How to sell complete set A/B duals

Hi!

A friend of mine that hasn't been playing much recently has decided to unload his collection, starting with his set of A/B duals (that's all 40 of them).

Now, he asks me if I could organize and sell them for him, so I'm wondering how and where to do this. I havn't sold any cards on ebay (but I think a friend has several sales there so that might be a possibility) or on magiccardmarket (but has bought many cards there). Is there someother place to consider? Themanadrain, motl or some other site? I guess that selling them to something like starcitygames is a big financial loss?

How would you do? (And before anyone asks, I don't have the money to buy them for myself and already got a set of unl-duals :P)

You are going to need high-res scans of these things anyway, so get that done first.

Once you have them, contact the major online stores. Ask if you can send pics to the head buyer and get a bid. Everyone will do this, unless the store is too small-time to have cash on hand for that kind of transaction.

If you get a bid you like, take it.

I am not sure whether you'd make more splitting the set up or putting the whole thing up on Ebay. Be warned that Ebay fees are substantial and that if you ship internationally, you run a real risk of getting scammed.

If you don't get bids that you like, drop me a PM. I'm a few steps removed from people with deep pockets for these sort of things.

MOTL is also a good place to do it if you're willing to break it up. I know myself and several others who would be interested.

I forgot to add the question whether to sell the set or to splitt em up. What do you think will bring the most money? The guy selling them is in no specific hurry but don't want to wait forever either.

What is the hole thing worth (obv condition matter but lets just say all are "EX" until I have fixed a scanner of them)?

He also has a few other more hard-sold stuff such as 2 Niv-Mizzet Champs promo and a foil Gaea's Cradle. Any idea about value and how to sell these?

I'm not posting here to brag, although I think there is a picture of all 40 in the pimp thread, I have acctually no idea how to best sell them other than to ask you guys.

Individually would be the easiest. How much is a full 40 dual set worth anyway? 25k at least? Not too many people with that kind of cash lying around (i think).

I think they sell faily fast if you post them each invidually with scans there. Although you get the money only after the buyer has confirmed he has received, the money waits in MCM bank until then. Theres also 5% fees for each sale.

If you post on motl trade and value questions forum with scans people can help you with pricing.

Accepting money via paypal (eBay/MOTL) does make you a tempting target for scammers. Keep that in mind if you go that route, and only deal with people you can trust.

The buyer can ALWAYS get their money back if they paid by PayPal, no matter what steps you took and even a month or more after the transaction. Your only defense is knowing the buyer isn't a scumbag.
