Grand Prix Trial for Atlanta

-Saturday, May 19, 2012
-$15 Registration at noon, Rd. 1 starts at 1:00pm
-Sanctioned Legacy -- deck lists required
-Appropriate rounds of Swiss, then cut to single-elim top 8 (or top 4 in event of lower turnout)
-Great prizes -- sealed boxes, Moat, Dual Lands, etc. and usually they have extra some door prizes even if you don't make it to the elimination rounds
-They usually start a draft for those who don't make the cut

I will update as further details become known. I don't work for the store, but wanted to get the word out there for those in the area.

Ron stocks TONS of singles and has fair prices.

Last month's winner was Mono Red Goblins. There is a fair amount of High Tide, Reanimator, Dredge, and Storm in the meta so bring your hate. But don't be surprised to run into a handful of Maverick, MUD and UWx Blade opponents!

What kind of attendance can we expect?

I'm looking into some Akron area people possibly coming out.

It's hard to give an accurate estimate. At the previous event in April, there were only 12~ players. However, that event was not really advertised much (I personally only heard about it the day prior). Despite the low turnout, first place still got a Moat -- Ron stays good on the prizes he puts up. The event in March was bigger, with about 20+~ players.

However, this is the first time that it's being advertised on the Source in advance, so hopefully this event can draw in some additional players outside of the main Pittsburgh Legacy scene. I would predict that it'd be somewhere around 20-30 players, but if it catches on perhaps the Ohio crew that goes to Carl's store might make it out and it'd be even bigger.

I can't speak for Ron personally, but in past events he has increased the prize support if the turnout exceeded expectations.

I see, thanks Will.

Relayed word to the local crew, trying to get interest in the event as we speak.
