Okay, we all play with some rather expensive cards, and want to see those cards taken care of. So, we attempt to get the best sleeves possible. I have played, and like Dragon Shields. I have used Dragon Shield for my Standard and Modern decks without issue. While some of those decks are worth a pretty penny, they do not compare in value to my legacy deck. With that being said, I would like to get some sleeves that will protect my investment the best. Price is not an issue. If we as legacy players are willing to drop a grand on a single deck, then what's an extra $30, $40, or even $50? So what's the word? What are the absolutely best sleeves to protect our coveted dual lands, 'goyfs, and Force of Wills?

PS - I'm sure this has been talked about before, but hey, it's a different time with different products out. Thanks!

I've been using KMC Matte with KMC Perfect Fits (double sleeving) for a few years now without any real problems.

The current KMC Mattes are a little tight when double sleeving, but they still work fine.

KMC and Dragon Shield. KMC perfect fits into either.

I've tried the MayDay Games sleeves mentioned in another thread and they were just randomly splitting on me. Also they felt a bit thin and fragile compared to the Dragon Shields and KMCs. So just stick with those two and you will be fine.

Well damn.... after being disappointed with Dragon Shields for a few months now (they don't show foils well) I went online and ordered a pack of MayDay games shields.

I hope you're wrong about them... Will update when I get them in the mail.

I like the feel of them and the way foils look in them. You just have to shuffle them kind of gingerly. They will split along the top edges, where you insert the card. I was used to Dragon Shields and Ultra Pro Mattes for decks I don't care about, and I do that mash shuffle thing alot. After a few tourneys I noticed splits. In 160 sleeves I've had like 5 split on me. That's no huge number and I was able to swap them out with the extra sleeves (in a pack of 80 I'm only using 75) so as long as you toss some extra sleeves along with Perfect Fits into your backpack you should be fine.

It's really just a minor annoyance but it was enough for me to just stick with Dragon Shields for now.

I've literally tried every popular sleeve on the market. The only sleeves worth their spit are the ultra pro mattes. Aesthetics may not be pleasing to everyone, but they hold up the best and with KMC perfect fits (even the new ones and new UP mattes) your decks safe.

Used to run KMC Perfect Size + KMC Matt but every other tournament, 1-2 sleeves split. Moved to KMC Perfect Size + Dragon Shields with much better results.

You should definitely use two layers ("perfect fit" sleeves) if you want to protect your cards. I don't really have any preference to particular brands though. It seems like everything gets worn out eventually.

KMC perfects plus KMC Mattes have given me the best results. Ultra Pro are absolute garbage, and Dragon Shields, while not garbage, are much worse than KMCs. I do not understand the draw to dragon shields, they are fine, but not nearly as good as KMCs.

KMC just get so dirty and 'poor man' looking I feel like I have to resleeve a lot less often with UP

I use Ultra Pro perfect fits and Dragon Shields. I'm considering switching back to KMC for the normal sleeves though. The DS don't split or anything but the backs get marked fairly fast and there are sometimes different sizes in 2 packs which is annoying.
That said; white KMC's get dirty realllly fast, so probably going for a darker color next time.

Anyone know what sleeves the Taiwanese guy was using in the magic world cup? His PR opponent in the finals commented at how nice they were.

I like KMC perfect fits + Ultra Pro Matte sleeves. Regular ultra pro aren't great, but I really enjoy the feel of their matte variety.

I would just say pick any sleeve you like that you can fit cards with Perfect Fits in, as everyone has their own problems with splitting or card feel.

So the MayDay sleeves just came and my first impression is really serious "awesome fucking sleeves". They shuffle well, feel well made and well crafted, are evenly cut, etc. They're also quite thick so side shuffling doesn't hit the corners like Dragon Shields had in the past.

My only complain is that they are a bit 'short' so the card doesn't sit more than 1/2 mm down from the top of the sleeve but I figure once I double sleeve em up this shouldn't be a problem.

They're also cheap as all hell.

This is pretty much my only issue with MDG Sleeves. They're a bit short, so in some cases if you don't pay attention the upper side of the perfect size sticks out. This can be easily circumvented by pushing the card back in, but in some cases you have to do this every now and then.

Dragon Shield till I die. They take corner shuffling, roughly 3x better than most brands, and thats how i shuffle so..

Dragon Shields has come out with a new manufacturing process with Q&A added in for well, Quality Assurance. I bought a pack to test it out, and it looks like the uneven sleeve length has been addressed. The sides of the sleeves still have some trailing edges from an un-clean cut, but it looks like the biggest issue (uneven lengths) has been resolved at this time.

I've all but stopped using Dragon Shields any more just because they get so grimy so fast. Currently, My foiled out Dredge is sitting in Legion RTFC's doubled with KMC Perfects, and I don't plan to change that any time soon.

KMCs do have a nice clear plastic so you can really see the shine.

I do kinda like the look of foils through the Ultra Pro Matte sleeves though. For some reason, I think that slightly dimmer cloudy look is pretty cool.
