Huh, reads like common sense mixed with anecdotes. I can appreciate the difficulty in trying to write about something as vast and difficult as improving your game, but I don't think you offered anything new or special in this piece. Not enough substance to really learn from beyond your suggestions of playing against better players and reading about magic, which is something that is already widely known.

Every columnist seems to take a stab at this in one way or another; no real new or fresh perspective here that I found though. I hope I don't come across as overly critical.

Glad you helped that kid at that event, though!

I liked it. Cute story, not too long, and it got the point across.

Something that I feel has improved my game tremendously is watching Top 8s of every Pro Tour. While I may not play the format, I always glean a lot of information from observing pro players. Watching Wafo Tapa play block constructed Teachings (and Pickles) opened my eyes to the game.

Good read, I like it.

I would have enjoyed to read about why you think said forum is not as good as it was, and what could be done to improve.
