Again, another carry over from Finn's thread regarding Legacy. I'm trying to collect some accurate data on Source users just so we could compare it to Modern statistics.

Haven't been into Legacy very long. But I make up for it by having disliked Type 2 for literally the entirety of it's existence.

Legacy was the only "format" I've played, and I did so for the last 6-8 years, but I never entered a tournament until 2 years ago. Before that, I just constructed Legacy decks but never played. How do I vote here?
I played Standard/PTQ rotational formats pretty aggressively when I first started playing, then took a 3 year break during HS, came back with Legacy in 2005 when it started picking up steam.
Still remember my first few decks:
52 Bauble Burn, 5/3, & Nausea.
I have played Magic for 8 years. Oops not in the poll

I am of the "Mirrodin/Onslaught block type 2" so, that is where I started with, red/white astral slide, then went on to tooth and nail, then boros deck wins, then dragonstorm, then I took a break until about 2011 summer, then i came back and just dived into type 1.5 like a crazy girl!
Been playing since Torment was the fresh set. Ah, the good ole days.

I played revised until urza saga and quit until zendikar block. How do I vote?

Since unlimited, 1.5 since Ice Age I think.

Right after I got into magic, planeshift came out (2001) but one of my friends had started around Ice age, so he gave me a lot of cards ranging from revised to planeshift. So all the decks I made when I was a supernoob were "legacy decks". And my LGS only had type 1.5 tournys regularly. I only started playing "real", non-budgeted, legacy decks about 4 years ago.

Shit, forgot 8 on the poll. Vote for the higher value :P

Shit, I didn't realize this was a multiple answer poll. Is there a way to re-vote :)?

I guess Mirrodin is where I really started playing frequently, so around 2004-2005 for magic, and maybe '06 or '07 for starting into legacy
How do I vote on this one if I took a sizable break in my magic playing career? e.g. I didn't play Urza through Alara.

Hmm I have played type 1.5. But before that there was only type 1 and type 2.
I remember I entered my first tournament with deck including
4x Jokulhaups
4x Rukh Egg
Good old times!
edit: Hmm.. how about some dragon stompy or MUD/Wurmcoils today with Jokulhaupses. I got intrested :D
So easy to cast it with City of Traitors and Ancient Tombs..

Started playing Magic 1997
Started playing actual Legacy 2008
had casual decks that would qualify as legacy or vintage before that.

Sigh. 1.5. Dragon, MUD, Zilla Stompy, ATS, Landstill... those were the days. Play a Bazaar deck, a Workshop deck, a Mana Drain deck, a Survival deck, or a deck designed to beat those.

Not quite sure if I voted correctly. I've played Magic since Late Beta as "Magic" later to become "Type 1." Then I left for a long time to return to Magic playing Legacy for 2ish years now.
So revise accordingly.

I remember the first time I saw a pack of Magic cards in the comic store. I think it was '93. To be honest, I thought the game looked pretty ghetto and couldn't believe they already wanted $13/ pack of Legends, Arabian Nights and Antiquities. I settled for the much more affordable Revised and the Dark. And couldn't believe how cheap Fallen Empires / Homelands / Chronicles were. Nobody really knew much about the game at that time so the comic stored dude didn't really push the old packs. He was like, "Yeah, Chronicles is just like those sets but way cheaper!" and I fell for it. I think there were like 1/2 box of the three old expansions. Every day I regret not buying them out.
I still have my old Scryes and Inquest guides.
Scrye 5:
Nicol Bolas - $25
Tabernacle - $15
Carrion Ants - $22.50
Mana Drain - $7.30
Alpha Moxes - $77
Alpha Shivan - $37
Alpha Chaos Orb - $61.25
Alpha Forcefield - $70
Alpha Gauntlet of Might - $75
and on and on...

I started playing Magic in 1993, with a competitive interest beginning in 1994/1995.
I've played back in 2000, but I stopped and didn't learn enough of it to be considered a player. And then I came back in 2006 and immediately started playing legacy, which was the format that I had cards to play. So I voted 6 and 6 for mtg and legacy.

Started playing back when Onslaught-Mirrodin-8th Standard. All my friends already played competitive Standard/Extended so there was never a "casual-beginner" time for me. I played Elf-Clamp back until Skullclamp got banned. I tried getting into Extended but I soon moved to a different city and stopped playing Magic.
I got into Legacy by accident back when Future Sight saw print. I was at a mall when I saw a store (Teddy n Me) and people were playing Magic. This is when I learned about Legacy. Unfortunately I've already missed the Tarmogoyf boat when I started playing Legacy. I remember the format was CounterTop, Thresh, Landstill and Goblins (kinda like how the format looks like right now without Show and Tell decks). It wasn't hard for me to get into the format as I already had Extended Goblins (I was only missing Lackey, Vial and Wasteland at this point), Aggro Elves and a casual/multiplayer Parfait deck (which became Quinn during the time).

If you stopped sometime, just total time you've been playing. So if you played 1993-1995, then 2008-2010, that's 4 years (obviously depending on how you're counting your years, if inclusively, then 6, but you know what I mean).
But, then you could post describing this happening.
