Well Ive been playing since 93ish and if I play my cards right (pun intended), eat right, and hit the gym I should have another 40 or so years left in me XD

My grand-folks played cards every Tuesday until they passed. I don't see why Id be any different. I don't know how much of that will be competitive, Ive been falling out of love with competitive again lately but I dont see myself ever really giving up the game entirely.

Side note, I got my 7 & 8 year old nieces hooked this summer (legacy pauper of course XD) Its fun to be the cool uncle who brings them new cards.

I felt like I was just about done with Magic.......and then I started playing Vintage.

Not sure. I like it a lot. I suppose that if I end up having children at some point that would be the end of competitive Magic for me. I'll say 10 more years. I'll be 32 at that point.

I figure I'll be collecting or playing at least in some capacity until I finish all my schooling and start working, or when/if I get married.

I've been playing since 93, been married since 1998. Competitive play has slowed down now that I have three boys (ages 8,7,4). I still hit the SCG and GP events in Indianapolis and also Gencon. I spend more free time playing on MTGO due to wife and kids, but I still hit FNM's about twice a month and legacy events when I can find them local.

As you get old, married and have kids balance is the key and I'm not talking about the card.

I see myself playing in some aspect for a long time, my 8 year old is showing interest and I told him when he was 10 he could start playing on a bigger scale. If he continues to show interest then I def see myself playing for years to come.

I played in elementary school and middle school, took a break in high school and college, and now that I'm in grad school (abroad, btw) I'm going as strong as ever. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. It's fun, challenging, and I like the community.

I'll stop playing competitively if Magic dies. Even then, EDH deck will continue to function at various kitchen tables.

Till the day I die. The only time I would sell my Magic cards if I really needed the money for basic human needs.

Probably the midpoint of 2012. I mean, I'll still play on MWS, which I do right now. But I sold all my physical cards. There are some nearby GPs but outside of that, I won't go to events. And when I do, I'll borrow cards.

Spikey, how could you do this to me? The dream of the entire Rock thread busting up a GP Stateside has been ruined now that you've sold all your stuff.

I'm 29, been playing off and on since '95. I've gotten to really love the competitive aspect of the game, although this may change with the Jan. 1st rules BS.

I'll keep playing for as long as it is supported, and then just play kitchen table afterwords. The game is just too big a part of my psyche to just drop it.

At the rate that I currently am? It has already seen a decrease since the summer, but I imagine it has a shelf life of 1-2 years. Eventually having an engineering career severely limits the amount of time that one can invest in an MTG grinding lifestyle. I would like to have judging be the end game and give back to whatever community I find myself in.

Pffft. Impin, get the young ones started early! You'll have prodigies by the time they hit Junior High School.

I will probably play until wizards stops supporting it, and creates a new HUGE game, and in that game I will buy boxes of the new set so when cards hit 200$ 20 years later I'll have them all lol.

Casually, can't say. Non-limited competitive? Pretty much stopped. Sold all my good stuff recently, so, yeah.

I've already started with the 8 year old a little bit. He is very found of his Green/Red deck. Eventually I will help him realize the importance of splashing blue and like father like son he will play the best deck available RUG 4 LIFE!

He was playing a friend of mine the other day and actually beat him, I'm pretty sure my friend has been in exile since then. It was either the Sword to Plowshares that did him in, or the sheer embarassment of losing to an 8 year old. Either way, I now have one less friend begging to borrow cardz!

I'm all but done with my university studies, and depending on where I end up in my professional career I can't see any obstacles keeping me from playing till the day I die, basically. I've been playing since you could get Urza's in the store, call it about 12 years.

They say one doesn't ever quit Magic, you just have shorter or longer breaks in between playing and I honestly regard that as the truth. If I end up in a town or city with a good Legacy community, I'll keep playing, and I don't really ever see myself setting up an auction to unload my beloved staples that I have owned since forever.

Then again, stuff might happen, life may come in the way :)

I'm already 40 and about to retire so I doubt I have too much longer to go. Maybe about 5 more years and I'll call it good. My collection is worth too much to sit on forever. I have been playing since 94 and I never really sold any of my play sets.

I'm going to keep playing until I don't want to anymore. If I keep enjoying it then I don't see a problem with trying to fit it in around uni and stuff, and right now I'm definitely not bored or tired of playing.
But if one day I wake up and decide 'this is just not for me anymore' then that's it really.

TLDR - Not sure

I will most likely play for years and years to come. I really enjoy the game, but I only play vintage now, and I have started to pick up some Power 9 (only missing the Lotus, Sapphire, and Pearl). I have lost interest in Legacy lately, and keeping up with Standard is too much, and big reason why I jumped into Legacy. I am a student, and there are no close FNMs to me. I enjoy going to GP's and larger tournaments (definitely going to be going to GenCon every year) but I dont have any goals for making it big. I just like to play for fun, which is why I love Type 1 so much .
