We got a discussion regarding Puppeteer clique...

The question was - what happens to the creature which has been reanimated by its ability, at the end of turn, if it was sacrificed (bounced or whatever). Especially this sentence.

" At the beginning of your next end step, exile it."

I checked for the rulings on the gatherer - there is no update. According to my knowledge, that effect triggers at the end step, but if the creature reanimated with that ability is no longer on the battlefield it will be countered...

As an example i came up with unearth ability. Fatestitcher for example. Ability specifies that card gets exiled at the beginning of the end step, or when it leaves battlefield. Clique does not have the second statement...

1) So I believe that if target of clique's ability is leaving battlefield before the delayed part of ability resolves, it does not exile. Am I right or not?

2) Unearth does not have two triggers? "Exile it at the beginning of the next end step or if it would leave the battlefield." Rulings on gatherer say about replacement effect in a manner:
End of turn - trigerring ability - Can be stifled
Leaving battlefield, exile it - replacement effect - cant be stifled

Never used it in this manner, but word "Instead" is missing there :)

For reference: Puppeteer Clique.

At the beginning of your next end step, the Cliques's ability to exile the reanimated creature will trigger. If the reanimated creature is no longer on the battlefield when that ability resolves, it will not be exiled. If it was bounced, it remains in your hand (of course, unless it was re-cast, discarded, etc.). If it was sacrificed, it remains in the graveyard (or whatever other zone it ended up in). Clique's ability only cares if the reanimated creature is still on the battlefield at the time it resolves.

Right.

Reminder text is not rules text.

702.82a. Unearth is an activated ability that functions while the card with unearth is in a graveyard. "Unearth [cost]" means "[Cost]: Return this card from your graveyard to the battlefield. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step. If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery."

At the beginning of your next end step, the Cliques's ability to exile the reanimated creature will trigger. Clique's ability only cares if the reanimated creature is still on the battlefield at the time it resolves.

Also, if it leaves the battlefield and re-enters, it is not the same creature and the Clique trigger will not see it.
