Hey everyone!
*
So I’ve been working on building a viable RWB Stoneforge deck for a while now but I’ve been finding it difficult. I still feel that it’s a viable idea but I think I could use some advice on card choices and the direction to take it. First off, here’s my current decklist:
*
4 Mother of Runes
4 Goblin Guide
3 Grim Lavamancer
4 Dark Confidant
4 Stoneforge Mystic
*
4 Aether Vial
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Chain Lightning
2 Path to Exile
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Thoughtseize
1 Batterskull
1 Umezawa’s Jitte
*
4 Marsh Flats
4 Arid Mesa
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Badlands
1 Plateau
1 Scrubland
2 Mountain
2 Plains
1 Swamp
*
SIDEBOARD:
4 Tormod’s Crypt
3 Red Elemental Blast
2 Vindicate
2 Duress
2 Perish
1 Manriki-Guari
1 Sword of Feast and Famine
*
The idea is relatively simple. The deck revolves around playing incredibly efficient creatures then protecting them with stuff like Mom, Vial, and Inquisition/Thoughtseize. Burn spells act as removal and damage to the face when necessary. I think it could do well against control/counter matchups due to Vial and Stoneforge being able to cheat things into play. Here are some of the other possible inclusions to the deck:
*
--Kitchen Finks: *********** would be an EXCELLENT inclusion to add if it wasn’t for 1WW
--Rakdos Cackler: ******** seems just like a really crappy Goblin Guide
--Figure of Destiny: ******* I love this card but three colors makes it tough to level him up
--Jotun Grunt: ************** WW is tough for this deck
--Vexing Devil: ************* seems more at home in a straight burn deck, rather than RWB
--Phyrexian Revoker: **** could be really good, but I’m unsure about it in this meta
--Tidehollow Sculler:****** another possible great choice IMO
--Lightning Helix: ********** I love this card but I’d rather take Chain Lightning
--Disenchant: *************** faster than Vindicate but less versatile
--Smash to Smithereens: fits the pseudo-burn theme pretty well
--Ethersworn Canonist:** It’s good against combo but so is Inquisition/Thoughtseize/Duress
*
All-in-all, I’m liking this deck’s capabilities and potential. It requires much more testing but I see the deck as having a lot of positive matchups. I’d love to get some feedback and ideas on this deck. Thanks for reading!

Goblin Guide seems extremely out of place in this deck. Normally, that guy is not very good unless you're super aggro, but you're not: you're running Mom, Bob, and Stoneforge, none of which are remotely close to being aggro creatures. The longer the game goes, the less relevant a 2/2 for one will be, and the more his drawback (giving them a land off the top) will come into play. I would strongly consider cutting Guide for something more midrange-y.
