MAGIC THE GATHERING Pro Tour Qualifier (PTQ) - FEB. 25, 2012

Comic Asylum will be the tournament organizer for a Magic Pro Tour Qualifier on February 25th, 2012. This Pro Tour Qualifier will be for the 2nd Pro Tour of 2012 in Barcelona Spain and the format is Modern. We will be hosting this event at the Dallas Games Marathon Event Center (http://dallasgamesmarathon.com/location) in Plano, TX . It is at 930 W Parker Rd. Suite 530, Plano, TX 75075. This event is NOT being held at our retail store in Richardson.

Registration at 9AM Start Time at 10AM (Deck lists must be filled out prior to start time)

The format is Modern Constructed with swiss rounds based on attendance with a top 8 single elimination playoff. The Dark Ascension expansion WILL be legal for use in the Modern format by the date of the tournament.

Planeswalker Points multiplier 5x, REL: Competitive.
Deck lists are required.

Prize award for 1st place winner is airline travel to the Pro Tour in Barcelona Spain. The exact prize breakdown will be named later.

DARK ASCENSION GAME DAY SIDE EVENT Added to the PTQ

Format STANDARD

This will start at 1:30PM. This starting time should allow people with records of 1-2 & 0-3 to drop out of the main event & play in this.

Cost is $10

The first 30 participants receive a full art Strangleroot Geist promo card.

The top 8 receive a full art FOIL Zombie Apocalypse Promo card. 1st place also receives a Thraben Heretic art: Champion labeled Playmat.

2 packs person will be put into the prize pot divided among the top 8 in addition to the promo cards.

This should be 4-5 swiss rounds with a top 8 playoff cut depending upon attendance.

I forgot to mention a few things about the tournament:
The price we are charging for the PTQ is $25.

We are paying out 2.75 packs per person to the main PTQ event and paying out to the top 20%. ie 100 players meaning paying out to top 20 with the top 8 obviously getting the bulk of it.

In addition to the Game Day Standard side event, if there is space, time, and available judges we will also run DA/I/I booster drafts later in the afternoon.
