With an abolisher in play, can the opponenet use a macabre from hand? I was told no, but on magic online it is allowed. Does anyone know for certain?
Let's see...
Grand Abolisher
Faerie Macabre
and the FAQ...
9/22/2011: Grand Abolisher doesn't stop your opponents from activating abilities of artifact, creature, or enchantment cards in zones other than the battlefield (like cycling abilities, for example).
9/22/2011: Grand Abolisher doesn't affect triggered abilities or static abilities.
So, yes - you can use abilities for cards not on the Battlefield.

Faerie Macabre isn't a creature when it's in someone's hand, it's a creature card. Grand Abolisher only stops the activated abilities of creatures (and some other kinds of permanents).
