I have a putrid imp in play. I have a cabal therapy in the grave yard

After my upkeep and into my main phase, the opponent says i want to swords to plowshare my putrid imp.

In response, since I have priority, can i use cabal therapy before he plows to name a card, other than plow, and get some zombies in play from bridge?

Your opponent can also plays spells and abilities during the Draw step. Once you enter the Main phase however, you will have priority to cast Cabal Therapy unhindered. You can't respond with Sorcery speed effects however, since only Instants can be cast in response to other effects.

Thanks as usual.

I understand the draw phase step, but lets say it did enter the main phase, he says swords to plowshares right away, before I want to play my therapy. would i still get to therapy since it is actually "in response to his sword effect"

If you do get to the main phase, then your opponent doesn't get to do anything until you do something or pass. It's not really "in response" to the swords. If that happened, you would simply undo anything that your opponent did since they weren't supposed to be able to do it.

The bottom line is that if your opponent knows the rules, then there's no way to cast the therapy because the opponent should be using swords during the upkeep or draw step.
