Hello, i've been playing this list past week weeks. Its been doing well, first turn Delver is amazing.

I wanted to use the idea of RUG tempo but switch green for black. Tombstalkers have been great. Goyf just gets outclassed when I play him anymore, also kotr laughs off lightning bolt too much in my meta to reply on it for removal adding terminate has been MVP.

No sideboard yet.

I was running bitterblossom but it was meh alot.

Any suggestions are welcomed

Jitte isn't much of a tempo card.

Why would you run less than 4 Hymn?

I would cut the Jitte to add another Hymn and to fill out some of your other slots.

It may be a difference of meta, but at least locally I'm leaning more towards Spell Pierce over Spell Snare in the UBx tempo shell. Spell Pierce has a wider range of targets against control and combo, and Spell Snare doesn't have that great of application against Maverick or Bant.

I'd agree with boneclub24 that Jitte might not be the best choice in this style build w/o Bitterblossom.

If looking for a 2cc card to help sure up agro matches, I would consider Fire//Ice, it's no more dead than Terminate in the matches it's bad in, but can kill off all the various 1 toughness guys sometimes netting a 2 for 1 (Grim, Noble, Mom, Lackey, Bob, Snapcaster). Knight of the Reliquary is one of the few played targets where Bolt and Fire aren't sufficient removal.

Rough//Tumble might be worth consideration as well since it sweeps 1-2 toughness guys, but doesn't touch your fliers.

Make room for the 4th hymn, ya fook. I think you need more dudes too. Grim?

These threads are so dull. There are several tempo threads already. Read those and you'll know what to add.

Hey all, I wasn't sure if it was worse to necro, or to start a 4th UBr thread

The biggest differences from other Grixis tempo decks are that I chose not to play Stalker and I instead play Cliques and Jaces. One of my friends was telling me that I shouldn't Jace and Clique in a Stifle/Waste/Daze tempo deck. I'm not so sure, I've played UBr Tempo and Team America a ton, they're some of my favourite decks. I just feel like even though Jace/Clique are more controlling cards they still represent a clock and aren't just vanilla fatties like Goyf or Stalker.

I haven't been able to test yet but I'll post back after I get to play some legacy. I think people might be tempted to say its better just to play BUG control but I think the fact that you have access to Blasts in the side makes red appealing enough just for that. Plus I expect Fire // Ice to be really, really good against Delver and strong against Maverick.

anyway...

x3 Jace, the Mindsculptor

x3 Snapcaster Mage
x3 Dark Confidant
x4 Delver of Secrets

x4 Force of Will
x4 Lightning Bolt

x1 Riptide Laboratory
x4 Wasteland

Trying something new by slaughtering a sacred cow and trying x3 Bob. I don't want to blow myself up with Jaces and Forces... What do you guys all think of x3 Dark Confidant?

I'd play a 4th Confidant over a 2nd Clique any day. Also -2 Ponder +2 Terminate. Your list have no way of dealing with creatures with 4+ toughness other than Bolt+SCM+Bolt. I would suggest trying out Hymns in place to Forces/Snares. Ditch the basics for 1 more fetch and 1 Badlands.

Tried something similar to these decks with mixed results tonight. I beat Bant and lost to Blade Control with the following:

CREATURES 13
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Dark Confidant
3 Snapcaster Mage
2 Grim Lavamancer

INSTANTS 22
4 Brainstorm
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Stifle
3 Force of Will
2 Spell Snare
2 Counterspell
2 Go for the Throat
1 Repeal
1 Fire//Ice

SORCERIES 2
2 Preordain

PLANESWALKERS 2
2 Jace the Mind Sculptor

LAND 21
4 Wasteland
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Volcanic Island
3 Underground Sea
2 Island
1 Flooded Strand
1 Polluted Delta
1 Misty Rainforest
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Mountain

SIDEBOARD 15
3 Spell Pierce
2 Surgical Extraction
2 Pyroblast
2 Perish
1 Pithing Needle
1 Nihil Spellbomb
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Grim Lavamancer
1 Nature's Ruin
1 Force of Will

Sort of a NLU with Black subbed for Green because I wanted to have Perish against Bant/Maverick.

I didn't take notes, but flipping Delver was a pain in this list, seemed like I had enough instants/sorceries, but he was left unflipped for several turns on occasions. Umezawa's Jitte was a beating with all the X/1 guys 1 swing with Jitte = 1 sided Wrath of God. Spell Pierce sucked, I brought it in against Blade Control thinking it would keep them off Crucible/Jace/Elspeth, but they were mostly dead by the time anyone went for action.

If I was going to try to run this sort of achetype again I would:

-4 Delver of Secrets

+1 Force of Will
+1 Snapcaster Mage
+2 Vendilion Clique

I might drop the Repeal for another Preordain as well. Sideboard I'd probably try Duress over Spell Pierce - seems like a better way to fight control decks/Planeswalkers.
