Intuition Gifts ungiven

Intuition has following ruling:
7/15/2006 Targets an opponent. You choose an opponent during announcement. If you can't target an opponent, you can't cast this card.

1. Gifts ungiven does not have this, but I believe that there is still similar feature. True or false?

Gifts ungiven has following ruling:
12/1/2004 You can choose less than four cards if you want, but your opponent will still put two of those cards into your graveyard.

2. I have met an interpretation that Intuition has similar feature, meaning that a player can search up for "up to three" cards, while opponent still chooses only single card which is put into hand. This is due the difference between intuition and Gifts. By Intuition opponent chooses card which is put into hand, by Gifts he chooses 2 cards which go to the graveyard. True or false?

The second interpretation was applied because usually each tutoring cards mean that if you cannot find a card which you are looking for you may choose 0 cards.

1) Gifts targets an opponent. Therefore you need to choose a target. If there is no legal target you cannot cast Gifts.

2) You don't have to find cards with Gifts because "different names" is a "stated quality" .

701.15b If a player is searching a hidden zone for cards with a stated quality, such as a card with a
certain card type or color, that player isn’t required to find some or all of those cards even if
they’re present in that zone.

However you can't do the same with Intuition...

701.15c If a player is searching a hidden zone simply for a quantity of cards, such as “a card” or
“three cards,” that player must find that many cards (or as many as possible, if the zone doesn’t
contain enough cards).
