Some moderate improvements; the "Magic Players Championship" is still effing stupid though. I don't know what they're trying to accomplish with giving $100K to 16 random people.

Hopefully they'll wise up and just roll that and the "World Magic Cup" back into Worlds like it should be in the first place.

What I did like was them giving PT invites to GP's again and now paying for the plane tickets for those who Q'd via GP/PT/etc.

Also it looks like appearance fees and benefits for the highest level pros are higher now?

PT invites for T4 at the GPs though? 4 out of 1000-2000 people? Not exactly a good way to Q. Ought to be T16, I think. Or T8 with invites falling for already Q'd people. Frankly, I think it's kind of insulting; they pissed on the community and when they got called on their shit, they throw us a small bone and expect us to be happy about it.

You can still qualify via PTQ. They expanded the GP season so it seems like they are just trying to avoid over inviting. The Pro Tour would be a lot different if the events were GP sized instead of 350-450 people.

Top eight qualifying makes the most intuitive sense— it used to be top sixteen, but since they're doubling the amount of annual GPs (one in Minneapolis this year!), it would make it roughly the same amount of people qualifying via GPs if it were eight. I'm fine with compromising at four (as opposed to the winner solely Qing as it was).

Lastly, thank fucking god for this news, especially for the reduced FNM multiplier. I was seriously about to quit playing this summer, but I don't think I will now.

You lose rating qualification though and that cuts down a lot of people right there. I dunno, I guess we'll see how it works out.

I'm pretty certain they'll still have a qualification based off of your competitive Planeswalker Points for the season, no?

Also remember they're paying for air fare now for pretty much everyone qualified as well now.
