hi, can someone explain FBB and dual lands in general?
How many versions of dual land exist in English? what are the preferences in terms of desirability?
how many different FBBs are there? The year each one set was released?

thanks!

Thanks for the quick answer. So for revised, there's only white border for English, but both white and black border for foreign? So confusing.

Almost.
Wizards made a policy that whenever they print a card in a certain language for the first time, they make them blackbordered.
So when they printed Revised in German, French and Italian, they made them blackbordered.
However after that, they made another "Revised" set in German, French and Italian (i don't know why), but because it wasn't the first set in which the cards were printed in this language, the made them whitebordered again.

Because after the first print run sold out in those countries the second/third/etc was white bordered. The companies approach to the core set wasn't quite the same back then. As I understand it at the time it was viewed more like editions of D&D rather then cycling sets of cards since ccgs were still a fairly new thing. If revised is the most current and were out of revised, print another run of revised. Whats that we have enough errata/changes to justify 4th edition ok stop printing revised. As opposed to now where m13 replaces m12 at a fixed point in time.

Well, besides German, French and Italian, are there other "FBB"s? I have some German mountains that are black bordered, not sure these can even be called FBB, but I was told they are first edition in the language. I also have these same mountains in Japanese and Chinese, one of each. What editions are these from?

German, French and Italian are the only languages with FBB duals. However, there certainly are other first editions in other languages (e.g. Russian, Chinese), but these do not contain any dual lands. FBB is only used to describe non English, black bordered dual lands in my experience. The first German edition is called "Deutsch limitiert" (= German limited) and you can tell whether your mountains are from that edition by checking the wording. Only German limited mountains use the term "stocke deinen Manavorrat um (Manasymbol) auf", in newer editions this is called "erhöhe deinen Manavorrat". A German limited mountains looks like this (https://www.magickartenmarkt.de/Mountain_1_Foreign_Black_Bordered.c1p15467.prod). Note that there are also differences in the FBB duals depending on the language. German and French duals use the proper tap symbol, while Italian ones use the T-symbol.
