Good or bad trade?

What do you think about this? I'm moving from Legacy to Modern, do you think this is a balanced trade? Which pile do you think is worth more?

Pile A
- 1x Karakas English EX
- 1x Bayou Revised EX
- 3x Vendilion Clique NM

Pile B
- 3x Vendilion Clique Judge Mint
- 3x Scalding Tarn
- 1x Misty Rainforest

In my book, pretty much the same from a quick estimate.

Me personally, I wouldn't want Judge Promo Cliques in the first place though. Either go pimp or don't ;-)

Yeah Id take A as well... "Upgrading" Cliques doesnt really do anything in the playability realm... They are Cliques either way. If you are focused on Pimp then why modern?

Thanks a lot. Answering your questions about Modern/pimp... well, I'm moving to Modern because sadly nobody plays Legacy at my local store. I already sold 3 Wastelands and 1 Tabernacle, and I don't want to go on selling, because I strongly prefer trading.

About pimp, I am not crazy about it (although not to say I dislike it), but this trade has been offered and I was wondering whether accepting it or not. I think that, if I eventually get tired about the judge cliques, I always could try to downgrade them (but, to be honest, this is unlikely to happen). I also believe that Karakas is currently overpriced, and maybe the best Modern cards I could ask for are fetchlands (I'm also looking for Snapcasters, but I expect them to drop a bit in price post-rotation).

All in all... would you still consider it is a bad trade for me?

Im not going to tell you not do the trade, but I dont think getting the Judge cliques is the way to go... I'd attempt to get more fetches/Bobs (which if you were playing Lands like what I assume based on what you sold/are trading you may have already). Id personally rather get more staples for the extra 15-20 in value you are trading to upgrade Cliques.

I was playing The Rock in Legacy, and you are right about the Bobs. Other than that, I already have the goyfs and the cliques, but not yet the fetchlands (I still need 3x arid mesa, 1x misty rainforest and 3x scalding tarn) neither the shocklands (I just have a few of them).

My main goal is to build a good Modern pool to be able to switch decks easily, and with this trade I would get the last blue fetchlands I need, remaining only 3x arid mesa to finish the full set.
Anyways, I still feel it is not the trade of my life :-) But I have recently seen Karakas being sold in MKM for 10€ less than it used to be six weeks ago, and maybe time has come to get rid of at its top price.

True. Karakas may dip a bit, but it wont ever drop back to what it was before I dont think sadly... As for shocks all you really need to do is draft and sooner of later you can get those (plus for modern you really only need like 2 of each). Finishing sets of fetches are good. They may continue to go up because it is now modern season. I guess we will see! Instead of getting the upgrade on cliques you could try for 3 Mesas ;)

Even with the increase in price on the fetchlands, pile A is still much better value-wise, as well as the fact that if you're trading duals to someone the trade should be in your favor at least a little bit. That's just me though. :smile:
