Seems like a pretty healthly metagame currently, granted, based on this one event.

Results from SCG Atlanta:

Dredge
BUG Delver
Elves * 3
Sneak and Show
Lands
Nic-Fit (Scapeshift)
RUG Delver * 2
Mono-white Aggro
Jund * 5 (4 Punishing Fire, 1 traditional)
TES
Zombies
Show and Tell * 4 (2 more Omniscience based, 2 more Dreamhalls based)
4 Color Midrange
Esper Stoneblade
Merfolk * 2
U/W Miracles
Charbelcher
Mono-red
Junk

JUND has 3 copies in the T4, and Tony Chu beat Belcher to snag first.

It seems like "fair" creature decks are starting to define the format, but a fair number of combo decks still represented.

Thoughts on the first results for the post-Gatecrash metagame?

Obviously ban Brainstorm because why not?

I'm really curious about the lack of Sneak Attack decks. I think OmniTell is more vulnerable to discard due to reliance on S&T and Sneak into Emrakul seems really good in such a fair meta. Maybe everyone tried to next level each other and not many people played the deck?

In my experience, I've found Sneak Attack to be more powerful, but I suppose the results speak otherwise. I can see an appeal in going off with Dream Halls or Enter the Infinite, but I would prefer to just swing with Emrakul.

I saw a bunch of Elves, Jund (including Jundo Fundo with Stoneforge Mystic! AKA 4 color Jund with Hymn to Tourach and Wastelands), and Stoneblade. Of course the normal amount of Burn/Belcher/Dredge, and then for some reason I saw a bit more Merfolk than I expected.

I agree with you, but I think it might be a regional thing. No one here plays Sneak and Show (although some people have it), but there's a couple with Omniscience.

I don't always play Sneak Attack
But when I do ... I prefer sneaking in Hellcarver Demon

Fold. My Show and Tells are T-Chinese. They got too pricey too fast in the koreeeeeens and I never play the card. I could combine forces with another atlanta sourcer and I'm pretty sure we could put together a nutty pants looking koreeeeeeened out SnT deck. I think he's on 4 korean snt, 4 russian emrakul. Of source I'd never approve if it didn't involve 4 hellcarver demons and / or 4 maelstrom archangels.

The SCG: Dallas (http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/deckshow.php?&t%5BC1%5D=3&start_date=2013-01-20&end_date=2013-01-20&event_ID=20&start_num=25&start_num=0&limit=25) open a few weeks ago was similarly awesome. 212 total players, Top 8:
Sneak and Show
Junk
Merfolk
Jund
Esper Stoneblade
Reanimator
Imperial Painter (mono red)
UR Delver

9-16:
Esper x2
BUG Delver x2
Dredge
BWR Zombies
High Tide
Four Color Control

That's 8 different decks in the Top 8 and 13 different decks in the Top 16. 4/8 and 10/16 decks ran Brainstorm.

Yep, definitely felt like a healthy, diverse metagame at SCG Atlanta. I only faced a repeat deck once in 10 matches, and the builds were very different.

Can anyone tell me what type of white weenie aggro has made the top 32 of this event?
Death and taxes sort of build? or something completely different?
SGC has a long tradition of naming mono-white decks "aggro" or "weenie" whatever creatures there is in the deck :)

Saw that guy playing, Meekstone was doing work. He beat a RUG Delver player, who had 3 tapped Mongooses, with a Savannah Lions equipped with Sword of War and Peace. That said, I'm still not sure how he won games.

How was he untapping his own stuff if it was equipped with +2/+2 equips? Did he have some other dude to re-equip to post combat !!?!?!? :eyebrow:

Hmm, something does seem fishy there.

Most likely.

Mirran Crusader + pump is an absolute beating, but I still fail to see what makes the deck so special, aside from 3 MD Meekstones and 7 StP effects.

I fail to see why you wouldn't want to include a few Thalias and Stoneforge Mystics since you won't be able to race combo anyway. Lack of Karakas seems like a budget choice.

His deck looks like he last played a decade ago and either bought random cards to "improve" it or his friends gave them to him. Meekstone main along with the equip is just the icing of the schnitzel.

He still placed 18th, so there has to be some merit. I doubt you can place decently with such a pile on player skill alone.

When was the last time a Top 4 of a Legacy SCG Open had zero blue decks (there were blue cards though...Mindbreak Trap!)?

His deck looks like it has a favorable matchup against Jund, Bug and Rug, not much you can do wrong there with 7 removal spells, low curve, Wastelands and Elspeth. Maybe he intended to beat those and dodge other strategies... and put in Savannah Lion just to troll us.

Savannah lion, ahah... ain't there just strickly better cards like Dryad militant. I guess the type is not relevant here (cat tribal?), however maybee the color has been considered? (Perish).

He had 4x Dryad Militant MD, and maybe Isamaru was not considered due to be legendary.

Peeps, are you seriously trying to discuss this Deck? It the best joke since Richard Shay raped a Vintage Event with the Jace vs chandra duel deck + mana drains
