I've been messing around with Blue, Green, Black Madness for awhile, and it's come close several times, but I think some recent printings might have finally given it the final oomph it was missing before. This is what I'm looking at starting out with:

Lands
4x Wasteland
3x Polluted Delta
3x Misty Rainforest
2x Island
3x Tropical Island
3x Underground Sea

Creatures
4x Putrid Imp
4x Basking Rootwalla
4x Bloodghast
4x Vengevine

Sorceries
4x Careful Study
4x Ideas Unbound
4x Cabal Therapy
4x Hymn to Tourach

Instants
4x Daze
4x Dark Ritual

Planeswalkers
4x Liliana of the Veil

Sideboard
4x Spell Pierce
4x Tormod's Crypt
4x Nature's Claim
3x Dismember

The idea is combine the kind of powerful starts you get from Dark Ritual with the potential of a 1st turn planeswalker and the medium game of Vengevine/Bloodghast assaults. The above list is 62 cards. I'm not really sure what to cut from it yet, or if there should be more changes to it. I know some obvious choices, like Cephalid Coliseum are missing. Force of Will was left off intentionally, because I didn't want to have to worry about the blue count, and because this deck wants to tap out on draw discard spells every turn, not pitch those draw/discard spells to FoW. Tarmogoyf and Dark Confidant are missing because I was worried about fitting them in space wise, but again, that could very much be a bad decision. One reason that Putrid Imp made it is due to wanting one drops to combine with Hymn off of a t1 dark ritual, and for making it easier to trigger Vengevines, because you can cast both an Imp and a Rootwalla for B.

Turn one Liliana allows for some truly stupid openings, like this one, which I just made up from magical christmasland.

T1: Dark Ritual, Liliana, Discard something you want in the graveyard, Go.
T1: Land, something that you counter with Daze.
T2: Discard a Bloodghast. Wasteland whatever land they have out.
T2: Land, critter.
T3: Land, cast a draw/discard spell to set up for Vengevines next turn, Liliana kills their dude.
T3: Land, another dude.
T4: Liliana kills their guy, bring out Vengevine, beat face ftw.

Obviously that's the dream, but there are a lot of other ways to do some really, really profitable stuff with Liliana out on turn 1, plus she enables madness and makes life hard for your opponents, killing dudes and emptying hands.

This is very much a work in progress, and I'd love to hear feedback and other ideas on it, I'm not at all married to any of the ideas here, so if you think you see problems or have a concept for an upgrade, feel free to point them out. Thanks.

I realize your blue spells is your source of card advantage, but cant help wonder if you wouldn't be better of with only 2 colors, blue splash doesn't really seem worth it.

Without blue you could fit in Dark Confidant, Tarmogoyf and Sylvan library (to avoid confidant/vengevine lifeloss).

Green is probably the color you want to cut in the first place if you need to cut any. I've not tried the list but I see little advantage of paying green mana in your deck. Basic island looks useless.

I'm not sure you want dark ritual. It looks unimpressive except for powering Liliana in play on turn 1.

Also, you play 16 discard outlet (+cabal therapy and even hymn) for only 12 cards you want to discard. I think you should reduce your discard outlets and play more cards you'd like to discard. In particular, Imp looks bad and Squee/Life from the Loam might be good. However, you wouldn't probably play enough creatures to cheat Vengevines.

I don't like Dark Ritual. It is only useful with Liliana in the opening hand.

But where is Wild Mongrel? THE Madness creature.

I feel like the mana costs could be harsh (UU, BB, GG). => Cut blue, or cut Ideas for Intuition.
Probably also needs more creatures to trigger Vengevine.

Maybe you also want to try Zombie Infestation. I tried it in Modern with 4 Squee and it did quite well.

I can't help but think that the deck would be better BG. I'll try to whip up a list, but it might have: Putrid Imp, Lilliana of the Veil, Basking Rootwalla, Wild Mongrel, Arrogant Wurm, Buried Alive, Vengevine, Bloodghast, Zombie Infestation, Life from the Loam.

Whoops, that's 10 sets right there.

I like the digging ability of the blue cards. But anyway, I think that the overall theme can only be casual since it has only drawbacks where you compare it to Dredge.

Hi Guys,

I'm also trying to make a B/G madness. Here's my build. I just added memnite and birds(mana producing and possible 2nd turn buried alive) to make sure there are enough creature be played and activate venge's ability. Garruk is there for the overrun effect since there are a lot of crittters.

Please feel free to comment if you see how to make this deck better. Thanks.

4 Birds of Paradise
4 Wild Mongrel
4 Putrid Imp
4 Fauna Shaman
4 Basking Rootwalla
4 Vengevine
4 Bloodghast
4 Memnite
4 Buried Alive
4 Garruk Wildspeaker
