A couple of months ago I ordered an alteration of Ill-Gotten Gains from Gus Schade and everything went smoothly. The latest e-mail I got from him was:

Yes! Everything is going well :) IGG is done and will be sent this week.
I have an abnormally large workload right now, and I'm shoveling my way through it.
It is messing up my sleep schedule, hahaha.

And that was the 18th September. Since then I have heard nothing from him. Does anyone know him or of him? Just wanted to either try to communicate with him using this board or warn others that there might be a problem sending him money up front (lets hope that is not the issue here).

Has anyone heard from him after the 18th of September?

Gus is probably just busy. His workload for alterations is typically ridiculous at any given time of the year. To be honest I doubt you are getting ripped off. Also his name is Yawg07, so you might have been ripped off if it was someone names Yawg09.

I had him do Tarmogoyfs for me a while back (years ago, actually), and at one point he actually lost them/they got stolen/something. It took a couple months, but eventually four altered Tarmogoyfs showed up in the mail, plus I think he threw in something extra to make up for it (I can't remember what).

But yeah, he's very difficult to get hold of but will follow through.

Duly noted. I went through my e-mails and it is indeed 07 and not 09. It is kind of troublesome that he has not answered my e-mail in soon two months time though, is it not?

He's a trustworthy guy, I bought some EDH foils from him on ebay a while ago and I almost thought that package was lost, but after 35-40 days, everything arrived. As others said, he's just busy at the moment probably.

He's a good friend of mine. Trust me, you'll get your card(s). He's working through a huge backlog of commissions.

He does tend to overload himself. I had a couple done also and it took forever, but he's good for it.

He's also famous for being slow to answer messages. His inbox is typically full and I can imagine he has a hell of a time going through all of it.

I had 6 alters done by him and the turn around was about 3 weeks. He was prompt on getting the cards done and replies to emailing had never taken more then one day. I wouldn't worry about it, you will get your alter and it will exceed your expectations because yawg is a master.

Two of my friends have been having tremendous amounts of trouble with Gus over alterations. I would strongly recommend against working with him. One of them has been waiting at least 6 months or more for his cards, and the other had to file a claim on ebay in order to get refunded.

Well, when you do a lots of business, in any field, there's always a serie of event that will make a custummer receive bad service once in a while, it's impossible to have 100% satisfaction rate, any business owner that tell you the opposite are the one you should 'nt trust!

Yawg have a great reputation, give him some time, im pretty sure thing's will work out.

This is true. As someone who was in the same boat as Tha Gunslinga's friends at one point, I can say that Yawg will (eventually) follow through. He's just very difficult to contact and takes a long time to do commissions.

I have commissioned him in the past, and will never do so again, just for the reasons stated in this thread. Gus is online all the time. I enjoy his work, but it's not worth waiting that long for someone who doesn't have the decency to simply let you know what's going on.

anybody had any luck to reach him since this thread had been opened?

Nothing. I have to assume that he is a bad trader and that he decided to keep all the money/cards he was commissioned. It's sad really that he could not take an hour of his time to atleast send back the money/cards he had gotten.

He's just really lazy or just really doesn't want to deal with things. He's not stealing your cards/money.

Sounds like he needs to be much more realistic about his workload.

He hasn't been on since 20.12.11 and also hasn't sent any of his last ebay actions so i actually don't think that he is just lazy.

There must be a more serious issue than just his workload...

I heard that he tends to overload himself a lot with too many commissions at the same time but i'm waiting for mine for more than 6 month now, haven't heard anything from him since about November and haven't heard from anybody who received any answer or commissioned cards from him lately.

I would really love to think that this will have a happy end but it doesn't look like it at all...

That sucks, I'm a huge fan of Yawg's alters but I wasn't aware he's unresponsive with regards to commissions. As long as the buyer is respecting him and giving him some time, that should be reasonable but to completely push it off and be uncommunicating is not a very good reflection on your quality as an artist meeting quotas.

Well doesn't he live in the Philippines/ Thailand or in that surrounding area? It hasn't been reported much but there has been massive flooding in that region for a while, which may be why he hasn't been online at all. I dont know the severity, but it is the cause of the massive price increase of hard drives, which suggests that it is significant to say the least. Just an possible explanation.

@Phonics, Poxy is the one who lives in the Philippines.

Right, Yawg I believe lives in the Ohio region.

I would figure if he hasn't been online on any of the forums he was active (here, Sally, EDH main forums) and hasn't shipped or responded or had any activity on his ebay account lately he might have run into some form of trouble.

Giving the benefit of the doubt he might have run into either legal trouble or gotten into an accident or something and has been unable to access the internet or the cards.

On the flip side, he might have just decided fuck it all and dropped off the face of the earth.

Only way to find out is to get in touch with some of his personal friends that know him and can either tell the story or find out.
