How good is this right now or worth playing in sideboard?
I'm also siding An-Zerrin Ruins

in my meta there is merfolk, and delver. the only creature I am really concerned about being delver since it flies . I finished building dragonstompy and am hoping to take advantage of the lack of Swords To Plowshares as removal.

and yes he is very good tech in that deck. Is he played or no?

he also blocks Goblin Lackey. That matters. he's worth siding in just to block lackey over moon effects.

...until merfolk stopped being so heavily played. What makes the card playable now? It blows up delver of secrets. Big deal. Red shouldn't have problems with delver ever, with 8 blast effects, lightning bolt, etc. etc. it's not even close. Also, blocks goblin lackey? You know what does so infinitely better? Gut shot.

Not sure If you're using mtgo's meta to gauge your meta, or you actually are playing online? The complete lack of Reaimator, and SnT in that, single, 16 person daily means nothing. Online fields a ton of reanimator, and SnT. Even If no one placed that day with them. Not sure what you want us to notice there?

Spinal Villain would be a good call if 20% of the field is playing sushi. Which If that is your meta, then play Flametongue Kavu as well. You can try to get Delvers/Cliques with Spinal V, but as DRit pointed out above: Blasts/Bolts>Villain.

it is from the legend, I used to play 2 in my dragon stompy years ago when merfolk was still popular and I think any deck including imperial painter with it at present is nothing but a farce
