I have a question - and it is certainly possible that I am missing something.

As I read through the third hand and how it plays out, it seems like the hand really gambles on the flashbacked Gitaxian Probe. If that doesn't hit a mana source, your best move is to Burning Wish for a Grapeshot, shoot for 14 damage, and pass the turn. A nice play, but having spent all your "ammo," it seems like that play leaves you pretty vulnerable.

I guess my question is, did I miss something, or was that just a gamble?

no, he has the U. sea untapped (=6 mana after IT), even if 1 mana short, with U.sea untapped Ponder and Brainstorm in GY, hasn't played a land yet, it's really low chance on missing

That was what I was missing. Thanks!
