View Full Version : Who Here Wants to Have a Vintage Subforum?
So I'm taking the liberty to post this poll since it has been previously discussed multiple times in various threads and there is quite a number of Vintage players active in this forum. Vote away people!

As long as we don't cater to the losers who play standard, I'm down for extra subforums.

You should have included: "I don't give a flying fart."
The third option was supposed to be the flying fart option but maybe I should have emphasized the "I don't care" part. Is there a way to edit the poll options or is it disabled because it could be used to cheat?

The Mana Drain still exists and it's sparsely populated these days. I'd just go there instead.

I want Vintage to remain obscure and cliquish.

Moderation is stifling, the forum software is old, and the noise to signal ratio is off the charts. There's a large number of Vintage players on this forum who do not post there. I honestly think this forum would provide an improved arena for discussion/increasing player population. The latter is more note worthy because a variety of Google searches for Type 1/Vintage do not even show TMD on the first page, people do not know of it's existence.
Quite frankly, while I understand Modern is "Legacy Lite", I'm surprised it's sub forum has been allowed to exist considering both the format and forums less than desirable condition.
If anything it's worth taking into serious consideration since SCG is trying to sell TMD and eventually will shut it down pending no purchases (which is bound to happen).

I agree on some of these points but I'm not sure the signal/noise ratio is really going to be better here. If it does get shutdown, though, I would definitely support a Vintage subforum here. There has to be intelligent discussion of Vintage somewhere.

I believe it would be a vast improvement over the large number of SCD and Fish threads.
At least here there's a collection of people who play Vintage outside of Cockatrice, give a shit about the format, and are not god awful.
Plus at least in my area I've worked hard at reviving Vintage to the point where we get 10-16 person weekly events and a good rotation of around 40 players of which a majority post on this site but have no clue about TMD.

Yeah the Source needs a Vintage forum TMD is ass. I put in for a user name there which had to be approved then the stupid forum wouldn't let me post in any of the relevant subforums until I jumped through more hoops, then I lost access to my old email since it was a college account (they won't let you make an account from yahoo or gmail, seems idiotic) and forgot my password which was a random autogen so I couldn't get back into the forums to post at all. So I tried to make a new account linking to my new college email account and it had to be "approved" manually which never happened. So now I can't do shit on the forum, even posting on the useless subforums is impossible.

Isn't TMD dead (or near dead)? I mean the only thing that's keeping it alive is Menendian and he doesn't really do anything relevant there.

Well it would reduce the number of sites I occasionally peruse by 1. I just wonder how much MTG salvation style
[HELP] BUDGET ELfs-BALL
threads we'll end up with ... TMD was a decent read for a while because absurd kitchen table casual bullshit was met with unbridled hostility.
Just like the Legacy "New and Developmental Decks" we'd have a "Budget and Unpowered" for Vintage and all the noobish decks can be discussed there. Here, problem solved.
Also the general population of the Source is on a much different level than Salvation's. I'm sure there'll be some actual discussion and development.

I'm down with opening a Vintage thread on the source, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet actually. Seems just as logical as letting modern in. As someone who is looking to get into vintage at some point, I've found TMD to be less than stellar the few times I ventured over there. Starting fresh with new primers and threads can't hurt, and the source just does it better than the rest.
Ertai's Familiar will prowl the Vintage threads like a deadly phyrexian jaguar, making sure nothing irrelevant or ignorant is said without retaliation. Although, John I'd probably stay away from critiquing the modern stuff. Your vintage-soured brain might melt if you get too involved.

Also ... vintage is great because people are cabalish and secretive about their decks.

There's no reason to close the Modern Forum. It was brought up in conversation only because I felt interest in Vintage would be at least on par with that of Modern, justifying the creation of the sub forum.

I would like that. Finding useful information on TMD is tough, and on Salvation it is impossible.

I love me some vintage and would be amazing to be able to discuss it on my favorite magic site :)

Because the modern subforum is almost dead and Vintage/Legacy are the only real eternal formats.
oh, and Modern just suck and I dont want to have 999 subforums on the main page.

There should be a way to hide subforums from your display if you don't want them cluttering up your screen.
As a proud vintage Bomberman player, I support this notion. If Modern's good enough for Source, we should have Vintage too, no question.
I don't know why anyone would use Salvation's magic community as an argument for anything. Maybe for standard or EDH, I dunno....but Legacy and Vintage is nonexistent on Salvation (noted exception is the Death and Taxes thread, as a friend has repeatedly pointed out).
So is 70% enough to get some consideration?

I support more Vintage talk. I am trying to build our community here in Dallas & am hosting a proxy tourney this weekend. If I can direct the converts here that would be awesome.
