View Full Version : Enter the Infinite

I've been trying this deck out for a bit since Enter the Infinite came out and it's pretty self explanatory. Once you go off, you win 110% which is sometimes not the case with Sneak and Show.
There's really only two version which is Sneak and Show and Omni-Tell. While Sneak and Show can utilize Sneak Attack to get around using Show and Tell which sometimes blows you out with opposing Oblivion Ring, Gilded Drake, Stingscourger, Angel of Despair, Mangara of Corondor etc, it's still susceptible to Karakas Pithing Needle and others since it sacrifices the more powerful Omniscience for consisency. Omni-Tell relies on Show and Tell and sacrifices consistency for more power.

With the addition of Enter the Infinite, it creates an opportunity for Dream Halls to also be another enabler.

It's pretty simple;

1) Show and Tell Omniscience into play
2) Cast Enter the Infinite, draw your deck, cast Emrakul, take next turn.
3) Attack, play Emrakul. Both die and get shuffled.
4) Play Enter the Infinite again and repeat step 2 and 3.

or

1) Play Dream Halls
2) Cast Enter the Infinite using Dream Halls
3) Cast Omniscience, Emrakul and etc.

It's more like Omni-Tell than Sneak and Show and once you cast Enter the Infinite, you just win.

I call the deck Buzz Light Year (To Infinity and Beyond! )

Buzz Light Year

Enabler

4 Dream Halls
4 Omniscience
4 Show and Tell

Win condition

3 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

Filter

4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
2 Intuition
1 Preordain
1 Personal Tutor

Protection

4 Force of Will
2 Spell Pierce
2 Flusterstorm

Mana

1 Lotus Petal
1 Simian Spirit Guide
3 Ancient Tomb
2 City of Traitors
5 Island
2 Volcanic Island
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Misty Rainforest
2 Polluted Delta

Sideboard:

3 Pyroclasm
2 Wipe Away
2 Red Elemental Blast
4 Leyline of Sanctity
2 Vendilion Clique
2 Stifle

Card choices: I included Simian Spirit Guide to functionally act as the 2nd Lotus Petal to tap out and next level opposing Dazes, which left people quite surprised. This deck wants to make its lands drops and accelerating a full turn is always good, although I don't think more than 2-3 Petals are really needed.
I like Intuition, straight tutors are great in combo and a strong reason to run 3 Emrakul even thought you only need 2. It costs 3 so 2 seems like a solid number. The rest of it is pretty cut and dry. I like the split of Flusterstorm and Spell Pierce since one is better in counter wars and is hilarious against Empty the Warrens while the other is good against Jace. The 1 of Personal Tutor just seems better than a 2nd Preordain since it really is just a sorcery Mystical Tutor.
Pyroclasm is for Gaddock Teeg, Elves etc. Leyline works wonder against discard which is notoriously good against Show and Tell decks usually and has splash damage vs Burn, Charbelcher and Storm.

It's a start of the deck and it's fun to play (at least for me lol) since doing broken things in Legacy is the best.

I play a deck, which is very similar to yours:

3 Ancient Tomb
2 City of Traitors
3 Flooded Strand
5 Island
2 Misty Rainforest
2 Polluted Delta
2 Scalding Tarn

4 Brainstorm
2 Flusterstorm
4 Ponder
3 Preordain
2 Spell Pierce
4 Intuition
4 Show and Tell
4 Dream Halls
4 Force of Will
3 Omniscience
4 Enter the Infinite
3 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

I don't play Daze since it is very rare, that you are willing to pick up a land, and the deck is too slow to ensure, that your opponent is tapped out. Four Intuitions is a relic from the Hesslip/Lax Dream Halls build. It ensures, that you always have an Enter the Infinite in hand, when you go of (and doesn't require a draw effect like personal tutor). In addition, it can find Omni/Halls and against combo, like storm, it is able to find FoW at instant speed. Since I run the full set, I run an extra Emrakul so that it is searchable against decks, which is weak to it (like Can. Thresh, BW Dead Guy and Jund). I don't play any mana acceleration beyond the stompy lands, because the deck is fast enough and you want to maximize the number of pitchable cards to Dream Halls and FoW.

What I'm currently mostly debating is whether to play -3 Emrakul, -1 Spell Pierce, -Flusterstorm, +1 Laboratory Maniac, +2 Conflux, + 2 Pact of Negation. If anyone is in doubt, it works like this:

1. Get Omni or Dream Halls into play.
2. Play Enter the Infinite (or Conflux into Enter the Infinite + the second Conflux, which gives something to pitch to Dream Halls)
3. Play Preordain or Ponder. Now that you have zero cards in library, play Maniac. Play Ponder or Preordain. If the opponent responds, play Brainstorm (times three or four), Fow, Fluster, Pact. Win.

It adds even more blue cards to the deck, slightly increases consistency and enables you to play a couple of Pacts.

I tested the version that Carsten wrote about. Posted it in the omnitell thread but nobody seemed interested.
http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?24583-Deck-Omniscience/page15

My thoughts:

Yes the deck has an alternative kill like sneak attack. Sneak attack costing 4+1 can be spread over 2 turns and only needs 1 out of 8 cards to enable, while dream halls needs enter the infinite (1 out of 4 cards) + pitch card and costs 5 mana in one turn. However beeing blue helps the mana; also it is a less conditional kill.

The Lab Maniac kill gets style points but you loose the % where Show&tell Emrakul or Show&tell omniscience Emrakul wins. In the lab maniac version you can’t win without Enter the infinite.

Superstable blue mana with 4-5 sol lands is a big advantage. Therefore I would like to play a black splash for discard in the sideboard for other combo or non-wasteland control (1-2 Usea + 4 Thoughtseize)

2 Emrakul is surely enough. Show&Tell emrakul is a fringe case and you don't want to draw clunky stuff.

I think 3 Omniscience should be enough and I would max out on preordains to make sure you go Island, Island, Island, Sol-Land: win

Unfortunately we are talking about a "3 card combo":
- Show & Tell - Omniscience - Enter the infitine
- Dream-Halls - Enter the infinite + Blue card.
Therefore I am not sure if Misdirection can be supported which is very good right now. Personal tutor is also very strong, but suffers from the same problem. Maybe I am just a bit too paranoid not to have enough cards to execute the combo though…

I really like the build, looks really solid. Lotus Petals probably aren't needed, Sneak and Show usually runs them for Sneak Attack since they need the red mana. I would rather have the 4th Omniscience though since it just adds redundancy.
The Conflux combo is definitely interesting but, ultimately is it really better than Emrakul? Emrakul can still be put into play via Show and Tell, great synergy with Intuition and just wins with Enter the Infinite anyways. After you cast Enter you can use all your Force of Wills, Flusterstorms and Spell Pierces in your deck so worrying about counters at that point is kind of moot.
Another problem with Maniac is something as simple as say...Grim Lavamancer.

Black for discard is definitely a possibility although, it's a detriment to what you seem to be worried about, which is less blue cards. In all fairness, the only non-blue cards in the deck are Emrakul and Lotus Petals if you play them. Omniscience is important so I wouldn't want to play less than 4 (neither does Omni-Tell).
I do like the idea of 3 Emrakul though since it has great synergy with Intuition (which honestly, is very good since its practically a 3CC instant speed Demonic Tutor) since you don't have to win with Omniscience and could just go with the spaghetti monster.

If someone killing your Lab Maniac is a thing after you draw your deck with all of your spells being free, you deserve to lose.

You could still play Lightning Storm as an alternate kill condition post-EtI.

Play Omniscience via Dream Halls if it is not out already and hopefully you didn't play more than half of your lands. Only drawback: The kill is targetted.

Just cast Brainstorm dude. Alternate win conditions are for people who fail to fully embrace the blue side.

Congrats Mifme!

As cool as the Maniac kill is, the deck completely folds to Gaddock Teeg now (no S&T -> Emrakul, or S&T->Omniscience->Emrakul). I see you dodged him for the four rounds, but how would you address the potential gg? Meddling Mage and Nevermore are also gg spells, but they do not see much play as Gaddock Teeg.

Are 2 Personal tutor, 3 LDV, 4 Petal too much card disadvantage for you on top of Dream Hall and FoW? Would you play any Intuition?

I agree about the maniac and for the tournement i actually had 2 emrakul in the sideboard, i do actually think that -1maniac, -1 preordain/personal tutor +2 emrakul is probably the right build.
Lim duls vault is INCREDIBLE for this deck. e.g. i went turn 1 land + petal, end of opps turn sac petal cast lim dul's vault for missing piece of combo, untap make sol land show and tell -> win.
Its basically a tutor.

4 petals is kind of needed for the explosive start. against teeg i actually had pongify and wipe aways in the sideboard but again i agree emrakul main deck gets around these as you can just show and tell it in.

as for intuition, its a great card but i've been copped too many times with it and exterpates in my meta game and to play around exterpate it becomes too slow.
i used to play the RU sneak and show and omnitell and intuition was always the first card boarded out and i didnt find it that usefull, Lim Duls vault is better in my opinion for this build.

I took this for a spin to our local Legacy tournament this weekend with the following changes from Karsten Cotter's maindeck:

-1 City of Traitors
-4 Spell Pierce
-1 Lotus Petal

+1 Ancient Tomb
+4 Flusterstorm
+1 Omniscience (so I can tutor it up with Intuition)

The sideboard I brought was:

3 Divert
1 Misdirection
4 Relic of Progenitus
1 Stifle
3 Wipe Away
3 Vendilion Clique

Sideboard still needs a lot of turning, obviously.

Tournament was 23 players and I finished 6th after losing G2 in the bubble when I kept a hand of Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain, 4x lands then Brainstormed into 3x lands in response to a Thoughtseize - doh!

Anyways, the deck played pretty interestingly - it felt a lot like High Tide where you get to ignore your life total until you just go off and kill your opponent.

I beat UR Delver (2-0), Jund (2-1), and Goblins (2-0), losing to UW Miracles (0-2) and Esper Stoneblade (0-2).

I hope the deck takes off and more development starts up on it!

Anyone see that we got one in the SCG T8 this weekend?

http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=53131

For those who can't view the link:

Creatures (3)
3 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

Lands (18)
7 Island
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Flooded Strand
2 Misty Rainforest
1 Scalding Tarn

Spells (39)
3 Grim Monolith
2 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Dream Halls
3 Omniscience
4 Brainstorm
1 Cunning Wish
4 Force of Will
2 Intuition
4 Enter the Infinite
4 Ponder
4 Preordain
4 Show and Tell

Sideboard
4 Grafdigger's Cage
1 Laboratory Maniac
4 Leyline of Sanctity
1 Cyclonic Rift
1 Hurkyl's Recall
1 Mindbreak Trap
1 Misdirection
1 Surgical Extraction
1 Wipe Away

The 1-of Cunning Wish is interesting - it does add the ability to get rid of problematic permanents G1 in case we run into something that stops Emrakul.

Well, if you see my UB list a few posts up i swapped the lab maniac and the 1 preordain for 2 emrakul in the main deck and went undefeated at a BOM trial here.....
i played against a couple of burn decks, esper blade, sneak and show, mono white, junk, cascade (bb elf + shardless agent).

i still think the version i have out performs the UR version with burning wish, i have not lost a single game to sneak and show or esper blade.

try it, you might like it

I've been watching the Enter the Infinite for a while and the first build that I liked was the Cunning Wish version. I did a lot of work getting the original Omniscience deck into its current form, so definitely have played the archetype a fair bit. When I tested Cunning Wish it had a pretty similar problem to Intuition - it's just too clunky and expensive. I tested Lim-Dul's Vault like mifme suggests and it's good, but the vampiric tutor aspect is just too slow. Not what the deck is looking for. So I've finally settled on a Ur build that uses Burning Wishes after a fair bit of testing. I think it's the best build of Enter the Infinite that I've played and I think superior to the other Omniscience deck because it's less all-in on Show and Tell.

4 Dream Halls
4 Omniscience
2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
4 Burning Wish
3 Show and Tell
3 Enter the Infinite

4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
2 Preordain
2 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Force of Will
1 Flusterstorm
1 Overmaster

4 Lotus Petal
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Island
1 Mountain
1 Volcanic Island
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Flooded Strand

// Sideboard
3 Grafdigger's Cage
4 Leyline of Sanctity
1 Echoing Truth
1 Wipe Away
1 Enter the Infinite
1 Grapeshot
1 Overmaster
1 Meltdown
1 Pyroclasm
1 Show and Tell

tsabo brings up a good point - the deck should be resilient to Teeg. The Burning Wish version has the advantage of being able to find a Pyroclasm.
This deck wins by either attacking with Emrakul infinite times or generating infinite storm with the two Tops and then Grapeshot. It looks a bit protection-light, so some business could probably be trimmed (like 1 Omniscience?).
Despite that, the deck is very consistent and powerful.

This is really similar to a list I played at a local event on Thursday, losing once to BUG in the swiss and again to the same player in the finals. There were around 16 players.

4 Dream Halls
4 Omniscience
2 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
4 Burning Wish
3 Show and Tell
3 Enter the Infinite

4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
2 Preordain
2 Sensei's Divining Top

1 Show and Tell
1 Hull Breach
1 Grapeshot
1 Pyroclasm
4 Leyline of Sanctity
1 Mindbreak Trap
3 Pyroblast
1 Karakas
1 ??? Don't remember

I'm going to try -1 Omniscience, -2 Lotus Petal, +1 Preordain, +1 island, +1 fetch, and in the board cutting karakas, trap, and the unknown for defense grids.

Also: no petals of insight in the board because it's bad with dream halls instead of Omniscience.
