Good to hear Dave. Was a bit dismayed that one of the better prize structures wasn't getting off the ground enough to merit me driving 2 hours. A few questions since I don't regular the store and don't know your policies and they determine my ability to regularly attend.
Can credit be saved/stored? Ala a credit line or gift certificate form?
If credit can be saved, can it be used for future week entries?
If starting off at 7:30, with a 16+ person turnout, that's a tournament ending at 12:30+. Is the store fine with staying open this late? I've been pressured and have seen others pressured at your events to play faster not due to slow play but due to the event going later than anticipated.
Don't take my comments negatively, just want to know what I'm getting into since I would be making a 4 hour total drive and getting home at 3am possibly.
Glad to see an effort is being made for more weekly legacy and look forward to your reply.

Yes, you can hold onto your credit slip. I do it all the time. But Dave doesn't like it.
Credit at DHG cannot be used for tournament admissions.
Unfortunately I cannot make it this week. I'm pretty ticked about it

We changed to straight swiss to ensure people would get out at a reasonable time
Pretty sure even at 16+ it'll only be 4 rounds of swiss.
Anyone going to MC for legacy tonight?

Thanks for the interest Jeremiah. To answer your questions....
Can credit be saved/stored? Ala a credit line or gift certificate form?
Yes it can.
If credit can be saved, can it be used for future week entries?
No it cannot.
My store credit policy is very simple- Any credit won from this tourney may be used on product/supplies/singles. You just can't use it on tourneys or candy/soda.
With my new payouts I make actually no money off this event. I'm just trying to keep weekly legacy alive in my area. I was the first person to do it around here on a regular basis, and I feel an obligation to keep it going if possible.
If starting off at 7:30, with a 16+ person turnout, that's a tournament ending at 12:30+.
Not sure where you got 12:30 from. As stated earlier, I do 4 rounds max and that's only at 16 or more players. It's straight swiss and 40 minute rounds. You're looking at 10:00-10:30pm ending with 4 rounds. Smaller turnout goes even quicker. 3 rounds meaning 9:30-10pm end. Also with smaller turnout I'll do 45 minute rounds, but you can expect 40 from me most of the time since this is a casual weekly event and I expect 4 rounds most of the time.
Is the store fine with staying open this late? I've been pressured and have seen others pressured at your events to play faster not due to slow play but due to the event going later than anticipated.
I don't pressure anyone to play faster than reasonably expected within a timed round. If you feel you cannot play at a reasonable pace within my stated timed structure, then I don't recommend showing. It's not a problem for 99% of the players in my store.
Sorry if that comes off as harsh, but I do expect people to play at a reasonable pace in my events. If you play at a reasonable pace within the stated confines of the round, the event never will go later than anticipated so keep that in mind.
Don't take my comments negatively, just want to know what I'm getting into since I would be making a 4 hour total drive and getting home at 3am possibly.
No offense taken. I think you're a little off base with some of your time expectations, that's all. Our old weekly events used to be 4 rounds + top 4/top 8 and those ended around 11:00-11:30pm the majority of the time, so I expect these to end much sooner since there is no longer a cut to elimination rounds for the weekly.
Glad to see an effort is being made for more weekly legacy and look forward to your reply.
Thanks. I genuinely care about legacy and it's obvious from my structure I don't care about making a profit off these. Breaking even is fine as long as I'm not actually losing money to keep these going. It's the only reason I have the policy of no credit being used for tourneys and the recent addition to candy/soda to that list. Under old system people were winning credit and cleaning me out on soda/candy and I was actually losing money. So that's why candy/soda were added to the list.
I expect alot of people to rack up alot of credit and I'm totally cool with that
My prices are among the lowest in the country for a brick and mortar store and there's tons of value to be had.
I look forward to seeing people for our rejuvanated Thu night legacy.
Thank you for the support

My mis-reading of the event. I assumed 3-4 rounds with prizes to top 4/8 meant a top 4/8 after 3-4 rounds based off standings, which would be 5-7 rounds starting at 7:30. I assumed there would be at least 5 rounds worth of event to eliminate multiple undefeated records and prizes going out based off standings against multiple undefeated players. My error though, thank you for the clarification.

I only brought it up because I've had you tell me personally to play faster because the event was taking longer than anticipated and not due to slow play. And I've seen you do it to other players of games I was watching. Sounds like you don't anymore though and that's good to hear.
Sounds like you're putting some great effort into making these events both profitable and efficient. I'll make the trek and report back tonight or tomorrow morning. Love me some more weekly legacy.

Couldn't get there in time tonight and I really wanted to get some games in before Saturday's tourney. I'll be there more oft than not in the future.

No worries. Thanks for the support. I was trying to figure out if you were in person tonight because I have no idea who you are IRL
We had 8 players on the button for our first legacy back. Hopefully this will grow as word gets out that these are going off and that $100 will always be given out at just 8 players.
Jeremiah Rudolph was 1st place with His unique UG Cloudpost deck.
Gabe Lebel was 2nd place with his mono red burn deck
Taylor Nottage was 3rd place with merfolk
Connar! Thompson was 4th place with Maverick.
Very varied decks with I think 6 out of the 8 being totally different. I think this is a good sign for the weekend.
We hope you join us for our Buncha Duals this Saturday and hopefully see you weekly for our Thursday Legacy :=)

Since revising the payouts we've had these go off consistently so thank you very much for the support.
Last Thursday saw 12 players show and top 4 received $120 credit.
1st place at 4-0 was Luis Perez /w Reanimator
2nd at 3-1 was Michael McKenna /w RUG Delver
3rd at 3-1 was Connor Thompson with GW Maverick.
4th slipping in to prize on breakers at 2-2 was Elliot Hearn /w Merfolk
Turnouts for these are growing by the week. The new 7:30pm start time seems to be agreeable for most people and these average about 2 hours for the entire event as I no longer cut to elimination rounds.
Excited to see what decks show leading into our next Bunch of duals tournament in September that I have just announced

Thanks as always for your support of both Legacy and my store!
