View Full Version : [DECK] Faerie Angel Insanity

Okay everybody I dont really ever post to any forum i belong to unless I have something worth while to add to the discussion or that may help somebody understand things better. So as my first post I am posting a deck.

Now Ket me get this completely out of the way. I for one do not repeat do not care about being COMPETIVE IN ANYTHING BUT LEGACY!!!! I will play any format of Magic just for fun (and to make my opponent grit their teeth in wondering is this match going to make me miss the top 8). With that out of the way and done with I personally no matter the format like to play decks that cause the higher functions of the game to go insane. These decks also cause many a rule question to be asked as well. So in general i like to play fringe or rogue deck builds that you would rarely if ever see. This is what this deck list is, and is exactly why I am posting it.

You see I have problems getting past the last hurdle of deck building. That is to actually make it come all together and win games. I do not mean it has to be consitant but at least have a 60/40 chance at winning. This deck list has not been sleeve or played i rather hammer out most of the kinks before going full throttle on this deck. So with out further adeu here is the deck list of what i wish to build and please help me make it a little more competive then it probably is

4X Gemstone Mine
4x Leechridden Swamp
4x Halimar Depths
2x Terramorphic Expanse
1x Island
1x Swamp

SPELLS
4x Dark Ritual
4x Brainstorm
4x Counterspell
2x Countersquall
2x Force of Will

ENCHANTMENTS
4x Bitterblossom
2x Dire Undercurrents

CREATURES
2x Glen Elendra Liege
4x Oona's Blackgaurd
4x Oona, Queen of the Fae

ARTIFACTS
4x Lotus Petal
4x Angel's Tomb


Now the hole interraction of this deck is between Angel's Tomb and Bitterblossom to warm your opponent with flyers early on in the game and denie them mid game if they have answers. I am not opposed changing colors of the deck or splashing or adding more so long as Bitterblossom and Angel's Tomb are the win condition.

P.S. I unfortuneatly suck at getting this to link and have ramballed on to long as is about this so please forgive me for making you look up what these cards are and what they do. I apologize ahead of time. Thank you

Just a few things i thought of right away, you dont need rainbow lands in a 2 color deck.

A 4-of Legendary 5 mana creature probably isn't the best, considering you usually want your 4 drops to be gamechanging/winning.

Leechridden swamps and Halimar depths just are really, really slow, aswell as Terramorphic Expanse, you probably just want 6-7 Fetchlands and some more basics.

I'd play 2-3 Spell Pierces over the 4th Counterspell and Countersqualls aswell probably, due to being able to T3 cast Bitterblossom with extra protection.

Also instead of the mana accel (dark rituals/lotus petals) you might want to look into some discard (thoughtseizes, inquisition of kozilek, duress, maybe even Hymn to Tourach)
Aswell as a 4 mana creature giving your creatures +1/+1 isn't that devastating.

I'd try running 3 Vendilion Cliques and maybe 3-4 Spellstutter Sprites, considering the amount of Faeries you will be playing (4 Bitterblossom, 3 Clique, 4 Blackguards).

I don't really want to sound too degenerating, i really like the idea, just want to make sure the deck is able to compete ;)

Viridia I dont take it at all as degenerating. I posted it to help me build a better deck as well as give others ideas or help them build their own fringe rogue deck archetype. And also your ideas for the deck are quite good such as the discard. Dropping the lotus petals to add some form of forced discard for my opponent is something that this deck probably does need if it does not draw a good opening hand and is not seeing anything good on draw T2.

interesting (but clearly casual) deck idea. I like it. But I feel the deck needs more Wasp Lancer Cliques and Sprites. I think the counter suit way too slow. As mentioned before i think Spell Pierce would be good in this deck, as would be more Force of Will.
