Played a couple games with the initial list, I expected it to be junk, but it turned out to be surprisingly good.
The deck is basically a turbo charged version of the old Spring Tide deck, with the goal of being able to go off turn 2, consistently by turn 3-4. The other advantage over both Spiral Tide and Spring Tide is that the deck has easier win cons, and is more consistent, harder to disrupt and allows a plan B. It has much of the same weaknesses though, and wasteland hurts.
The deck wins in 3 scenarios:
1. Generate 8 mana to cast Griselbrand draw your deck.
2. Generate 7 mana with a Grim Tutor to get Tendrils
3. Cantrip, High Tide Effect, Cloud of Faeries, Snap, Play Faeries, Cantrip, etc. Tendrils
Turn 2, 2 Land, analysis of adding Dark Ritual to 4 card mana ramp:
Dark Ritual=BBB, HT/BM = BB, Tap UBBB, Untap Effect, UBUBUB, Untap Effect= UBUBUBUB
if untap effect CoF+Snap= UBUBUBUBUB
Dark Ritual=BBB, HT/BM = BB, Tap UBBB, HT/BM = UBB, Untap Effect, UBUBUBU
HT/BM =0, tap land =UB, Untap Effect =UBUB, HT/BM =UUB, UNTAP Effect =UBUBUBU
if untap effect CoF+Snap= UBUBUBUBUB
Dark Ritual= BBB, Dark Ritual=BBBBB, BM+tap=BBBBUB/HT+Tap=BBBBB, Untap=UBUBBBBB/UBUBBBB
Turn 3, 4 card:
Candelabra
HT/BM+tap+tap= UBUB, Untap= U or B, HT/BM+tap+tap+tap=UBBUUBUBB, Untap Effect= UBBUUBUBBUUBB
HT/BM+tap+tap=UBUB, Untap= U or B, Tap+Tap+Tap+Untap Effect=UUBUBUBUB, Untap Effect= UUBUBUBUBUB
With candelbra, 3 cards (inclusive of candelabra) will generate 9 mana, 4 cards at least 10 mana
Snap of Cof
HT/BM+tap=UB, Snap or Cof +tap +tap=UBUBUB, Snap or Cof +tap+tap+tap= UBUBUBUBUB
if both= UBUBUBUBUBUB
HT/BM+tap=UB, Snap or Cof +tap=UB, HT/BM+tap+tap=UBBUBBU, Snap of Cof+ UUBBUBBUBBU
if both+UUBBUBBUBBUUUBB
So, as expected, Candelabra is much better on turn 3, which allows 3 cards to cast Griselbrand, 4 cards for tutor+griselbrand, Snap+Cof still need 4, or 3 if snap bounced the Cof. Dark Ritual not effective. Draw cards cost too much on turn 2, can be tough to cast turn 3
On 4 cards, you need 2 untap effect and 2 accel to hit 7 or 8 mana (10 mana if Cof+Snap). Dark Ritual helps turn 2
consistency greatly. On turn 3 though, its effect isn't useful, if it were a HT/BM or untap effect
it would generate more mana.
Will playtest and tune more.
