So, I've been testing a deck for a while now, proxied, and have decided to start putting it together for real. Will have to wait for RtR as I need two copies of a card from there, but will get to that.
First, a caveat: I don't know to what extent this version of a Delver deck has been tried and tested before. I suppose it resembles Grixis decks, but I don't know for sure.
The main idea:
To run a Delver package (Brainstorms, Ponders, Force of Wills, Dazes etc) and adding red and black to the mix. In a sense you could say that it's a UR Delver deck that splashes black, but I'd like to say that the splash of black makes a lot of difference to how the deck is played. Additionally the deck also plays Nivmagus Elemental from RtR and therefore has some of it's cantrip/counter suite devoted to this such as Flusterstorm and Gigadrowse.

2x Thoughtseize
2x Inquisition of Kozilek

3x Flooded Strand
3x Underground Sea
3x Volcanic Island
1x Island
Sideboard:
1x Stifle
2x Perish
2x Surgical Extraction
1x Relic of Progenitus
2x Misdirection
3x Pyroblast
1x Wipe Away
1x Gilded Drake
The Nivmagus Elemental adds some volatility to the deck. It can attack as a 1/2 and once they have decided to not block it can grow tremendously with just one or two spells with either storm or replicate.
I have been testing the deck on a couple of occasions with my playgroup against a variety of different decks and I like what I'm seeing. It's quite resilient and can squeeze out wins when looking completely out.
Basically the deck is inspired a lot by RUG delver, but replaces green with black. This isn't necessarily because I think this makes for a better deck strictly speaking, but I like what black offers in terms of Bobs and hand disruption.
Would love to hear some other people's thoughts on this and/or experiences with something similar :)
