Hi guys!

As is probably obvious from the title, this is a stompy shell featuring Liliana of the Veil. My main motivation to explore this archetype was the question "what to do with liliana in legacy?" The idea of dark ritual-ing her into play on turn 1 quickly became very appealing, especially after misstep was banned. So I started to try to build a deck around the premise "4 dark ritual, 4 liliana, the rest is negotiable" and this is where I ended up.

The deck:

4 Bloodghast
4 Gathan Raiders
4 Stinkweed Imp
4 Shriekmaw
2 Tombstalker

4 Chalice of the Void
3 Trinisphere
4 Liliana of the Veil
2 Umezawa's Jitte

4 Dark Ritual
3 Chrome Mox
4 Ancient Tomb
12 Swamp
2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
4 Verdant Catacombs

Gameplan
It's functioning is pretty straightforward for anyone who's familiar with stompy:

1. get 2-3 mana on turn 1 using one or a combination of:
ancient tomb
dark ritual
chrome mox

2. make a devastating/game altering turn 1-2 play:
chalice of the void
trinisphere
liliana of the veil

3. Play your deck normally, since most of your lock pieces don't mess around with your game plan much while they are (hopefully) putting your opponent in a very awkward position and giving you a temporarily huge tempo advantage.

Creatures
I don't think gathan raiders, tombstalker and shriekmaw require much introduction nor justification. As for the others, Bloodghast synergizes very well with discard effects (gathan, liliana) and serves as a recursive jitte carrier. While stinkweed synergizes with discard effects a bit less, he serves as an even stronger recursive jitte carrier or death touch blocker for when things don't go according to plan (I'm looking at you, tarmogoyf!) Stinkweed also has some marginal cute applications such as dredging on turn 1-2 for an extremely early tombstalker or luckily dredging into bloodghasts for increased board presence.

I haven't given much thought to the sideboard, but obviously it's going to be very important since you need gy hate and better ways to fight aether vial decks when you're on the draw. But let's focus on main deck ideas for now.

So please, if you have any of the following, don't hesitate:

1. Criticism on my card choices/numbers
2. Interesting cards that I haven't included but you believe should be considered
3. Similar lists that others have played/brainstorm

How bout Ichorid? I also think 22 lands with 3 moxen and 4 rituals might be too many lands.

my main gripe is that the creatures you chose have too little power/utility for their cost. Tarmogoyf and Knight of the Reliquary will both simply be bigger. I like the Stinkweed Imps though.

Have you considered Volrath's at all? Works well with Dredgers like Stinkweed and Evokers.

Have you ever thought about makeing your curve lower for confidant? you also might want to play more creatures. is it me or is your creature count increadably low. also the short sword seems really odd.

Ichorid doesn't appeal to me much, well at least not in this kind of build. He reminds me a lot of bloodghast, and he's probably the worst creature on the list atm. Yeah, the mana base might be a bit too fat, I haven't done much testing.

Yeah was definitely a big concern, and the main reason stinkweed and jitte are there. The deck is currently more angled as an "all out" type stompy as it is, but with the addition of liliana it might work better as a control stompy, similar to the stax approach to the shell. I will probably do some brewing with a control approach as well to see if it shows promise.

Yeah I have. I dismissed it because getting BB was so important for many cards, but its possible that it should be included anyways, especially if it has more targets like fleshbag marauder or sth. Afterall, volrath is a pretty hard lock against aggro.

Condifant is the shit no doubt, but I fear you are losing too much life already from the tombs, not to mention its hard to have a low curve in a stompy deck. I think if confidant were added to the list, it would drift you to a different archetype altogether, probably a MB aggro + liliana + thoughtseize/hymn type deck.
I'm guessing short sword = jitte? :P

With Spheres and Chalice i would really like to play 4 wastelands.
Otherwise you are killed by opposing bombs for 4mana and there are a lot.
