Hello all!

I have a new deck I've been playing that is a hybridization of Canadian and U/R Burn. I'll show you the list now and then touch on some of the reasons why I like it more than the decks that inspired it and talk about some of the weaknesses this deck has that the others don't.

x4 Stifle
x4 Daze
x4 Force of Will
x3 Spell Snare
x4 Lightning Bolt
x2 Chain Lightning
x3 Thunderous Wrath
x2 Ponder
x4 Brainstorm

x3 Spellstutter Sprite
x4 Delver of Secrets
x2 Snapcaster Mage
x1 Vendilion Clique

x3 Volcanic Island
x4 Scalding Tarn
x4 Misty Rainforest
x1 Flooded Strand
x1 Bloodstained Mire
x4 Wasteland
x2 Island
x1 Mountain

sb

x4 Smash to Smithereens
x4 Submerge
x3 Surgical Extraction
x2 Relic of Progenitus
x2 Sulfuric Vortex

The biggest downside to this is that I'm not playing Tarmogoyf or Nimble Mongoose. The deck has more fliers though, and I'm thinking of trying to squeeze in 1-2 Jittes to really take advantage of my Faeries and mutant bugs. The manabase I feel is too tight to include Mutavaults, especially since I'm already playing x4 colorless lands. I've also been toying with the thought of going up to 21 lands since I play SCM and a Clique.

I feel like the SSS really redeem themselves in being able to nix bolts, StPs and critical Brainstorms. Not sure yet if this is just worst than Canadian or U/R, which is my fear, but I brewed this up and plan to play it in a tournament. Any advice on this build guys?

I don't have a playgroup to test with so I'm sad to say I have no testing under my belt with this besides goldfishing which doesn't reveal much.

I'd cut some number of Thunderous Wrath and increase the number of Ponder for starters. Also, I've been testing out a grixis tempo list and I've found vexing devil to be a beast, allowing me to freely use my bolts/chains for whatever I please. Vexdevil is actually pretty decent despite opponents taking the 4 and aren't willing to waste counters or removal on it. He also helps speed up the clock of delver quite a bit.

Pray you never play against Engineered Plague or Night of Souls Betrayal with this deck.
The only upside I can generally see compared to Canadian is that you play 3 Basics with everything else being worse. I think that UR Burn is better choice in this colors.

Spellstutter Sprite is not aggressive enough for a deck like this, I think.

Where's one of the best reasons to play UR tempo, Fire/Ice? And I don't like Ponder in a tempodeck. You don't get much out of it tempo-wise unlike threshold with mongeese to pump. I wouldn't play snapcaster either as I think it' s important to have all your best tricks available with two lands only.
