View Full Version : My compendium of Casual Decks
Figured I wouldn't start a new thread every time, so I'm just going to post them all here.
Also, how do I autocard?
Deck no. 1: Squandered Sunrise
//Lands:
4 City of Brass
3 Island
3 Plains
3 Forest
3 Swamp
2 Mountain
//Instants:
4 Brainstorm
4 Second Sunrise
//Sorceries:
4 Natural Balance
4 Ponder
//Enchantments:
2 Words of War
2 Excavation
3 Squandered Resources
//Artifacts:
4 Chromatic Sphere
4 Chromatic Star
4 Skycloud Egg
4 Sungrass Egg
3 Darkwater Egg
Basic idea is make a ton of mana with Squandered Resources and Natural Balance while also drawing a ton of cards with Second Sunrise and your various eggs. Words of War is a wincon because it seemed like more fun than some big x-damage spell.
My record in casual games is 22 wins, 5 losses, zero fizzles.

Quote me to see how cards are tagged. Keep in mind that whether you tag an entire list, or just a single card, you still use the same tag (<card> for instance doesn't work anymore).
If you want to leave a line, perhaps like the "Lands:" line unlinked since Lands: is obviously not a card, you can either break it up into sections of proper cards tags or, alternatively, begin any line that you wish to leave untagged with "//", so in this case, you would write "//Lands:" which will ensure that Lands stays untagged. The double slashes still show up which sounds like a programming error but, it still looks really good.
Thank you good sir!
Deck No. 2: Domain-Thresh-Combo-Control
//Land:
13 Forest
2 Island
1 Plains
1 Swamp
1 Mountain
//Creatures:
4 Wall of Roots
//Enchantments:
4 Utopia Sprawl
//Artifacts:
3 Chromatic Sphere
3 Chromatic Star
//Instants:
3 Early Harvest
4 Fact or Fiction
//Sorceries:
4 Earthquake
3 Brainstorm
2 Preordain
4 rampant Growth
4 Far Wanderings
1 Death Grasp
1 Comet Storm
1 Restock
1 Time Stretch
This deck is still in progress. I need to add two more Time Stretch and one more Restock. The basic idea is to ramp quickly as possible, defend yourself early with Wall of Roots and Earthquake, and then use Early Harvest to kill with the X spells.
Deck No. 3: Lullaby
//Lands:
23 Island
//Creatures:
3 Cephalid Sage
//Instants:
3 Words of Wisdom
3 Perilous Research
3 Tezzeret's Gambit
4 Stream of Consciousness
//Sorceries:
3 Beacon of Tomorrows
4 Preordain
4 Ponder
//Artifacts:
2 Spellweaver Helix
2 Everflowing Chalice
//Enchantments:
3 Hatching Plans
3 Attunement
This deck was actually built on a dare. I was supposed to build a deck with Words of Wisdom as a win condition. So I did. There are a number of good interactions in here that I just like. (EG Perilous Research+Hatching Plans, Tezzeret's Gambit+Everflowing Chalice, Spellweaver Helix, Beacon of Tomorrows and any of the one-mana sorceries, etc)
The gameplan is to draw through most of your deck as fast as you can (not that hard with Attunement and friends), and then take infinite turns, using Stream of Consciousness to continually recur Words of Wisdom, a sorcery cantrip, and another Stream of Consciousness for the kill. The name comes from my first opponent, who asked as I was going off if the goal of the deck was to put him to sleep.
Deck No. 4: Not-Blue Control
Instants:
2 Lightning Bolt
1 Terminate
2 Ghastly Demise
2 Volcanic Fallout
2 Go for the Throat
3 Harrow
Creatures:
4 Viridian Emissary
2 Wall of Omens
2 Qasali Pridemage
2 Vampire Nighthawk
2 Tidehollow Sculler
1 Eternal Witness
2 Forgotten Ancient
1 Oversoul of Dusk
Sorceries:
4 Grim Discovery
2 Blightning
2 Crime // Punishment
Enchantments:
2 Dark Tutelage
Lands:
4 Terramorphic Expanse
4 Kabira Crossroads
1 Greypelt Refuge
2 Akoum Refuge
2 Kazandu Refuge
3 Swamp
1 Plains
3 Forest
3 Mountain
This deck I literally built out of a pile of cards I had lying around that I wanted to do something with. It's also nice to have a deck that isn't a ridiculous combo deck. Just in case.
