View Full Version : Best place to buy older Korean cards?

I've been trying to finish some playsets of FBB stuff, and I don't particularly want to buy from Singapore eBay stores due to authenticity concerns.

Does anyone know any reputable web stores that may have good selections of foreign (esp Korean) cards?

SCG has a couple and there was a period of time where they kinda sold some of the cards on the lower-end, and I snagged a bunch. If you are looking for the staple cards, then they are probably overpriced.

I've never heard about fake Korean cards from Singapore eBay stores. Where did these stories come from? Just curious. I just know that they are way overpriced and I seldom shop at them unless I'm desperate to finish a playset or looking for a HTF NM card.

It's not the authenticity of Korean cards specifically that I'm worried about. It's the authenticity of any cards, period.

I've ordered quite a lot from Singapore (no specific stores) and a good 30% of the stuff that I've received has been fake, and that includes recently printed sets.

Local stores; eBay auctions (prices vary wildly); cardshark.com; MOTL

Those have been my best resources. The process is slow (... as in molasses on a glacier slow).

+1

I'd like to harp on the eBay auctions and wildly varying prices. For the life of me I couldn't find a Worn Powerstone for under 30.00 and in better than EX condition. After a year I picked up two for a BIN of 8.99 on the bay and they were in very nice condition, like everything else in life it takes time. Also I'm still loling at the 450.00 Foil Snapcaster Mage(s) and 650.00/950.00 Foil Liliana(s) that I'm pretty sure were shilled to shit (Russian Dark Confidants anyone?).

I have enjoyed ordering from phyrexian games on ebay. They usually just have foreign cards for sale. I picked up my korean reanimates and ponders from them. As well as a few german staples too.

Some of his prices are unreasonable but he is open to negotiation so I cannot really complain.

I was under the impression that MagicKardMarket only sold to Europeans?

This is true, but the trick is to make friends with a European or three, have MKM seller ship to that friend, and then when you're ready have your contact ship goods to you. Also, many of the MKM sellers will sell to the USA if you just contact them directly.

interesting I had no problem with Singapore e-bay yet, but good to know...

My impression on MKM as a European is it's rather expensive than e-bay, same numbers - different currencies... which does not matter when it comes to vhtf i guess

Do you have examples of fake cards? I have a ton of stuff I've picked up from Singapore. Are they that different from regular cards?

They're generally not that different at a glance, but upon close inspection they're pretty obvious. The last ones I got were some Vengevines that I thought looked a little weird, like the text was too thick, and the colors were a little dark. I didn't even need a jeweler's loupe to notice that the ink pattern was off, so we're not talking high grade forgeries here.

I don't think any of the sellers are responsible, but I do think someone over there is printing fakes of popular, semi-expensive cards and that they are slipping under the radar as most sets other than ABU and the pre-Ice Age expansions aren't scrutinized quite as closely.
