Hey guys, Ill present to you my newest creation. It's a mixture from BUG Control and UW Terminator. Therefore it plays the colors BUWG. Ill just start with the decklist:

//Lands
4 Tundra
3 Underground Sea
2 Tropical Island
2 Island
4 Flooded Strand
4 Polluted Delta
1 Scalding Tarn
2 Wasteland
1 Academy Ruins

//Counter
4 Counterbalance
3 Counterspell
4 Force of Will

//Utility
4 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Life from the Loam
4 Brainstorm
2 Snapcaster Mage

//Removal
4 Swords to Plowshares
2 Terminus
1 Oblivion Ring
1 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Liliana of the Veil
2 Engineered Explosives

//Win-conditions
3 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
2 Entreat the Angles

//Sideboard
X Life from the Loam
X Krosan Grip
X Disenchant
X Nihil Spellbomb
X Extirpate
X Perish
X Virtue's Ruin
X Vendilion Clique
.
.
.

So that's the basic core. Now some explanations:

1) Why 4-color?
Because I like a deck, that can turn on different engines of different colors. Life from the Loam, is a game-plan by itself, simply by being 1-2 times in your deck. With 4 colors you can use EE to blow up everything but Batterskull. It offers more diversity in removal and sideboard spaces aswell.

2) Isn't the 4-color-mana-base too weak to Mana-Denial-Strategies?
*Tempo Strategies are no problem, as we overwhelm them with enough removal, a decent amount of lands and Life from the Loam.
*Choke is beatable by our amount of counters and solutions postboard
*The only problematic card is BloodMoon, whereI am still pondering for a solution.

3) What is making this deck better than straight UW Terminator?
Well, first of all the direct opposition. This deck is superior in the mirror due to more diversity, secondly we are not restricted to certain colors and have an enlarged sideboard-space where we can find an answer for everything in any meta given

4) How does this deck stand in the current metagame?
UW and RUG are fairly fair MUs. Id say it's more like 52,50%, so slightly positive. Maverick ismore like 55%. RUG gets harder postboard, if they play the sideboard I play for my Canadian Threshold-deck.
Due to Counterbalance this deck has a very good stand against certain budget strategies, which pop up in the early rounds of a tournament. In addition to this, Counterbalance is a fairly good card against any Stormcombo.
Last but not least, the Dredge MU is good. If they do not go ALLFUCKIN in the first turn youre likely to grind them out and win. Even postboard. Terminus, Swords, EE, Angels, Jace and so on are giving you plenty of answers to this deck.

5) Why this strange mana-base
This manabase, while weaking us to Choke enables us to drop a Counterbalance on T2 like 99/100 times, same counts for Counterspell. Due to this reasons I decided against playing cards like Scrubland or Bayou.

6) Why should I play this deck?
Well, if you dont like playing what the mass plays and enjoy playing with all your Duals and cool cards this is a deck for you. It is not bad, as other "cool" decks but has a fairly good stand among the field. In addition to this it would be good, if youre a control-fan as games tend to turn a little longer, but can be ended fast via Angels aswell.

Tell me what you think.
Greetings

EDIT1: Forgot to mention my EEs in the list

Why is this called Austrian control, when there is no red-white-red? :wink:

Because it was MY idea. Why is Team America called Team America, as there is no white and red in it? Same for Canadian with white...

What first comes to my mind is that a stable manabase is more important than the green or black splash. Splashing black for Liliana with BB does also not seem too attractive to me. Feels like the current UW Terminus decks are stronger.

I stumbled into this thread thinking it was about an oppressive government of a country I know nothing about......this appears to be a deck with an incorrect amount of colors instead. It is tough for a control deck to control stuff like thresh and maverick when it is overly prone to a wasteland blowing it out.

I agree with Catmint. I think U/W Terminus is probably a safer and stronger choice. I also think splashing black for Lili might be a little greedy, since she's 1BB. I get that the Loams are meant to help defend against Wasteland, but if you don't draw into them and play against Canadian, it seems like you'd have a rough time.
