This situation came up, and I'm pretty sure I understood it correctly - but can't hurt to double check.

Opponent controls Counterbalance as the only non-land permanent.
I cast Infernal Tutor.
The Counterbalance triggers and goes onto the stack. At this point - I still maintain priority.
My opponent gets an opportunity to apply/decline the trigger and reveal accordingly.
He reveals and does not reveal 2 CMC.

The stack remains as Infernal Tutor solely.
Now, I have an opportunity to play any other Instant speed effects. (Such as LED)

Is this sequence correct?

Your sequence works but your reasoning is wrong. Here's what happens.

You cast Infernal Tutor, maintaining priority. Counterbalance triggers and waits to go on the stack.
Just before you get priority back, the Counterbalance trigger goes on the stack.
Now you have priority on this stack: Counterbalance triggered ability (on top), Infernal Tutor (on the bottom).
You pass priority and your opponent passes it back. The Counterbalance trigger resolves and your opponent reveals something that doesn't counter Infernal Tutor.
You get priority with Infernal Tutor on the stack (and can crack your LED now if you want).

603.2. Whenever a game event or game state matches a triggered ability's trigger event, that ability automatically triggers. The ability doesn't do anything at this point.
603.3. Once an ability has triggered, its controller puts it on the stack as an object that's not a card the next time a player would receive priority. [...]

Basically, if infernal tutor is the top object on the stack, you can't pass priority without potentially losing your chance to use lion's eye diamond. In this case, the counterbalance trigger is above the tutor, so you can safely pass until the tutor is on the top of the stack again.

Doesn't this only work assuming that your opponent will attempt to counter with Counterbalance? So if you pass priority and your opponent doesn't trigger Counterbalance then Infernal resolves with you never receiving priority again?

Counterbalance always triggers. The may part happens on resolution.

Even if they forget the trigger, simply announce LED 'after CB, but before IT resolves'.
