So I was playing on MWS and ran across someone playing something similar to this list. It kept romping me many times, and seems to be a very well put together build. From memory I put together as many of the cards as I could, and filled out the rest with cards that seemed good.
The deck is blisteringly fast, and plays out very strong. Welder and friends seem to be subpar on paper, but in practice add a nice plan B to the deck. Would love to get some help developing this idea of Welder + Bargain + Unburied Rites. I figure thats the core of the deck I want to make, and to help build it from there.
Here is where I'm at so far... Here is the original list from Hollywood.

Not sure if it was me you were playing against, but I have been running this list primarily on MWS for quite some time, with recent adjustments once Griselbrand became legal:

Hollywood, 4 Darksteel Citadel when Exhume Faithless Looting and Unburial Rites are the only cards you can cast off a Citadel? Obviously it goes well with Opal and Welder, but why not try other artifact mana (Chrome Mox) or increasing your LED/Lotus Petal count instead of using Opal?
Have you guys considered Burning Wish? B-wish goes great with LED, opens up options for a wishboard or Burning Wish to grab Gamble, Reanimate, etc.

The mana base is a bit shaky, but when you're operating on one mana spells to begin with it really isn't that big of a deal to reconfigure. Chrome Mox would work fine, too. Citadel is there to help Metalcraft, which in theory can probably work just as well - if not better - with Chrome Mox instead.
Some other considerations are more Lotus Petals or fetches with Top.
@Bob: You can get a turn one Griselbrand into play off LED and Unburial Rites. It's actually pretty disgusting. It's also highly susceptible to hate post-board, so consider adding more protection.

I've been testing Hollywood's list since this morning. Do you feel that the LED are not necessary? I also feel that we aren't exploiting the full potential of the welders. What are your thoughts on this?

I think that LED is just nuts. Great with welder, great for rites. I do feel welder is not exploited enough though.

LED is nuts. It helps facilitate Unburial Rites. If you have a fatty in your hand and an LED in play, you can Entomb for Rites. Really cool.
Also, I think the deck should exploit Welder more, and possibly LED.

wow this deck looks awesome. How do you deal with the current meta like RUG tempo or Ad naseum.
RUG can be beat with just creature power, but how do you stop storm? And should Elesh Norn be included just for tribal?

Sphinx just eats RUG alive if it hits play (Jace can be worrisome, but this is more situational). Storm can be a little hard but we can slow them with Entomb-into-whatever (Iona) or any other dedicated target from the sideboard. Ethersworn Canonist would be cute, too.
Additionally, Elesh Norn is a fine choice against Tribal variants.

Very cool deck:laugh: However, someone has to ask this, is there a reason to play this over UB Reanimator?
KobeBryan

Question.
How come you are not using thoughtseize? You can use it as a discard outlet as well. I know it takes 2 life, but when you need a discard, you get to discard.
How do you beat UW stoneblade. Control seems to be this deck's biggest problem.
Firestorm in the Sideboard is a must against creatures. Enabler + dmg = profit!

Very cool deck:laugh: However, someone has to ask this, is there a reason to play this over UB Reanimator?
Badlands are cheaper than Underground Seas:wink:
In all seriousness, there's definitely good potential here. After a bunch of goldfishes and some games against Burn and RUG, I made the following changes:
-2 Griselbrand, +1 Inkwell Leviathan, +1 Elesh Norn
-2 Mox Opal, +1 Lotus Petal, +1 Mox Diamond
Inkwell Leviathan has Shroud, isn't Legendary, has evasion, and can be Welder'ed in. I tried Wurmcoil Engine (great Welder bait, helps race) but I found Elesh Norn to be better and simply win games. Griselbrand wasn't as amazing as he could be - a full grip doesn't protect him (like UB) or find the "win now" (Sneak). Maybe Jin is worth testing here too?
The Mox Diamond wasn't horrible and I'm personally a big fan of running a singleton in place of a Petal when utilizing big drawing engines (Griselbrand, Ad Naseum), though unlike the other mana artifactsts not good for Welding.

Certainly. This deck offers a tremendous amount of consistency that UB sorely lacks without Entomb. Gamble and Welder adds another dynamic of recursion, with Gamble able to act as an Entomb or nabbing an Unburial Rites from your library. It basically runs the same reanimation package but has some flexibility post-board with Entomb/Gamble. Entombing for Grudge is nifty against artifacts like Crypt, which Gamble can do too.
While that's not necessarily the optimal line of play, it can be effective.

I haven't really liked gamble so much yet. Whats the biggest reason to run this as a 3 of?
Also, I know you have 4 duresses and 3 REBs (pyro), is that enough to stop a control deck?

Here's a pile I threw together just for funsies...
B/r Welder Combo
// Lands
4 [MR] Vault of Whispers
4 [MR] Great Furnace
4 [R] Badlands
// Creatures
4 [UL] Goblin Welder
4 [SHM] Painter's Servant
3 [CFX] Inkwell Leviathan
1 [ARB] Sphinx of the Steel Wind
1 [AVR] Griselbrand
// Spells
4 [DKA] Faithless Looting
4 [OD] Entomb
4 [TE] Reanimate
4 [US] Exhume
4 [LRW] Thoughtseize
3 [US] Duress
4 [TE] Grindstone
4 [SOM] Mox Opal
4 [MR] Chrome Mox
I'm actually 3-0 with it now on MWS, for whatever that's worth.
I actually like the Painter/Stone alternate combo. It's won me a few games now. Sometimes I'll accel out an Entomb into Grisel into Exhume, but sometimes I'll hit the opponent with a few discard spells, drop a Grindstone and a Painter, and win that way. I like that it takes the deck away from graveyard dependance a little bit, and that it adds another angle of attack, making it slightly harder to hate-out postboard.
EDIT: Gonna try -1 Opal for +1 Iona and see how that goes.

I took one dark citadel out for 1 dark moor salvage just to smooth the land count a bit. I found out I really need black lands and having 4 great furnace and 4 dark citadel was kind of annoying at times.
Also, what do you think about using thoughtseize instead of gamble? It helps fight the control decks a bit more as well and you can use it as a discard outlet..

You really should try the wurm coil with welder. That is an engine in and of itself.
I completely overhauled my sideboard for fun. grindstone and painters with 7 REB effects, which makes out to be 15 cards.
Throws the opponent's strategy against u out the door completely.

What is your sideboard plan to transform?
Thanks!

I played a bunch of games against various Show and Tell decks (Reanimate and Show, Sneak and Show, Hive Mind, Dream Halls and Hypergenesis) and with the amount of play those decks are getting, Edict effects might be necessary. Other than Hypergenesis, they rarely have more than 1 creature in play, and Edict is the only thing saving us from Annihilator ruining our board

This deck is actually still very fun to play. I added blue for show and tell and more careful study effects.
lands (16)
4 seat of the synod
4 badlands
4 vault of whisper
4 great furnace
spells (24)
4 faithless looting
2 careful study
3 exhume
4 reanimate
4 entomb
3 unburial rites
4 duress
creatures (11)
4 goblin welders
1 iona
1 inkwell leviathan
1 wurmcoil engine
1 sphinx of the steelwind
1 elesh norn
2 griselbrand
mana (9)
3 lotus petal
3 mox opal
3 LED
sideboard
3 thoughtseize
2 REB
3 pithing needle
2 tormod's crypt
1 phrexian metamorph
1 blazing archon
2 echoing truth
1 angel of despair
The added careful study helps so much more to dig deeper into the deck. Then the show and tell sideboard plan helps eliminate the graveyard hate. I do hate having only 2 artifact creatures to play with welder though...but sundering titan is something i usually don't use with entomb anyways.

The plan B. Do you want to play a controlling aspect and have counters as back up or do I want to increase consistency and redundancy with a welder. Unfortunatly the welder plan B is still weak to grave hate.
I haven't tested the list but conceptually it seems promising. Very explosive but unprotected. Seems better than belcher cause you have a much better recovery plan / plan B

Gamble is amazing when you can utilize the discard, in decks like loam and reanimator.

I don't think you should expose the grindstones yet game 1. try to bring that in game 2 when people least expect it. People will think you are a reanimator game 1
The grindstones can replace the unburial rites and other gy cards.
Painters game 1 with iona on whatever color they have will be game. And thats what you want people to think

you could do that or you could end up winning with grind stone game 1 and then game 2 they won't be expecting the reanimator anyways.
Sideboarding could just increase the redundancy of whatever combo they didn't see. Against many decks you'll be able to guess what they are putting in and play around it with the other combo.

Against control decks with counters, i just take out my reanimator package for the grindstone REB package.
If its a deck without stack intervention, I go both reanimator and the grindstone package by taking out some needless creatures and unburial rites.
If a full grip isn't helping protect Griselbees, have you thought of Not of this World in the SB? I've always wanted to find a deck that could use that card and some kind of explosive fatty deck with all gas and little protection seems perfect for it. Protects a lot of your fatties and counters stuff REB just cannot handle.
The Grindstone back-up plan looks pretty sweet too though,.

I used to love the "teen titans" deck in the past so I'm really excited about this deck. So far testings on cockatrice has been very promising (4-0 so far).
Will post the decklist once it's proparly optimized since I still have a lot of uncertain slots.

The maximum number of cards that can be boarded in game 2 and game 3 would be 4 cards max, otherwise your engine just won't flow.

Why do you have 4 Abrupt Decay in your board if you never side in more than 3 cards?
