Chrome Mox and Misthollow Griffin

Anyone know if you imprint Misthollow Griffin on Chrome Mox and then cast Misthollow Griffin, does Chrome Mox still tap for mana?

Gatherer says:
Imprint — When Chrome Mox enters the battlefield, you may exile a nonartifact, nonland card from your hand.

: Add one mana of any of the exiled card's colors to your mana pool.

Misthollow Griffin was exiled, so shouldn't Chrome Mox still tap for mana? I am curious about this because the casting from exile is such a groundbreaking ability.

From the same Gatherer page:

12/1/2004 If no card is imprinted on Chrome Mox, the Mox can't add mana to your mana pool. It can't add colorless mana to your mana pool.

So, no.

If a card imprinted on a second card leaves exile, the second card can no longer retrieve any information about the formerly imprinted card. No information, no mana.
