Parallax Tide and Arenson's Aura

Hello Rulings Gurus,

Can I use Arenson's Aura first abililty to target the same enchantment used to pay its cost? I want to use it as a sacrifice outlet to Parallax Tide to do the ol' Faceless Butcher trick.

Yes you can. You choose targets, then pay costs.
But when the ability will try to resolve it will be countered because it has no legal target.
