Mono Black Disruption... Input Welcome

Been slowly evolving the deck I have been playing towards this. Finally tracked down some sinkholes that I think will fit in perfectly
Currently:

Creatures (11):

4 Hypnotic Specter
2 Gatekeeper of Malakir
1 Nyxathid
4 Phyrexian Obliterator


Discard (14):

4 Hymn to Tourach
2 Inquisition of Kozliek
2 Duress
2 Coercion
4 Funeral Charm


Non-Discard Spells(14):

4 Dark Ritual
2 Unearth
3 Sinkhole
2 Diabolic Tutor
2 Surgical Extraction
1 Night's Whisper


Artifacts(10):

4 The Rack
4 Lotus Petal
2 Cursed Scroll


Land:
18 Swamps

49 Spells and 18 land is a total of 67 Cards, which is too many. Looking for places to cut some cards. I really don't want to cut out the Lotus Petals, because they have been a great help to the speed of the deck if you get one early with a dark ritual. The deck can do joyous things with 4 mana on turn 1 or 5 on turn two.

I'm thinking of scrapping the coercions? it's a bit too expensive even though it can take out anything, and maybe scrapping either an Obliterator or the last Nyxathid.

Interested to hear any thoughts you guys have on it.

If you're looking to play in tournaments, then Coercion and Lotus Petal need to be cut and you need to run Dark Confidant or Phyrexian Arena for card advantage. Diabolic Tutor is too slow.

I like Bob, but he scares the hell out of me. Taking the life and revealing the card, I actually prefer phyrexian arena even though its infinitely more difficult (impossible) to get rid of.

No, not in the suicide black thread. What we have here is very similar to Reid style pox decks. Look in the pox thread for inspiration.

You have too few swamps. You must Replace the Lotus petals for swamps.



Coercion is not needed because you allready run much discard (yes, it is possible to have too much of it!).

Thoughtsize is a better replacement for Duress.

Surgical extraction and nights whisper are not that good.

You can always check the other mono-black threads of the forum(the gate,mono-black:the discarder,mono black discard control,suicide black)You have mixed many things there that don't fit well together...:frown:If you want to play disruption that doesn't mean you play full discard...Drop the racks and keep a more concentrated approach on your discard: 4xThoughtseize or Duress perhaps.Also,wastelands and 4xsinkholes are a must in my opinion.Also,diabolic tutor is too slow and unearth is not needed that much.Hit more creaturekill spells.About the lotus petal,i had been playing it in my deck for many years and most of the time is a useless draw.Sure,turn 1 obliterator and turn 2 discards is awesome but most of the time it doesn't go like this...
