Yeah pretty much if you have byes, you can pay an extra fee to skip the whole player's meeting & handing in your decklists and just show up whenever your first round starts.

I believe you have to hand in your decklist ahead of time, etc.

Correct on all accounts. Legion is also taking online preregistration and you can E-mail decklists.

I know in the past if you passed the test at the conference you still got a packet. Not sure if that's the case anymore considering we were told that packets weren't guaranteed if you didn't sign up beforehand

Would anyone have a problem with Providence Tavern in Edgewater?

This is my personal favorite bar, and it has good beer, cocktails, food, easy parking, and should have plenty of space on a Thursday. The main downside is that it's west of downtown, so cab rides are going to be a bit pricier (airport taxis in particular I know will charge a lot more for anything west of I-25). If a lot of people are planning on taking a cab, we can go somewhere downtown, but it's going to make things more of a pain in the ass for those who are driving.

Yes the hotel is a bit away from the airport. However, there is a free shuttle for guests of the hotel.

Just took it myself. When you arrive call the front desk, they will send a shuttle. It took about 30 minutes for ours to arrive. The shuttle ride is about 20 minutes.

As much as I would like to think that, most commentators say that 'pros' win because they simply play more Magic than anyone else. Someone who has tens of thousands of hours playing the game will certainly be more versed for a legacy GP (both mentally, and physically) than someone who casually plays legacy once or twice a month at power tournaments.

I hear it constantly from Marshall Sutcliffe, BDM, Rich Hagon, and other commentators.

Yeah, I am very interested in what the breakdown for tomorrow looks like, seems like BUG has driven the FOW's from the meta leaving combo players a golden opportunity. I know I don't really want to be playing FOW against BUG. I expect the faster and less card hungry combo decks to outperform, TES over ANT ect.

TES is an amazing choice in the Denver meta, the field is so diverse that the aggro-control decks have to decide whether they want to have a chance against the fairer decks or the combo (and must gear against the fair), and the other combo decks dislike silence and are just naturally less powerful than TES.

:eyebrow: This is true if we are talking for the next 20 days, but we all know that with every single set the meta game is changing a lot. And even now, it's impossible to say that BUG it's the best deck in the format.

It's really funny how the peoples jump to one deck to another and claiming that the last one is the best right now. I am pretty sure most of them claim this statement without much testings. In my opinion RUG vs BUG vs BANT for example are 50/50 matches. Not to mention that Bant for expple is much better vs the unfair decks like Show and Tell.

I bet that that the winner deck in this GP will be a combo deck of some sort, or even something like elves or goblins...but not BUG.

Bug will be bad if everyone is playing Burn or Blood Moon, otherwise his statement is very true, it has always been a good deck, but Delver pushed RUG to the front.

Second, BUG are 3-4 different decks if categorizd simply under their colour identities.

I picked up my first lost of the day yesterday against a deck feature more than 4 Trolls. My Supreme Verdict was mocking me in my deck. Terrific! Then lost to Slow Player Gaudenis Viriguris in turns when I couldnt answer DRS at 2, then finally against ANT to knock me out when I got flooded. I should have just played Elves instead of UW Stoneblade.

Yeah, I cast time spiral, drew 7, went to play a land before untap. He called me on it. I should have called a judge. After talking with a judge there, it was a timing infraction, so I would have just gotten a warning and got to untap my lands. He tried to make it sound like it was a missed trigger. Oh well. I still had roughly a billion mana in my pool, and in a winning position, so it seemed really shitty to call me on it (even though it was my bad).

Went 3-3-1 with URb Painted Stone. Should have conceded round 1 instead of leaving it a draw, that was a huge mistake in retrospect. I was very prepared to beat combo and randomness, but being in the draw bracket all day meant lots of Counterbalance. Also, the concession definitely would have been better sportsmanship. We had a judge breathing down our necks for a match slip and I didn't think about it thoroughly. Ah well... next time. Live and learn.

They did fully touched his hand, he drew an extra card, ie Game Loss as REL is Professional.

I can't decide if I'm thrilled or sad to see this. I'd put Chains into my Jund deck about a month ago and was loving it, hoped nobody else would give it a try on a big level. Now the cat's out of the box. I don't think it's a game-breaking card or anything, but it sure blanks a lot of the best cards in Legacy.

I'm a bit unsure why Joe fought so hard over the Swords to Plowshares on his Vendilion Clique (flipped his Top to counter the StP), when he already had another copy in hand, only to play a second Clique onto the battlefield a turn later to remove a card from Andrew's hand.

I guess he needed a clock since Dust Bowl was grinding him out, but unless I am mistaken about the backup copy, I didn't like that move. I'm also guessing Andrew had a tell which let him (Joe) know that he needed to play the Clique during Andrew's draw phase or risk getting milled out of the game on the spot.

I'm sure Joe has a reason for everything since he's a great player, but it'd be great to get an explanation.

The thinning effect is too minor and there's not much difference between a randomized library and a randomized library minus one land. Either way, he would topdeck what he topdecked, and the life loss may have mattered more to him than the marginal improvement in his rips.

Yes... Who knows? I thought it was extremely odd that a spectator called a judge in the first place.

My buddy (Richard Cheese) was standing behind me and couldn't pull up the comprehensive rules fast enough. Rule 118.4 says that it is life loss, and therefore my play was fine. I corrected them later, they admitted their mistake, and I got free entry into the Legacy Redux event on Sunday. Sure would have been nice to actually get byes though, considering you only had to go 3-2 to make Day 2... sucks, since that pretty much would have guaranteed the win at that point. Oh well, thems the breaks.

I designed the mat and led the effort to get them made.

Wizards asked us very politely to not use their copyrighted images since they have an exclusive product licensing deal with UltraPro (the TO that brought it to their attention was a full blown asshole, but that's a different story). I would prefer not to see anyone making mats with copyrighted images + Source logo since Wizards was nice about it.

I wasn't aware there was still so much desire for mats, so I will put more effort into getting a v2 produced.

Of course :smile:. 2 years ago i ordered a playmat from the us and the shipping was ok, don't know it atm but i think it will be worth it :wink:
