Everyone wants to get ahead of the game and in past years we have seen a dramatic hike in prices i wanna get a jump on cards with a future in legacy and other formats. I wanna know what the legacy community thinks what cards will go up over time as the sets rotate and cards become more scarce. Here are some of the ones i believe will go up over time and people should stock up on.
1. All zendikar fetches( we already see them going up and and the blue ones misty and scalding tarn are played in most legacy decks and will probably hit old fetchland prices of 20 to 25 dollars or more
2. Snapcaster mage (lets face it this guy is a staple in alot of decks and his potential has still not fully been discovered
3.Vengevine (i think this card has more play then it has been showing and something could bring it back up to the 35-40 dollar range with the new sets coming out right now its about 10 im scooping these up
4. Inkmoth nexas ( best manland since factory people know its power and it will always see play
5. Dismember (lets face it 1 mana kill spell playable in every deck, force of will in 5 years maybe not but still a uncommon card to look out for
These are just some cards off the top of my head but any input would be appreciated

We have one or two of these threads already. People hoarding legacy staples is annoying as fuck.

Stuff that comes to mind from recent/standard sets that is probably worth grabbing when it rotates for Legacy playability...

+ Scavenging Ooze (don't know how it's printing/reprinting is handled, but clearly good)
+ Liliana of the Veil
+ Swords of X & Y (if B&M and F&F price drop with rotation they're safe buys)
+ Inquisition of Kozilek
+ Green Sun's Zenith

I could see Moorland Haunt and Stromkirk Noble being played at some point. The Haunt seems usable in an SFM shell as a kind of Bitterblossom-esque land and the Noble seems alright having protection from all the Wizards and Knight of the Reliquary, pro-Humans seems like an ability that will stay powerful/get more powerful with time.

Scavenging Ooze and the other Commander cards should only even go down in value or remain constant because the pre-cons are not limited print runs.

Sure in a few years they might become hard to find but not for a while.

Yeah, you could be as smart as all the people who were speculating on Legacy and Modern cards the last 12 months who undoubtedly lost handfuls of money. Why would anyone want to miss out on an opportunity like that? Yeah let's stock up on Zendikar fetches. I mean the old fetches came out what 9-10 years ago and had a much lower print run and now a Polluted Delta is worth $30. All I have to do is wait 9 years and I could 2.5x my money, sweet...

Is this the best thing you losers have to do with your money? If you want to play the game buy the cards, if you want to make money invest in stocks like a non-idiot.

I'm pretty sure magic card "investors" or "speculators" aren't often the smartest people. It might explain why there are so many of them and why they have such a significant effect on the market (remember Pyromancer's Swath and the red Shoal?).

If you can't understand what wotc means when they say they won't allow fast combo in a format what has to be wrong in your mind to make you think you should stockpile cards that enable a fast combo? I hope those people did lose money because I hope they learned a lesson from it.

The amount of money to be made by speculating or trading magic cards pales in comparison to working any job, even just at a McDonald's or something and it's a pain in the ass that we all have to spend more on cards because of the speculator mentality.

Back on topic: I think the time to buy Snapcaster is whenever you actually need them to play. The price will probably go down some as Innistrad continues to be drafted though. Since I don't urgently need them I don't think there's any risk waiting a few months but once he is not being printed or leaves standard I expect Dark Confidant prices.

Let me try this again since some of my sarcasm seems to be missed here...

If you buy Magic cards expecting to make money and you don't run a store you are an idiot.

For every story someone tells you about how smart they are because they bought XXX card at whatever price and made a profit there are other stories about the time someone was an idiot and bought a lot of cards that ended up not going up in price and being hard to unload.

If you want to speculate on something try the stock market. You can make like 100X as much money and you can buy and sell almost instantly on the market. The time you waste just looking for cards to buy and looking for people to sell them to you are practically working a minimum wage job best case scenario.

I was agreeing with you not trying to refute what you said.

I think we are saying the same thing.
