Opens or any kind of Grand Prix in your area, where you should usually be able to find about any card you desire AND get to have a real look at it before buying.
Welcome to The Source!

Hello,
I'm getting back into the game after a 13 year break. All my cards are only usable in Legacy so here I am. Traded away most of my Vintage cards to get some of the new broken cards, and am still amazed at how awesome creatures got while I was gone.I'm a bit rusty, but I'm working on getting a decent deck together.
I'm a native Californian on the Peninsula in the Bay Area. Thanks for having a great community.
Cheers.

Hey all! Wanted to definately introduce myself here, since I have a feeling I will be spending alot my time here moving forward. I started playing magic back in 94.. Around the time legends was still in stores since I remember buying packs of it then. I stopped playing in 2002 in where I sold off my cards (moxes, duals etc) to pay rent one month.... Anyways its 11 years later and I am back strong. Re-buying old collections and cards that brought so many memories as a child. I am sure many here have that same emotional attachment to some cards that I am experiencing all over again. Not to mention learning about 11 years worth of cards in the middle there.
I'm 32 years old and am a working concept artist in the game industry.. and lately I am even painting custom playmats for people here in austin! LOVE the fact I found a community as into vintage / legacy cards as I am.

Hello everyone!
28 years old guy from Finland. I only play MtG in MtG:O and my collection isn't yet at a point where I can really play legacy, but I am slowly getting there. Speaking of which if anyone can point me to a resource which has legacy staples listed (sort of a checklist for me to build collection) I would appreciate it!
In modo I mainly play pauper and limited. I am also part of Pauper to the People podcast staff. I live on another continent than the other hosts so I don't feature in the podcast too often but I help them to run the forums and work with some topics etc.
I pretty much go by the username yugular in everywhere. mtgo, mtgs, themanadrain, paupertothepeople forums etc etc.

Hello!
Old-skool mtg-player here. Been back watching online since... Pro Tour Dark Ascention mainly. After that, I've gathered my old cards and slowly decided what I wanted to play exactly. After I found two Gaea's Cradle I've hid for myself since... I guess 2002, I decided my first new constructed deck would be Elves, of course. Since then my main hobby in MtG is still watching tournaments, especially the Legacy-ones. I've also played two Legacy-tourney's at GP Utrecht, I live in the Netherlands. I like to play Magic winston-draft though and I'm seriously thinking about a Winstoncube. But of course, I'm here to discuss Legacy...

Hello everyone! My name is Andrew and I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I picked up MTG when I was younger during the Urza's Saga block and had quit around Planeshift. I started playing again about a year ago after getting hurt too many times in sports and was looking for another creative/competitive outlet. After playing a lot of limited, I realized I missed playing with old and powerful cards so I decided to play legacy. My current completed decks include Omnitell and Sneak and Show, while currently trying to finish combo elves.

My name is Julien, I'm 30 and live eastern from France near Germany and Switzerland. I began to play during the FBB period in Europe and stopped after mirage. I'm back into the game for 4 years thanks to my mother who ask me to clean all the garbage I left for years and I found my old binder and decks. After that I first realised that the game was not dead, that my friends also kept their cards and that with internet I had the possibility to obtain all the cards of my dream i.e Power
Since then I only play T1 for competitive and casual multi player but I have to admit now that vintage scene is nearly dead localy so I decided to switch to legacy and I'm here

Hello, my name is Andrew. I am an unemployed 23 year old looking to play as much magic as possible. I started playing magic around Odyssey as a super casual, not even aware that there was a competitive side to the game. I quit around Kamigawa because I hated the new borders, and they didn't print enough goblins. I got back into it during Rise of the Eldrazi, all my friends only wanted to play standard, so I got into competitive magic. I still hate the new borders, but I now play draft, Standard, Modern, Legacy, EDH and cube, and would love to play Vintage too if that was a format in Iowa.
I am always looking for more people to play with, I want to get as good at this game as I can, especially the best format, Legacy.

Hi everyone
I used to play around late Urza block to beginning of Odyssey with a good friend then stopped playing for some reason I cannot remember.
I remember I used to be one of the worst players at my grade school in magic because everyone had fancy cards/ I didn't know how to play. It was so frustrating losing to my friend all the time with his absurd control decks. My parents bought me the Deckmasters box so I decided let me try using those decks, I just shoved more incinerates and storm shamans in there to make it viable. One game I managed to just soul burn and incinerate my friend out of nowhere.
My friend tried to get me back into Magic with the M10 sealed prerelease event. It was obvious I still didn't know what I was doing, I didn't even know you had a second main phase . I managed to win a game because my friend helped me with the deck. The experience was pretty bad due to the LGS being full of dicks so I ended up not getting back into it.
Now just like four months ago my friend again convinced me to play this time with MTGO. I was having fun again and wanted me to play in a legacy tourney with him this month, he gave me an Innistrad Fat pack and an M14 fat pack he had left over. Out of the Innistrad pack I got 2 Liliana of the Veils in them and one Chandra, Pyromaster in the other one.

Hey, I go by Gio. I used to play super smash bros competitively but it eventually became a bit boring to me. I played magic a ton back starting with nemesis but it was only very casually. I switched from smash to magic around the time return to ravnica was released (ravnica was my favorite set when I was little), and have since been amazed at the depth and strategy that legacy has. I've slowly been buying my way into the format since. I've been playing Merfolk at my local game store in Ann Arbor, but am currently finishing up buying the blue fetchlands. I'm probably going to build a delver or stoneblade variant. I've found that a lot of the skills I learned from playing video games at the top level has translated pretty well over to magic, but magic requires perhaps more long-term planning skills.

Hello everyone!
I've been lurking this forum for a long time, and my soon to come internship to London made me register at last for I am willing to meet some players to chat, play legacy and EDH.
I am a French player myself, browsing the forums of Legacy France, and will remain in London for the next 6 months to come.
So feel free to contact me, I would be very glad to meet you guys :)

Hi,
I should present myself, then maybe I dare to say something more.
I am a geek, that enjoy boardgames and magic as some of my hobbies, and write code for a paytv operator do get the money for the boardgames and magic cards.
I started playing Magic the first time in the 90s on an rather abonded island with the cards blowing away, and from then I played to and from. I got back into the game in 2012 with EDH and drafts, but have lately got fascinated by loseing in legacy just like when I was starting to play the game so I started to build a Goblin deck. This is far from finished yet and might turn out to become more decks as the format is so much fun.

I kind of just jumped into here lately, but I guess I should introduce myself... I'm a long-time lurker. I had an old account, but lost the info for it. Anyway, I've been a big follower of Legacy since Time Spiral block. I'm trying to give Modern more of a chance, but on a more casual level. I'm starting an organization called Building Better Gamers, which will help people get better at games. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot away.

Hello there! I'm new to actually playing Legacy but not to Legacy coverage and Magic in general. I started playing right after the original Ravnica was released. I started with Extended back when the format was sweet because it included most of the card my friends played at the time. After building No-Stick SCG was pushing Vintage at the time with it Power Nine events. Of course proxy decks ensued. Being about 15 at the time, I couldn't afford much. My dad got me a Grim Tutor for my birthday and three starter packs one of which had another one it. Best pack ever obviously. I decided to sell those since Vintage wasn't realistic and there was no support for it in my area, buying Hallowed Fountains when they cost about the same as Tundras...ten years later I see I made a massive mistake. After playing Standard regularly for years I grew bored. I wanted to play Legacy but my fast food job didn't cut it. But now I've joined the military and have plenty of disposable income. So here we are. I love blue cards and Storm combo. Also foils and German cards.

Hello Everyone,
I'm a Boston based legacy lover who got back into magic from a 12 year hiatus during Innistrad. Currently I have to travel extensively for work and I hope to help find events/games on this site!

Hi.
I first picked up Magic around Mirage, but didn't actually get a deck until around 7th edition's release (being a kid sucks, heh). Quit @ Mirrodin because Magic was a little too ridiculous at that point and just recently came back to the game. I'm pleasantly surprised at the health of 1.5 and I had the cards from before, so here I am. I like drawing cards and playing combos, so Enchantress is my deck of choice ;). I've lurked here a bit and have learned so much; This site is a fantastic resource.

If not for anything else you'll usually catch people off guard with Enchantress; It has its own intricacies not apparent to your opponent.
Anyways welcome aboard.

I've prob been playing since I was 14 as well! Cool that you got back into Magic. It truly is cardboard crack haha.
Well I hope you find this place a valuable resource. Also do you like Kevin Garnett? Just curious because of your username. ;p
