Registering on The Mana Drain?

Sorry if this is against the site rules, but I occasionally lurk on TMD, and my understanding is that there are a decent number of Sourcers who also browse TMD for their Vintage needs. I recently saw a question about the local Seattle Magic community, and wanted to help out by posting a response.

However, after attempting to register, I was informed that GMail accounts cannot be used. I am not aware of any other forum with such a policy. Do they expect members to use a .edu account (which I will not do for Internet forums), or is this something like Magic Librarities where you're supposed to email an administrator or someone with special privileges in order to get your account activated?

If you have another email account besides gmail you can use that to register.

Hey guys. I know it's a huge pain in the ass, and I'm sorry, but we've had to ban a ton of email addresses because of gigantic spam problems. If you want an account, but don't have a email that works, I can manually set up the account for you.

Just message me (or any TMD moderator/admin) with the email address (gmail is fine for this) and username you want - I can set up an account with a temporary password, which you can change once you log in. If you're going to message me on TMD, I'm "TheBrassMan" over there.

I know that's annoying, and we're trying to get a better system in place, but for now us manually setting up the account is the best we can do.
