Are there any GOOD pod casts about legacy, and the legacy format out there?
there are 0 good MTG podcasts.
Good if you compare them to any other podcast. ie, nerdist, 99% invisible, podcast beyond, etc etc etc.
The EH! team at one point was pretty awesome. They are now not so much.
Personally I dont think the format has enough going on that would warrant a podcast. What would you talk about from week to week?
What would you talk about from week to week?
* How vile and abhorrent the Modern format is.
* New ways to pump more $$$ into your unchanging Legacy decks. New hotness - russian altered with silver pen foil Liliana.
* Why do people still play Merfolk?
etc

I like the "So Many Insane Plays" podcast, by Kevin Cron and Steve Menendian: http://www.mtgcast.com/topics/mtgcast-podcast-shows/active-podcast-shows/so-many-insane-plays
While its main focus is on Vintage, there are some discussions about Legacy in some episodes.

+1.
I would agree that Legacy doesn't have enough going on to necessarily warrant a weekly podcast. However, "So Many Insane Plays" only puts out a podcast every 4-5 weeks which seems correct given the popularity and frequency of Vintage events.
For Legacy, there are multiple large tournaments every few weeks along with semi-frequent MTGO Daily events. Given the data/results that Legacy produces, there is probably enough content to allow for a biweekly Legacy Podcast. This is helped out more by the plethora of Legacy decks which would allow for biweekly deck analysis of a different deck or match-up. There are other ways to supplement the content. For example, the So Many Insane Plays podcast has had numerous podcast segments that were dedicated going over hypothetical mulligan decisions (which also included discussion of first turn play sequences) and different scenarios for a given match-up. The latter primarily revolved around a Legacy deck that Steve had developed, but it would be easily ported to other Legacy match-ups.

There's a new Legacy/Modern podcast called the Eternal Factor. It's pretty new and they mostly talk about Modern in the recent podcasts because of GP Toronto (they're from that area), but I think they like Legacy far more, so that might be something to check out. It's an alright podcast so far, obviously it's new so whatever. I don't really know how good the guys actually are at Legacy though.

Your last sentence brings up an interesting point. I don't think someone has to be a good player at Legacy to author a substantial article or host a podcast. Being able to play and being able to communicate/discuss the format are two very different skill sets. There are people who are capable of being both, but just because a person is good at one doesn't necessarily mean that person will be good at the other.

Perhaps "good" was not the right word. "Competent" is more like it. Legacy podcasters should be reasonable familiar with the format and have a decent amount of knowledge about Legacy and its interactions. Don't really want to listen to a podcaster who thinks that Browbeat is the second coming of Jesus Christ, basically.
Note that I never said they're bad at Magic, Legacy, or anything for that matter.

I enjoyed Crazy Talk. Mainly a legacy podcast. Medina and other bickering every episode was comical too.
