Imo an inferior art and a questionable promo. Is it even played in modern?

If they would use the rarity for cards they originally announced it for, Legends, it would have been ok. They just abuse it for tournament staples, a thing they officially denied from the Start but ended as exactly that, like we expected.

Back to Vengevine: As a former GW Survival Player this feels disgusting and I have doubts this One is any relevant for the modern price spike. There are far better candidates, but I guess those are all upgraded mythics in modern Masters like Goofie and likely thoughtseize. SFM is almost reserved as a Judge promo for fall/winter '13

WMCQ's weren't popular last year, so I guess they needed to spice them up to make them more attractive for FNM level players. Card is meh right now ( even if there would be some kind of Modern combo... Deathrite would probably own it ) but it's like a guaranted 15$ bill for WMCQ participants, so I guess it's nice. Let's how that will help to boost these events.

WotC has a bad habit of printing promos exactly when they are least relevant.

Like Tectonic Edge as an FNM promo during Ravnica block standard.
Like Primeval Titan after it has rotated from Standard and banned in EDH.
Like Vengevine when it's been degraded from "ZOMG COMBO KILL" to "value creature that sometimes comes back".

I wouldn't be surprised to see the next FNM promo be Seething Song.

Prime Time after being banned in EDH was hilarious. It did make me sad since I wanted to build a Lands EDH deck though...
