Ok, so I really like Geralf's Messenger. I really wish it didn't come into play tapped, because that'd probably be just enough to really make it legit. Regardless, I've been messing with a framework to make something playable.

Here's the core of what I've found has decent synergy so far:

Creatures:

4x Geralf's Messenger
4x Gravecrawler
4x Carrion Feeder

Non-creature Spells:

4x Unearth
2-3x Tragic Slip

Lands:

2x Phyrexian Tower
2x Unholy Grotto
2x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

At present I've just got the rest of the deck filled out with some typical black goodstuff, ie Hymn, Thoughtseize, Liliana 2, other removal, etc.

Lord of the Undead has been in and out of the deck too. He's the most functional of the Zombie lords without just using him for the +1/+1 buff since sac/recur/replay Messenger can sometimes drain an opponent of 8-10 life in a turn if you "go off".

I'd really like to find another effect to take advantage of all the sacrifice effects going on in here. Something like Grave Pact or whatever, obviously Grave Pact itself being too expensive for serious legacy play.

It also feels like it's really missing some sort of draw engine. Maybe even just a couple Divining Tops.

Thoughts, suggestions?

For reference, there's a discussion of a Zombie Recursion variant here (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?23052-Br-Zombie-Aggro-Recursion). It's a decent core, but you can theoretically go infinite with Deathgreeter (for infinite life with Phyrexian Altar, Vengeful Dead and Diregraf Captain (for infinite damage with the aforementioned Altar.

A card that may or may not be useful is Cabal Coffers for the added mana generation for Gravecrawler.
