Am I right in thinking that this article can be summed up as "play well and prepare for the meta"?
It's hard to say because I found myself just skimming. The article had nothing that grabbed my attention.
It may come across as harsh, but you did ask for constructive criticism at the end of your article. I'm not clear on who your target reader was. The advice so basic that competetive players already do/know this, but so generic that casual players are unlikely to be helped.
This second point is especially true when you consider that you advocate picking a deck to beat the meta; casual players are likely to have limited options in this regard. And again, people with multiple competetive decks lying around don't need to hear this.

I'm the writer of the article, and you are partially right. Obviously my targets are competitive players for reasons you already mentioned. I do however think the line you propose between casual and competitive players is not nearly as black and white as you make it out to be. I know a lot of players that have been casual players for a long time and started playing competitively. Newer players will still learn quite a lot from it and I think there are several points made in the article that even a lot of longer time competitive players are not (consciously) aware of.
Even if you will not learn a lot from it, I think there is still something for almost everybody. The story behind the GP, how we came to the deck we went to play and had a combined record of 28-9 with (between 3 players, over 75% match win on a GP is pretty sick) and explaining the logic behind certain choices. I always enjoy articles like this even though there might not be a lot of new information in it. But you are right, this might be too generic, especially for The Source. I wanted to do a generic article as my first one. My next one will be more in-depth, focused on a specific archtype, I hope you will give it a try and thanks for the criticism, it's not harsh, I asked for it :D

I thought it was a fine read.
I'd agree the advice is basic, but there's definitely a sample of Legacy players that could get better at the format by this read. Knowing how to play one's deck against the DTBs is something that requires practice and I'd agree that discussion/brainstorming after matches can help a player get better. Having a playtest team or regular practice events is a huge way to buff one's skills for larger events. The section on SB construction is something that people should bear in mind as well. Diversification of hate/answers, and also having cards that are flexible enough against Legacy's randomness.
For people that practice Legacy a lot most of this is obvious, but for a new comer trying to get better at the game/format it's good advice.
Good read, keep up the good work ^^
