Hi everyone. in the last few months i've been playing EsperTeachings really enjoying the draw-go mechanic and playing a very adaptive deck.

I was wondering if is possibile to build such type of deck also in legacy.
The actual metagame asks for counterbalance/top and miralces, but i want a old school instant based deck. I want to say "draw, land, go" 3/4 of the turns. I want to ANSWER everything.

So i started to build an istant-only deck relaying on the best tutor we can use Cunning Wish and Mystical Teachings, and multiple flashback by snapcasters for advantage.

Check this out.

Manabase
1 Scrubland
1 Tundra
1 Underground Sea
3 Flooded Strand
3 Marsh Flats
2 Polluted Delta
1 Karakas
3 Plains
4 Island
3 Swamp

I think it's the standard UWb manabase for control + Karakas for nice tricks with Clique

Creatures
4 Snapcaster Mage
2 Vendilion Clique

Snapcaster is over optimized in a deck full of Istants, Vendillion sets the race and is another control element.

Tutors
3 Cunning Wish
3 Mystical Teachings

Mysical Teaching enables nice x1 in deck and provides card quality and advantage, Cunning wish, with a complete wishable sideboard closes the square of possible answers.

Removals&Bounce
4 Swords to Plowshares
1 Diabolic Edict
2 Echoing Truth
1 Consume the Meek
1 Extirpate

Sword is simply the best removal in format. Consume the meek is the only istant mass removal aviable ( Hideous Laughter is unlikely) and tutorable. Echoing enables nice tricks with Snappy.

Counters
4 Force of Will
3 Counterspell
2 Spell Pierce

Defoult counter configuration, but i'm unsure right now if Spell Snare is better or i need to split/add some.

Cantrip&Draw
4 Brainstorm
4 Esper Charm

Esper is the icon of the Modern deck, very adjutable spell 2card for 3 mana is good. Brainstorm over optimized with that much suffle effects.

Wishboard
SB: 1 Pulse of the Fields
SB: 1 Ravenous Trap
SB: 1 Path to Exile
SB: 1 Ensnare
SB: 1 Surgical Extraction
SB: 1 Flusterstorm
SB: 1 Mindbreak Trap
SB: 1 Diabolic Edict
SB: 1 Daze
SB: 1 Tempest of Light
SB: 1 Evacuation
SB: 1 Tsabo's Decree
SB: 1 Echoing Truth
SB: 1 Slaughter Pact
SB: 1 Hurkyl's Recall
SB: 1 Trickbind

Ther's the answers for all. mix of other counters, multiple gy hate, artifact hate, enchantment hate, and mass bounce. on demand.

I'm working also on a Ub version with think twice, cryptic command, creeping tar pit, and a stronger manabase; but it losses a lot of the variety of answers that we have playing white.

I hope that i intrigued someone of you and i really appreciate your help to develop this deck or destroy my dreams .D

Cunning Wish is often considered too slow for Legacy. Teachings, while pretty excellent in Modern, just doesn't do enough fast enough for Legacy, being even slower than Wish.

You would be better off looking at Intuition or Gifts Ungiven if you want to be able to tutor lots of singleton's. These are also much more flexible then Teachings, which can only be a good thing.

I'm not sure if Teachings can be competative, but I would really like it to be as I like the Modern version of the deck.

My biggest concern is that it will be to slow. Here are some cards to consider:
Repeal
Ghastly Demise
Dismember
Zealus Persecution
Spell Snare
More Spell Pierces
Spellstutter Sprite!?

You don't have many ways gaining cardadvantage, and trading 1 for 1 won't get you anywhere. The most common ways in UWx controll the gain advantage is mass removal and PW. I would consider Jace, even though his not instant.

You don't need that many basics. A hand without a Island (like only Plains and Swamp) as only land is a mulligan, so keep those to a minimum. Karakas is good with Clique.

EDIT: Maybe Spellstutter + Clique + Snap Cast Rip Lab is good? With Spellstutter Z Persecution seems apeeling - a small wrath against Mawerick that boost your own flyers as well.

I know that playing Mystical Teachings and Wishes and charms is awesome because it makes you feel so smart and clever and prepared, but this isn't 2007 and you don't need to be prepared for Stax and Survival and Solidarity and Dragon Stompy and Goblins and Threshold and Landstill. The vast majority of the format can be handled quite efficiently via straightforward countermagic and removal, and the main exception is Dredge which you're not gonna beat in G1 anyway (especially when your totally gamewinning Extirpate requires a 4cc tutor to be grabbed).

So if you really want to tap 3-4 mana to gain CA at EOT (assuming for the sake of argument that it's not a worse plan than setting up a Jace) don't try to be cute. Go with blunt card draw like Fact or Fiction and just grab a bunch of land drops and spells that will serve you far better than that single elegant Consume the Meek ever will.

You can try Thirst For Knowledge, but the deck would need a lot of artifacts. Chrome Mox, EE, Tops, Artifact land or 2,Thopter Foundry Combo, Random Needle,Cage,Crucible,Chalice, Wurmcoil. Also works well with Academy Ruins too.
