What type of app are you looking for?

Alexei's MTGJudge app is pretty decent for rules and Oracle, that's pretty much the only one I use, along with a timer app.

I still much prefer pen & paper for life tracking.

I was also looking for some good mtg app, for training or casual use( because I just like to use paper in tournaments). I'm using MTG Familiar now.. also, anyone knows if SCG will lunch their App for Android?

Thx.

EDIT: I'm most interested in life track and sometimes Oracle rules.

Last week, during an Android Developer talk at Devoxx, I wondered what kind of application I could develop to learn more about Android. I thought about making a Cockatrice-like application for Android. Since Cockatrice is open source, I could use the same protocol to let people play from their Android phone against other people playing on their computer.

But there are a few problems:
- I'm not sure of the legality of storing card images on the phone
- Storing all those images would take a lot of space
- It would be a complicated project --> hard to find the time outside of work
- I feel like the screen would be too small. It's hard enough to use Cockatrice on my 15" laptop.

So yeah... I guess I'll train by developing another todo app :p

How about a good app that is good for oracle and pricing? I do a lot of trading so it would be nice to see about prices quickly for mass trades

This. The trading feature on MTG Familiar is alright, but it doesn't show a variety of prices. Looking up prices on SCG sucks (do any mtg sellers have a good mobile site?). I would also appreciate knowing a good webpage/app for checking comp rules. I have it downloaded on my phone but the PDF is massive and runs really slowly.

MTG websites can barely make them work on a computer with a full size screen. I have zero hope for a good website that can fit onto a smart phone and still be quick and readable. The state of the art in MTG websites is woefully stuck in the mid 90s in terms of web-dev.

I haven't found a good MTG app for smart phones yet. Even Alexi's MTG Judge app crashed upon loading under iOS 6.0.

That's a good idea. This would be a smaller project. I have to check what pricing APIs are available though (unless I want to write a scraper).

One of the advantages of an Android App, aside from having a better user experience, is that you don't need to download a whole HTML page just to get a price. The data exchanged would be smaller, and the app faster.

What are the best websites to get "reliable" prices on the net?

I am basically imagining magiccards.info as an app, though I don't know if they cover the breadth of pricing that TCGplayer, Bidwicket, or Black Lotus Project do.

Magiccards.info takes from TCG player. Thats why at the bottom right it shows all of those vendors that sell them at each price. I had iMTG on my iPhone, which was a pretty good app for any iPhone users, but sadly I do not have an iPhone any longer. I just hate using SCG or TCG on my browser on my phone because it takes awhile to load up sometimes :/

I'm liking docked builder over MTG familiar. But it costs a few bucks

Have you tried MTG Wishlist for price checking?

I use MTG Familiar, free from the playstore. It is prety good for pricing/ looking up cards/ keeping track of mana and life, etc... It is the best app I have used so far for MTG.
