Since this is a one-off question for my benefit I figured I would make a new thread rather than necro a very old one.

I have had some bad luck recently. Among my misfortunes, I was sent three Red Elemental Blasts which are Unlimited with their borders colored black (I bought "Beta").

I wanted to get some new Beta Red Elemental Blasts. I asked the guy to send me a scan so I could examine them. He was kind enough to, but these look fake to me too. Am I too paranoid these days?
I don't see the white at the corners which are present on most Beta and the stroke around the card seems very dark against the black border. Typically, this stroke is lighter than the black border on Beta cards.

Would you folks kindly weigh in? I'm tired of the bullshit and just want some Beta REB. I thought the scans would put me at ease but it did the opposite.

Thanks...

They look real - the double border is there, but it looks like someone inked the white spots. If you're concerned about fakes, you'd be better off buying Alphas, as they are easily distinguishable from knockoffs due to the misprint.

Thanks for giving me second opinions. I think I am being too cautious and will acquire them.

Much appreciated.

If you look for imperfections to signal that it's fake, you will find them every time. Same is true of women by the way. Well, maybe not fake in that case but you get the idea.

Mine are identical the the ones here, and were collected back in the day.

As everyone else said, they look legit.

Aside from some random idiot coloring the borders with a marker, in general, I don't think you have to worry about a lot of counterfeit Red Elemental Blasts going around. LOL.

I likely won't ask again unless it's sketchy looking power.

Can a mod close the thread now?

Thanks!

It is my understanding that beta volcanic islands and beta rebs don't have the white dots due to being misprinted in alpha (or just not being printed at all in volcanic islands case).

You shouldn't be paying more than a pack of cigarrettes for each of these, if they look sharp and there's nothing wrong with them when sleeved, what's the problem?

On the same note, I have been trying to figure out why all of these look so different from each other for a long time. I never really looked into it since they are just REB's, but it is weird to see such a difference in them. I know one is because it's Alpha, but why such a difference? Does anyone know the story? Also, the other two are betas, but why do they look so different from each other? Check out the type on the one on the right, it's much blurrier than the other. It feels different also when held, but why would anyone fake one of these? I could see doing it nowadays since they are worth more than the 50c or a dollar I paid for them back then, but I've had them since Fallen Empires or so. Back then they were no more than 50 cents so faking one was stupid.

One's a blurry print REB (which is quite common, on your right dahcmai) one's a regular print (on the left) and the other's Alpha. Blurry print has the "C" for copyright printed awkwardly, as with some of the text.
