Ever since I started playing MTG I have been fixated on creating a deck that was tide in to its lands (this is before I knew that there was a deck "Land"). I also loved the idea of using Treefolk in the deck.
This has taken a while to progress to where it is now. Living Terrain and Darksteel Citadel only gets you so far making a 5/6 indestructible Treefolk for 4 mana.
This deck is still a working progress, expecially now that Wizards has made some new Elite Treefolk cards.
The Grove (60 Cards)
Tribal Treefolk GBW
Creatures(21)
4 Treefolk Harbinger
3 Scavenging Ooze
4 Dungrove
1 Doran, The Siege Tower
3 Dauntless Dourbark
3 Leaf-Crowned Elder
3 Timber Protector
Artifacts(2)
2 Sensei's Divining Top
Enchantment(2)
1 Pernicious Deed
1 Sylvan Library
Sorcery/Instant (12)
4 Green Sun's Zenith
4 Swords to Plowshares
1 Evolution Charm
3 Maelstrom Pulse
Land (23)
4 Verdant Catacombs
2 Misty Rainforest
4 Bayou
2 Savannah
3 Murmuring Bosk
1 Yavimaya Hollow
7 Forest
Creatures
Treefolk Harbinger- A defender 0/3, An attacker 3/3(Doran), Land/Creature Tutor for G.
Scavenging Ooze- Although not a Treefolk, it plays in as tree sap. I have always had a problem between speed and life lose. SO makes up in this department by giving me a growing gravehater that gives me life.
Dungrove Elder- A key wincon that constantly grows. No evasion, however, Hexproof grants me an untouchable creature for the field.
Doran, the Seige Tower- Doran is an amazing 5/5 creature for 3 mana and this deck has no problem giving up the mana to caste him on turn 3. I do not play more than 1 copy due to majority of decks are running Wasteland, Karakas, Tarmogoyf, ect. This makes him less reliable in bulk for the deck.
Dauntless Dourbark- This guy comes out to the field as a 5/5 if you hard caste with nothing on bord but land. He grows and has the added benefit of trample if another treefolk is on my field. This is highly likely with Dungrove Elder.
Timber Protector- Indestructible creatures with beef effects and my nonbasic land are safe.
Removal Cards
Swords to plowshares
Maelstrom Pulse
Pernicious Deed
Deck Manipulation
Sensei's Divining Top- Perfect synergy with Leaf-Crowned Elder to cast more creatures for free.
Sylvan Library
Evolution Charm- Technically deck and board manipulation, but I like the options of choices given for a grave return, land pull, or an evasion.
Green Sun's Zenith- Nuf said.
Land- All my land with exception to the fetch land and Yavimaya Hollow are "Forest" to feed into both Dungrove, and Dauntless Dourbark while at the same time allow me to play 3 colors.
This deck has a slow start at the moment by not kicking off until turn 3, however, it has proven itself steady and consistently reliable. At the moment I take care of faster decks with my sideboard.
